  • Building, digging, planting, watering, weeding... It's been a lot of work to transform this patch of dirt into my little mountain dreamland.
Those days spent working outside actually allowed a lot of mind space, to think and refine my self-employed strategy.
I've never talked about my excessive attention to detail. Because I never thought that was a problem. Until I recently accepted to see that the more I create videos, the longer my creation process becomes. I would lately spend 3 entire weeks to put a 15 minute video together. And of course, youtube is not my only occupation. But still, those aren't what I consider healthy - normal timeframes.
This video represents the imperfect, unsharp arrow I needed to shoot in order to let go of my perfectionism.
It's a mess, but it's okay. With every try, I am learning. ♡

I hope you read this comment, I just wanted to say that it is actually the opposite - the more natural you are on camera, the more "unprepared", the more you talk about your daily life simply the way you feel about it, the more authentic it is :)

Being authentic is what people are drawn to. It is what makes a good vlogger. Not someone who comes up with interesting things, one who is interesting because they are themselves. Thank you for walking the path and sharing it.

I've been trying to find a new place to move to since 2015. I thought I had found a surrealistically beautiful (affordable) home (actually a manufactured home) this past February. It is in a small town high in the hills of Sothern California. I currently live in a city in the desert (Phoenix Arizona, US} I thought leaving here would be a step backward. But after watching your video this morning, I finally gathered the nerve to call the real estate agent and make an offer on the place. I wanted to let you know your videos made a difference in my life. I'll keep watching. Thanks and best of luck to you!

I really want to start a garden and maybe even build a tiny house, but I have zero idea as to how to start. Like you, I'm a lvl 80 perfectionist, it's either all or nothing, and this freezes me.

Two things for you: A book entitled "How to Be An Imperfectionist" by Stephen Guise-super helpful for setting oneself free of the chains of perfectionism (worked for me very well after 50+years of being stuck in it). Secondly-you don't have to make vlogs, you could make meditations with b roll footage of your lovely landscape. Or do distant healing sessions for the collective or make how-to videos for spiritual seekers. Just some ideas. And in case you don’t know what to show us. Sometimes the small and „unimportant“ things are the one that can matter the most. Like in this video, saying that you say sorry to all these beautiful plants who have to make space for other ones. Gardening, for me, takes so much time because I have to save all the little animals and overthink a lot, if this digging in the ground is necessary. Ah. This stresses me out a lot. But yeah. At the end I am feeling more connected and less destructive.

Hi Vanille!... You said you get tired fast after the gardening... notice you still have energy. It is only fatigue. I have the same thing sometimes... things that can help, is to interact with the vegetation and the earth while you work it. My family never takes it into consideration, but my father when he gardens, he sings songs or listens to spiritual podcasts in his native tongue. My grandmother would talk to the flowers. My grandpa would talk to the bees. And often times in their retired garden community, the garderners would have someone turn on russian radio through an American stereo. How poor quality the reception was, they blasted it all the way and listened to the broadcasted stories of the elders, while the dog walkers would pass by. 🙂 Even myself, I find it so much easier to construct my greenhouse outside when I listen to podcasts of russian monks, long passed away. 🙂

you really inspired me to find what I want to do. from as early as I can remember I grew up in a city and everything seemed so rushed and everyone gave importance to the things that didn't matter. life seemed like a loop you wake up and you do your 9-5 and then go back to bed. everything seemed so dull and everyone around me was rushed. your videos give me a idea of what i want for the first time in a long time . i always just followed what i was told , go to school, get good grades and then get a job, but you showed me that in life you should do what you want and anything is possible. you showed me that instability but being happy is far better then being stable and unhappy. so from the bottom of my heart .thank you.

I've feen following your vlogs for quite some time, they are visually such artwork and food for the soul. So beautifully executed and giving so much food for thought in all your honesty and unique approach towards life. What I especially like is how you show your deepest feelings, whether they were insecurities or triumphs. I wish you can allow yourself to embrace yourself as you are, not needing to be funny when you're not feeling it, or ever feeling your everyday life wouldn't be interesting because it very much is. I'm struggling with similar perfectionism which I think makes my life unflexible and I try to ease a bit, succeeding with varying success. Most of all I want to remind you ( and myself)we don't need to be anything else than ourselves in the way that feels natural to us on a given day ❤

I think those white worms may have been grubworms, which eat strawberry plant roots. Your chickens will know what to do with them.
A trick I use when trying to get dirt for something like a planter is to take off the top layer of ground with all the grass and roots and flip it upside down in the very bottom of the planter. Then put a good thick layer of loose dirt on top. I do the same thing when planting trees and such in the ground.

Youre friend's bleeding nose could be taken care of very easily, the specialist in the hospital close by could finish the problem in minutes.
I have done this some time ago, and it never came back, they just 'burn' the vain with cold-liquid, and is a simple solution without pain.
It is not the problem you have, but the action you take...or something like that :-)
