The strapwrench is an essential tool in astrophotography 🙂. I'd suggest to buy a second one to make your life easier. Instead of using your mount as a workbench (😱) you can place the ota on a flat surface, use one strapwrench to secure it and the other to twist.
Nice video. I have the same scope and accessories. Same difficulty with getting the focuser and next section off, it was a bit difficult to remove. Harbor Freight much cheaper for the strap wrench. I really like my scope no issues with my stars either.
Nice review. I have had only one night out with my 103. I have the 1.0 and .8 reducer. I’ve heard not so good things about the .6. Your images look great. Any issues with back focus with the .6? Some have said it needs 0.5 to 1 mm additionally space.
Thanks for watching this one. Naw no problems at all with the .6. The stars in the corners and edges need a small adjustment to backfocus yes but it's too small for me to worry about, However .5 mm of additional spacing is nice in the corners and edges.
I've never shot through a Starizona Apex so I'm sorry I can't tell ya. I mentioned in this video that would be my next thing to shoot in OSC to see how well it focuses the colors in one spot. I mainly shoot mono but I think it would be worth doing for OSC shooters.
I suppose it's not fair to ask why you didn't just get the askar V. Considering the cost of all the reducers etc. Maybe I'll re-visit Niko's comparison video. Either way, it gives some serious food for thought.
Great channel man! Enioyed watching some of your older videos as well. Subscribed and looking forward to more!
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate you and welcome to the channel!
Great job! Just the info I needed.....Thank You
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Just orderd mine with the .8x
Thank you for the great video, as always!
Nice! Enjoy your new scope! Hopefully you will have some clear shooting nights when it arrives

Oh man I should have went there. Glad to know I wasn't alone with that issue
Your data is very clean, at 0.6x I think the stars look great! I'm still trying to decide between the 103apo and the 120apo.
Thanks! I was quite lucky that with the transparency that evening. Well most of the Night lol. Hopefully, this helped in someway

The images came out really nice! May I ask, do you shoot at unity gain? Thank You
Thanks! Appreciate it. Yes I shoot at unity gain!
Nice video! What is the 0.6X reducer backfocus ?
Just requires 55mm
What brand of filter wheel are you using - that looks small for the Askar.
ZWO 5 position mini electronic filter wheel Works great with my ASI294MM pro
How would that compare to the Starizona version I wonder, also do you shoot OSC so we can see how it works for CA?

yes please it's on my want list so would love to see how it performs

May I ask you one question regarding the 103 please:
Would you prefer the x1 Flattener or the x0.8 reducer???
Of course you can. If you don't need the 700mm focal length then for sure the .8x reducer for faster photo speeds
So fast, it finishes before it starts
Will any filter have influence on the 55mm distance to the Sensor??
Yes, if you want to get the specific backfocus distance to add you can calculate that by taking the filter thickness you are using and divide it by 3.
I suppose it's not fair to ask why you didn't just get the askar V. Considering the cost of all the reducers etc. Maybe I'll re-visit Niko's comparison video. Either way, it gives some serious food for thought.
Larger aperture would be my guess, and way more faster with the 0.6
What is your sensor size?
In this video 4/3 in my OSC testing videos it was APS-C
