- The main purpose of the game is to make it to the finish line with the truck's cargo. Players are given a set amount of time, but can ram into special vans that will add three seconds to the timer. There are several characters to choose from, each with a unique truck and attributes.
The game starts out in New York City, New York and players travel across the United States of America, ending in San Francisco, California. After Stage 1, the game gives the player a choice of trailer. One trailer is harder to haul, but provides a bigger payoff while the other choice is easier to haul but provides a smaller payoff. Money is deducted from the total when the trailer is hit. Players can sound the truck's horn to make other cars on the road yield and slipstream behind large vehicles to gain a momentary speed boost.
In addition to the time limit, players also compete with the "Lizard Tail", a rival trucker. Crossing the finish line before the Lizard Tail yields additional money. In between levels, players can park the truck in a minigame to earn more cash and upgrades for their truck, such as an improved horn.

I used to play this at a Walmart arcade back in the day.
I used to play this at Chuck E. Cheese 🧀
Hey me too.
The swaying air freshener and the shifting stuff on the dash was a nice detail back then.
No matter how much I tried when I was a kid, I wasn't able to beat the first level in the arcades
Childhood memories
$80440 new record
Back in the day, when SEGA was arcade pure........Dc version rocks too
So true, I miss the old Sega. BTW I think the voices in the arcade version are different from the DC and PS2 versions for some reason.
Batman
I think I like the Dreamcast version better, if only because Lizard Tail's voice actor puts in his god damn A-game in that version!
In this version it sounds like the Crazy Taxi guy
So lemme get this straight: This game, which involves hauling freight with American-made semi trucks, listening to American rock n' roll, across The United States of America...was never meant to leave Japan? Wassup wit dat!
This version of the game was intended to be sold within Japan. We got a version in America as well.
@@GreatMewtwoyes!!! I remember my local(NYC co-op city) movie theater had this game and the smiles arcade (RIP, milford CT) had this game Along with the Orange snowboarding arcade game and the racing game either cruis’n or fast and furious
This version has the Twin Towers unlike the PS2 version I had.
18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker is an arcade racing game developed by Sega AM2 and distributed by Sega. The game was released in arcades in 2000.
I played this game a long time ago
idk why but hearing "oh no", I thought that was Hank Hill
"Breaker 1-9, this is Sexist hawk"
I used to want a free roam mode on this and Crazy Taxi lol
Bro I used to play this at the Arcade of the Movie Theater. I also played Time Crisis II and Sega Rally 2 TWIN back in my day, but I don’t remember 18 Wheeler that much.
1 year ago at the same Movie Theater, I decided to return playing 18 Wheeler but I was horrible since I forgot to play it
Hey it's that game from chuck e cheese
This is a simple, but highly entertaining arcade game that SEGA developed and produced. Only from Japan could such a silly/wild idea be brought to life, an American Trucking game developed by the people of the Rising Sun.
While this game is fun and may only have 4 stages in total, it's also intensely difficult with very little room for error! Even from your perfect playthrough here you nearly run out of time completely a few times at the last few hurdles/stages.
I remember playing this at a cicis pizza...I completely forgot about it until now
From what I’ve read on website a few years back, Sega themselves had stated that this port form Naomi to Dreamcast was so easy and brought over arcade perfectly
I remember the day this came out for Dreamcast, and this local store in my hometown in Michigan had a Japanese copy and I couldn’t belive that I was seeing a physical copy of the sega Naomi arcade version for the sega Dreamcast, my friend was with me and was like
“ BRO❗️ this is the massive sega arcade game that we just played at Dave and busters 3 days ago 😍 now we can play it at home no waaaay “
It was quite an experience back then
That rubber banding is crazy lol
I remember saw this arcade game one in the Montreal Canadian forum mall and a demo at my good old dreamcast console
I was awesome at this game I could beat the bonus mission
This game is weird, but it reminds me Ice trucks for PSP and PS3
Imagine if Jack Burton was in the video game 🎮 since, he drives the semi truck 🚛
Now i think about it Driving from NY to Key West in 1min and 15 seconds is insane 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love cowboys truck
How do you start 1st stage with 80 sec.? In my version I start with 71 sec. and it's impossibile to finish it. I use demul
The song from the second lvl sounds like RUSH
is that Free Fallin by Tom Petty ?
how do you make sharper turns? my arcade has this game but there no chair there a backrest but still im driving standing. it is hard going gas to brakes
this the first project diva game?
Is the credits song an uncredited remix of Tom Petty's Free Fallin'?!?!?
How do you play this on pc???
15:30
What? The format of the amount of money earned isn't right!
You received much damage on your trailers
What happened to this game
Lack of interest.
