- Gameplay starts at 4:59. Most races were restarted but these were edited out. Note that this game only runs at 30fps even though the video was recorded at 60fps. The 60fps code that is available makes the computer players too fast.

Texas Hawk is my main character.
The is something seriously special about larger than life arcade style games. The big clunky menu chimes, the sunshine rock, the bright colours and blue skies, the call out narrators, the dumb but playfully in-cheek anti-narratives, the ridiculousness of it all.
There is something looming and purposeful about it all. Like some sort of safe space. Disconnected from reality. Unofficial space/time. And within that vacuum, we are all nursed to our former childhood selves. To a place where the world did actually feel just as bright, big and ridiculous as a strange arcade game. Reduced to childlike wonder for few moments or so.
I remember playing a little bit of this game on a demo disc from the game pro magazine. Was always curious about this game. Never heard about it other then the demo.
I remember the arcade version in Camden Avenue, California, called The Jungle Island. I've seen one but never played one. I have no clue if it's still there or not.
I like the ending. Peace has been brought back to Route 66 and Tornado Express fell into bankruptcy. However, Mr. Crown decided to he decided to accept defeat and move on. He looks back to when he was once an independent trucker and probably made up to his daughter Claire for letting his greed take over.
The Fucking Rivals was so hard to beat....

Have you played the arcade version of this game? It's has some gameplay and aesthetic differences from the PS2 version.
I've only seen some videos of that version, but I had wanted to try it sometime.
I just did. It's playable on Flycast now.

I don't think it looks like a great game, but I should still be able to play it. I can likely only do 2 or 3 players, though, and it will probably be a little while before I can do it.

I don't think I will be able to do that. I already have a tough time getting 4p for regular games, and I don't think it would work out for this one. I think the best I can do is maybe 3 players.

@@g.j.1033 By regular games, I mean the more popular ones like Mario Party or Mario Kart. I have a tough time mainly based on trying to start a game at a time when 3 other people are online at the same time. Most of my friends aren't willing to try obscure simple games like that one and it doesn't help that I need to play it online with Parsec.

Nope, as I said in the video description, I did restart most races. The computer players are too cheap that there is no way I could get through all the stages without dying. I am already working on Queen of Route 66 and will be finished with it pretty soon.

If I do that, I will likely start fully powered up, unlike my other video of that mode. Still, it's not something I will do for a while, since it's not a super short mode and I'm currently working on some other things.
