We ultrasonically clean/rebuild Huayi Carburetor on Craftsman, Troy Built, MTD, Yard Machines Snowblower with Powermore engine
We go through the full diagnostic and repair process and show each step to ensure you can get your snowblower back running again.
Normal symptoms of this problem are unit won't start, snowblower won't stay running, starts but dies when you take it off choke or one that Surges or dies when put under a load.
The customer said this one ran fine when they put it away and after sitting the snowblower would not start.
They all come back to the same issue and repair process!
Always check the oil level before starting. Sometimes fuel can be mixed into the crankcase which will cause major issues if started like this.
This is an MTD powermore engine used on almost all MTD Pro units, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Yard Machines, Bolens, Troy Bilt, Yard Man, White Outdoor, etc.
The same/similar design engine is used also on Toro, Briggs & Stratton, Powersmart and Simplicity units to name a few.
They put these on 123cc, 179cc and 208cc models of these units
You carburetor part number 951-14026A can be purchased at amzn.to/3RguvkS
If you replace the carburetor, be sure to check and clean the new carburetor because the quality control is not good. This does not matter if you are using OEM or aftermarket replacement. They should both be checked before installing. See our video on this also!

I fixed small engines/ gas equipment for the NYC department of Sanitation for 15 years.
THIS video was superb.
Well done, brother-🤙
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!!
I work on 15 per year, but still watched your video. Well done! Very quick and accurate
Awesome! Thank you I appreciate that! Our new mechanic was just doing one yesterday I thought about showing him this but figured I would let him dislike it some first haha thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips and procedure. I was going to take off way more than needed to remove my carb. Great help.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Well done. You are a good mechanic and I’ve seen hundreds in shops for 57 years as shop Forman
Thank you Phillip appreciate that!
He’s got these machines down in his head for sure
Must have done hundreds every year
These are one of the most popular style once sold around here. We do around 250 total a year of this engine model and replace about 70 of these carburetors every year
Amazing video
Thanks for watching!!
Great video thank you
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Great video!!
Thank you!!
way to go very good. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I have the exact snowblower to fix this weekend although mine is in Troy-Bilt colors, same MTD Powermore machine though. MIne blew out the recoil and took out the starter cup and plastic cooling fan!! I ALWAYS replace the Torch spark plugs.
Only a good place for a torch plug is in the trash!!
They are short life and can cause crazy running engines
I just put new carb in mine, which is a Craftsman. New sparkplug, oil and carb. Only thing I did not do was new gaskets. It did run on first pull, but it races! Even when new I dont recall it going that fast. It's on ssteroids! Is there something wrong with it? The governor link seems to be working fine btw. I'd appreciate any suggestions/comments. Thank you!!! Wish I had seen this video sooner. Keep up the good work!!!!
An air leak between the carburetor and engine or cracked insulator will cause this
Any possible way you can share a video of installing a fuel shutoff valve on this exact engine/carb setup?
There really is not a good way to do that on this model unfortunately. All of the fuel line is enclosed in the shroud, it would have to be a pretty shrewd repair. Sorry I cannot help here. Thanks for watching!
What's the labor with parts cost excellent quality mechanic you are
Normally an hour to hour and a half labor (depending on the shop and what all is needing done) plus parts. The total repair on this for us would be about $115 but many shops would be significantly higher because their labor rates are $120/hr or higher and many would charge more than an hour labor. Thanks for watching!
Hey great video, I picked up on the shutoff with the short hose to catch the old fuel, neat trick
Have you found anywhere to buy just those plastic idle jets?
The jet can be bought from MTD but we do not use them normally. The price of a new carburetor is not much more, if I remember they were around $20
@@IndRepair hey thanks for getting back to me. Yes that's what I have found also, the new carb is pretty much the same price as just the jet, they're only plastic you'd think you could get a bag of them for that. Ran across a trick the Predator race guys use to richen them up without drilling the jet, they remove the lower o ring on it to stop it hunting at idle. Seems to work, have a merry Christmas
Good tip!!
Did you inspect the tank nipple filter? Did I miss it? I usually remove them to clean them.
I always inspect from the tank fill hole when cleaning. This gets cleaned when we flush and use compressor air to dry the tank. If the tank is rusted on the inside that is a different story and we replace the whole tank.
Great video. Same engine as mine. Worked on mine in summer Cover bolts wanted to bind in sheet metal.
Winter coming, shop has no heat. Any suggestions to keep learning is appreciated. Thanks.
@@steveriggenbach90 They tend to want to go in crooked for sure. Straighten them out and run them down, should be good. Hopefully the nut is not spinning in the plastic cross threaded at this point? Thanks for watching!
@@IndRepair watching your snowblower videos again. Just a tip I found for getting flat throttle knob off. The little window that it snaps on, j put a little lube in there. Pops of a lot easier.
Great tip!
where can I find that spark tester please?
You can find one at www.rcpw.com/trillium-spc-7200-spark-checkr-engine-spark-tester-ignition-analyzer-for-small-engines-motorcycles-and-more/
All this for brand new equiptment?????
Way of the new age apparently!! Thanks for watching!
WHRE CAN I FOUND THE GASKETS thanks
Same as gaskets used on Honda GX160. amzn.to/46KF3yz has gasket set and plastic insulator
I’m sure you’ll busy in winter but I cut out gaskets for summer jobs during cold days at kitchen table Lololo
If your machine run for five minutes and stall remove the L shape fuel for the carburetor and removed the small screen inside the carburetor they are always full of crap. Every morepower engine have them inside and you thing that carburetor is done but it's only that little screen inside which is dirty.
It is definitely a cause of this but I don't see it happening often. Normally the filter in the tank will catch the debris unless it's in really bad shape. Thanks for watching!
Great Detail, sub'd. I have the same machine, can't get the governor set right. The plastic plunger had come off inside. Put it back on, set the arm clockwise (and everything in between) and get a variety of results, none correct. I've tried everything. New Carb and Gas. I have a video on my other channel (short). czcams.com/video/RtR4u9LMF1Q/video.html
It sounds like it might have an air leak? Try spraying carb cleaner between carb and plastic toward intake or between intake plastic and block. One of those gaskets has to be leaking or the carb had metal shavings in the bottom. See if it smooths out with some choke? Normally the governor will be super high if it is the issue (or really low)
If it’s acting crazy replace it Asap. Governor can destroy a engine
