That moment of Obi-Wan apologizing to Anakin legitimately had my heart feel hard. 💔 Vader's voice mixing between Hayden and James's voice was fantastic, and thr performances just made it stick for me.

In my opinion this might be the best piece of star wars content we've gotten in years, yes even better than the mandalorian. The way this show serves as a character study for both Obi-Wan and Vader as well as tieing together the prequel and original trilogies as well as providing us likeable new characters is just great. Sure there's a few hiccups here and there and some things could have been better, but imo the negligible negatives are far outweighed by the overwelming positives. I am very thankful that this show exists.

Ewan's best moments are the realization that Anakin is alive, and when he says he sorry for everything thats happened between them(Even though its entirely or even necessarily his fault Anakin ended up in a suit of armor). Like Obi-wan DID NOT WANT what happened in III. This might be against the original starwars vision but to me I think Obi-wan still misses his old friend even if he is accepting the current situation of his former friend.
Honestly, I always felt the POV thing he says in ROTJ was flimsy but....watching this series, it really helped me emphasize with Ben on this, it really did look like Anakin is non existent if you go through Obi-wan's eyes only. I didn't necessarily cry or anything but I'd be a fool to ignore the clear emotions going on in the show.

Revenge of the Sith is still very good, but here, McGregor sounds much closer to Alec Guinness than he did before. It makes me almost forgive the fact that Alec Guinness hated Star Wars, all because of this heartwarming callback. And of course, easily the best episode in this series was the finale, when we had Obi-Wan and Vader's intense duel followed by the appearance of Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn... I don't mind the idea of Obi-wan smuggling Leia out of the Fortress in his coat, but I do have a problem with how they did it. She could have held onto his chest with the coat around her, but no, she had awkwardly walk off the the side with her little feet sticking out of the coat next to Obi-wan's. It still would have been pretty obvious that he had someone in his coat, but nowhere near as ridiculously blatantly obviously so.

It's the sound effect for Death Trooper blasters, specifically the one used in _Star Wars Rebels._

I enjoyed this show immensely. Was it perfect? Nothing is. Are there story elements I thought would work better? Of course, but I can say that about anything. But the gripes about this show are legless. They did a wonderful job. And as a fan Rupert Friend, I knew he was going to own that role, regardless of the look. The bitching is going to fade, and this will go down in the best of Star Wars category.

Was the vision of Anakin/Vader a mirage or could it have been a connection through the Force. You hear that rumbling sound when you see it. It's possible that Vader projected himself as Anakin. I couldn't tell if he looked disfigured or not because they didn't give him a very close up look.

The “saber bash” in my view came from the Episode III video game where you could unlock Darth Vader & (old) Ben Kenobi, Ben had a grapple move or similar where you could bash Vader with the bottom of Ben’s hilt and with additional damage taken Vader’s breathing would change.

If someone has mentioned this already I apologize. To me it felt like there was a purposeful attempt to give Vader a similar desire/need to kill Obi Wan compared to Kylo and Han. It felt like to me Vader’s obsession with killing Obi Wan was an attempt to end his conflicted feelings which just like Kylo did not.

I have a question for you guys- everyone keeps saying “impossible for Obi Wan to not have heard the name Vader in 10 years” but like… did he ever know him as Vader? He must have mentioned it on Mustafar but I don’t remember that. As far as I know his last time seeing him was as “Anakin”

I think when he watches the hologram in the temple he hears Anakin referred to as Vader, but I might be misremembering that. But I still don't think it's impossible that he did not hear of Vader. He seemed pretty cut off from the universe.

I think the reason the Grand Inquisitor wasn't given a larger head is because the Utapauan makeup in Ep3 was *extremely* bulky, clunky, and thick. For a slow-moving "regal" character who had so little screentime he may have just been an extra, whose "big" scenes were intended to be high-value hero shots showing off his facial detail, that works fine.
But for a side character with a lot of screentime who's intended to engage in strenuous fights, I can imagine that for the actor's sake it was better to just use facepaint. I have no doubt they didn't at least *consider* using a mask at first - don't forget that a lot of artists who worked on the Prequels are still working at Lucasfilm today.

Regarding Vader's voice: Respeacher is a "voice cloning" system that allows a vocal performance to be filtered so that it sounds like another person's voice. They used it to have Hayden Christensen's performance sound like James Earl Jones's voice.

Obi-Wan may not have said Hello There until the end, but he did have another trolly kind of comment with Flee’s character saying “you made me bleed” and Obi-Wan laughingly saying “yes well everyone bleeds” right before he set off the spice bomb.
