  • In this video, I explore the capabilities of the Askar 103 Telescope with the 0.8x Flattener Reducer. I share new insights I have discovered since my last video and showcase the results of the star performance and the flatness of the field it produces.
    This lens allows you to shoot twice as fast and widens your field of view to 560mm.
    Thanks to my subscribers and thank you for 1100 subs! I am a tiny channel and I appreciate you all for following my journey in astrophotography.

    Great & informative video as always and what an absolute beautiful image you got from the rosette! The little video series of the 103APO really helps me with my decision! Looking forward to your next one. CS Tobi

    I haven't been subscribed to your channel for long, but I already like the way you present information and show the equipment to the viewers. Beautiful photo as well. :)

      Hey thanks! Appreciate you subscribing! I'm glad this channel is helpful! It's one of the reasons I started this channel. I wanted to help and have things explained and shown the way I needed them to be when I started. Thanks for watching this one!

    Thank you, it's a very interesting test. I'm looking forward to the test with the 0.6 redeser.

    As for the screws holding the lens in place, a very very subtle anticlockwise turn should be enough to not pinch the optics. This scope will shine with the flattener and the 0.8 but in other reviews I've seen the 0.6 might not be as good.

    I can’t decide between the Asksr 103 apo and the William Optics Flourostar 91 . Would love to see a comparison

    I'm on the fence between this scope and the Apertura 75Q that's on sale for $999 right now...but I'm leaning towards the 103 because it's quite versatile between the flattener, 0.8 reducer, & 0.6 reducer. Plus I already have a similar FOV to the 75Q, with my Z73.

    My 103APO is supposed to be here in a couple of hours, along with the 1x, 0.8x and 0.6x reducer/flatteners, and Glory Be! the forecast is for a run of clear nights through to the new moon. Should be an interesting week.

    Nice video, I'm considering to buy that scope as well and all the reducers/flattners. It looks like a well rounded scope with many possible uses. What is your first impression on it? Thanks 😊

      Thanks! I'm still formulating an opinion on it as this series continues on my channel. I think after the. 6x video I'll have a better conclusion. However what I can tell you is the scope is very sharp and appears to be corrected well. Hopefully I'll get more information out soon

    Question? The piece on the back that reduces the threads to 48mm , that is where you thread in the filter to the back side of that? And where did you measure 55mm from?

    • @astronotna
      @astronotna  Před 5 měsíci

      I showed that here in the .6x video. Here's a link it starts at 13:45. Also 55mm is measured at the flange. As long as your imaging train is 55mm and screw it on to the askar reducer / flattners it will serve you well

    Great video as always - however, the focus scale is millimeters, not inches. That's 32mm (approximately 1.25 inches). I noticed this discrepancy on your 1.0X video as well.

    Now that you have used this scope for a bit, how do you compare this to your C6?

    • @astronotna
      @astronotna  Před 9 dny

      It's funny that you mention that. I was thinking about making a video about just that. Kind of an end of summer thing. To answer your question though it's really hard to say. I like the ease and image quality of the refractor but cost aperture and speed of a c6 with hyperstar can't be ignored either. I struggle with comparing the two. They are so similar in so many ways. I think I need to make that video for me lol! We will see what happens.

    • @davideie
      @davideie Před 9 dny

      @@astronotna that would be great, I already have the c6 was thinking of using a asi533 with it, have the reducer and then was thinking of getting the Hyperstar at a later date. But most people on forums always say refractors are a lot easier for getting into astrophotography.

    • @astronotna
      @astronotna  Před 9 dny

      533 would be great! I'm slowly getting around to using it on my Hyperstar. Refractors are pretty easy tho. If you already have a C6 and are used to collamation Hyperstar would be a breeze for ya!
