Healthy foods aren't always more expensive. A bundle of bananas is cheaper than a box of snack cakes. 😉
Buy on sale & in season!
    Love your video!!

I am likely a bit older than your target audience. I have been in the workforce around 20+ years. When I was growing up, the only 'good' option for my life was said to be college and a career. Everything else was somehow 'less' or 'failure'. Homemaking was not taught to me in this way. Obviously, my Mom did cook and clean, her house was spotless, but I will venture to say she was not a homemaker. She didn't teach me how to take pride or enjoyment from the household tasks. They were just chores, and ultimately it shaped my view of housework. Which was, until somewhat recently, a negative view. (Also, once I was old enough, my Mom did work outside the home full time and many chores fell to me.) Fast forward to the pandemic and being laid off from a job I had for 14 years. A job, not a career or passion. A paycheck only. Thankfully, my husband and I had done the Dave Ramsey plan and were 100% debt free and had an emergency fund. And we honestly hadn't been in the position very long before the layoff. It took a few months for me to get over the shock of the layoff and from a tedious hiring process during which I ultimately didn't get the job applied for. I needed real downtime. And after a month of a depressed state and not really job hunting, it dawned on me. We were financially ok. I went over the numbers several times before going to my husband. I even began throwing myself into my new job as homemaker. I was enjoying myself, and creating more time and comfort for my family. I then felt ready and spoke to my husband. He was in agreement and I officially became a homemaker. It took a lot of time and convincing for some people, including my Mom, to accept my new role. We had to defend the non-monetary benefits to me being home. Finally, things calmed down and other than the occasional comment about job openings, the family has accepted it. More importantly, I fully accept it myself now. I hate the negative stigma there is in people caring for their homes and families. We are so much happier! There is more free time and less stress on everyone! I am still learning how to do this efficiently, but I am so thankful to live a part of my life like this. I hope more young people are taught that this is OK and valid and valuable. Money is not everything there is! Thank you for your lovely videos. They are helping an older women learn something she wished she could have sooner!

Shopping the perimeter of the supermarket helps soo much to save money. Also cooking at least 90% of our meals saves us money. Homemakers are really creative with budgeting. Great tips!

I do the same thing with the fake online shopping! Haha once I get it in my cart it’s kind of like... oh... I really don’t want to spend all that money lol. That tip totally makes sense to me! It can be fun to just get the excitement of shopping but not the sadness of the money spent afterwards.

I work outside the home several hours a day for 3 days a week. The point is now I have more time to be constructive about how I spend my time. I really plan on being more aware of where our money goes. Canning, preserving and dehydrating my foods and gardening is saving money.
