#animals #wildlife #animalfacts Kauaʻi ʻōʻō Bird, a loved bird found on the second oldest island in Hawaii that has been extinct since 1987. Is this the saddest story of extinction?
The Last Kauai Ō'Ō bird was singing a mate call, The song sometimes pauses because the lines sung there were for the Female bird. But little did he know he'd be singing the song Half-Assed.
I'm from Kauai so I know this story since I was little, the scientist sadly also passed when hew was hiking alone in a mountain in the big island and fell, happened in 2007 same year I was born. Since he was a famous person here he's used as a cautionary tale not to hike alone specially in the mountains RIP
A big reason for their extinction is not deforestation, but the introduction of invasive species to the island. This is a perfect example of how if you don’t control an invasive species population any chance you get, the balance of nature can be thrown off and native species will go extinct. The invasive species that made them go extinct caused them to starve. These invasive animals were rats, boars, and mosquitoes.
Poor bird knowing that he is the mail bird. It’s like he trying to find a smiley a friend so he sings and sings until he gets a response till he died may you R.I.P
Reason of extinction: it was a bird living on the islands of Hawaii, the last male was spotted on a tree branch calling for a female witch would never come, and the Last Kauai Ō’o died to [Rats, Mosquitos, and Hurricane Iwa and Iniki.]
Cloning is still possible with samples from a museum. With CRISPR technology you can construct missing parts so you don't necessarily need closely related species. Texas based company Colossal Biosciences for example is working at the deextinction of several species. If the local population of Hawaii and the US administration can work together with Colossal, there might be an opportunity to bring back not only the Kauai O'O but many other local species extincted in the last two centuries and reconstruct the ecosystem...

Sadly no, that bird is the very last member of it's species, there's no other birds that are related close enough to them to be possible to make a clone
you must be people with knowlegdes of birds world. n then only from that u can identify it is the same bird. but i dont think its the same, bcos kauai o'o birds were "ENDEMIC SPECIES" to only kauai island. endemic means specific for a certain places or one place only
My father apparently heard the sound in the jungle of malaysia
Yes i heard this at 2015 in kuala lumpur and now is no more

To think this bird also likely lived through WWII, to see everything fade away rapidly and suddenly, it must be a horrifying prospect to think of.

So humans introduced those invasive species. Yet another human fault

It's not that easy.
@@ktqtzzSadly the Entire Species of these Birds and the Genome Family is all Extinct. There are no Lineages or Links left to help 🧬 DNA.

We didn't hear this bird if it wasn't for you,

But you can make a clone right ?

@@thevicious1.Then just find 2 similar birds and clone them then call that bird kauai oo
Singing for a female, who will never come😢
Is the ōō bird a dino bird can u make the sound with a radio
You know, it could have dodged extinction if the male died before the female, because the female would have reproduced.
R.I.P O'o😢
i've seen that a youtuber can clone dna, i dont know if its the same for birda, but maybe the beauty of hes sing can revive.
You cant clone people lol
He's not real mate
It went extinct cause it’s weather it died in a tornado ( I think )
