This tutorial is very good, in its simplicity, in showing how to take a bridge off. So many of the other commentaries found on youtube skip a quantum leap so that you are lost as to how to do this in reality. Heat is very important here. So, what to use. ? A regular iron, an industrial iron, a hair dryer, a glue pot etc.? How to heat your spatulas?. Guitar guy pretty well answered this .

Wow I think I would have come at it from the far side a little before "popping" the bridge off like that. Don't you run the risk of tearing up some major top wood by making it pop like that?
Actually by coming at it at the opposite side you may have more of a tendency to dig down into the top wood in my opinion. Also the sort of glue used on guitars - either hide glue or even a TiteBond sort of wood glue is very hard once cured. Almost like glass when fully cured. By using the spatula on top of the glue and constant heat the glue just softens over time and the bridge comes loose from the top. And truthfully I'm not sure I intended it to pop off that dramatically! Thanks!
How does the hair dryer concentrate heat to certain areas better than the hot iron you were using? I thought the iron looked like the ideal way to direct heat with more precision than blowing hot air Seems like blowing hot air would disperse way beyond your targeted area
Say you were going through a collection of CZcams videos trying to replace a bad bridge job put on an old Alvarez 5065 in otherwise perfect condition, and none of them really covered how to get started on a bridge that was all the way glued down, and none of them mentioned that too much heat can damage the lacquer, and then you watched this and decided to get a low power heat gun normally used for cell phone screen replacement and have a go at the bridge, all taped up like you showed in the video, only to then remove the tape and discover you've absolutely ruined the lacquer finish? Like is there a video on here that would actually show me how to fix this, because this guitar cost me $500, and its from the 70's, and I really like it, and quite honestly, having used this site to successfully do tons of repairs that were outside my field of expertise, quite honestly most of the guitar videos on here are kind of half-assed pieces of garbage, in one form or another. Maybe if I'd watched 30 of them I would have had all the information needed to avoid this, but quite honestly it's hard to know what you don't know, ya know? FUCK!!!!

Do you still have that bridge you removed? Looks like a BC Rich acoustic bridge from the 70's.
What did you use to remove to glue? And where can I get one?
Actually it's nothing fancy, just a single sided Razor Blade from a Sheet Rock knife.
