Forget these people who are complaining, please keep explaining. My son and I love playing this game and have modified the rules. We are building armies for war of the ring and we are modifing these rules to bring things into better balance,
I'm trying to drum up some more interest at my local GW to get more people playing this excellent game. It's simpler than wfb or 40k which lends itself to feeling like a more casual game, whilst still retaining the opportunity for tactical play. Thank you for running this series of videos and I hope it encourages others to give it a try.
Thanks for the game preview. I don't live near any hobby stores where one could talk or watch games played similar to this. Will be waiting for next part!
this was really helpful. I am used to 40k so the rules didnt make sense until I saw it demoed. The armor was confusing until she explained no armor saves...
Great video but War of the Rings didn't fail due to the rules set or points costs it failed due to the cost of collecting a usable force. I was a Games workshop employee at the time and remember all the meetings around it...
when haldir and the uruks were rolling, it was done to see who would win the combat. each side rolls all of its attacks (haldir has 2 attacks vs uruks with 4, one from each uruk in the fight). after the uruks win the fight, they each then get to roll all of their attacks to try and wound him. rolling to win the fight and rolling to wound are two separate things. the rolls don't "cancel" each other or anything.
Great video Alexandra! i was wondering if you could do a video which tells us about your Wings of Fury chapter because im really interested in them and they seem great. thnx
LOTR's - some say it's dead.. well I like the models .. there terrific, I do like the game. Thank you for sharing your like of the game with us... I understand that you CAN pick your own lists. You can load up on heroes only or all trolls or all cavalry or all infantry. The only real restriction is the bow limit of 33% but that is relaxed in some armies i.e Harad.
nice tutorial,i like to see more abut lotr game.beside this game i like necromunda old forgoten game from gw.,i hope that gw will make reedition of necromunda in future
There are new restrictions. While the Mines of Moria mini rule book and the main rule book line out the rules for the Strategy Battle Game they did change the way you build your army with the new source books.
I like that game. The new sourcebooks are more or less like a codex for the different factions with fluff and new scenarios. But you can play the game with the rulebook alone. I bought the Moria-Starterbox... there you get all you need (espacially the whole fellowship ^^).
What about legions of middle-earth, in that book they show you the possible alliances, so you can't field dol amroth with rivendell, where does that apply?
can you do a tutorial on the Eldar Avatar? I am using it for an army but since it is my HQ I want it to look very good and I don't know how to paint it.
Can you explain to me how multiple unit combat works? Like the one with Haldir and the 4 urukhai? I dont understand how the Uruks managed to get 4 chances to wound him with haldir rolled a 4 to match one of theirs. Shouldnt it have been only 3? How could Haldir win that combat?
Legions of middle-earth is a long outdated army composition book. Any Good side army can ally with other Good armies, provided they follow the warband rules. The same goes for Evil of course.
LOL! I love that Alexandra says that War of the Ring is an epic fail due to the unbalanced army lists - which is exactly right. Next time Ihope GW don't ask Matt Ward (Ringwraith fanboy) and Jeremy Vetock not to write it.
Sehr nette einführung, hab schon lange überlegt auch mit dem Sys. anzufangen jedoch sagen mir die Modelle nicht besonders zu^^ wäre cool wenn du deinen videos deutsche untertitel vepassen würdest^^
I think she is right. You are refering to the tournament-rules. But those are not part of the core-rulebook :) And if you are playing just for the fun of it... well only the points are there to limit your imagination! That's the cool thing about it (although I prefer armies that fit in the lord of the rings canon...). And by the way... 3000 € for minatures!? Your collection has to be enormous... and you are either wealthy or now out of money... I dont't know o_O

good video. covered all the important rules. gotta say LOTR of a solid, balanced game. Its a shame it is not more popular.
This was my first miniatures game, that I ever played. It's a nice game.
Anytime I hear a skyrim dragon roar, I think of your channel intro!!! haha
great video! more lord of the rings videos please!
Very well done,keep it up!
2:05 , there are actually a few limitations , e.g. 1/3 max archers, # of banners is limited to # heroes , etc ...
Very helpful, thank you.

awesome! like the Tutorial! oh and here in our local gaming store we divide the games by calling it SBG or War. how many points of uruk do you have?
Would you consider recording a game or part of one? To show how a game actually plays through? (I'm new to the war gaming scene) :J
how do you meen??
nice intro
It's spelt strategy, plural is when you change it to strategie(s) ^^. (for the description)
Yeaaaah
I think you are preparing for the Hobbit strategy game, hopefully it will be similar or better :D
the war of the ring, the new warbands and sourcebooks and the old mines of moria's release time's rules are all different.
Oooo standard bearer should have gotten a re-roll for having a banner!
I was thinking of buying a few Uruk hai and silven elves to play with my brother
Is there really gonna be one? I think they maybe gonna do some new minuatures - but a complete game?
LOL! I love that Alexandra says that War of the Ring is an epic fail due to the unbalanced army lists - which is exactly right. Next time Ihope GW don't ask Matt Ward (Ringwraith fanboy) and Jeremy Vetock not to write it.

You forgot to add the plus one shield defense on the warrior of Rohan
Which country are you from.
There was a reason why GW opted to retain the rights to all things LoTR!! ;-D
