Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls (Studio Version)

Lyrics:
Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On they fight, for they're right, yes, but who's to say?
For a hill men would kill, why? They do not know
Suffered wounds test their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Time marches on
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Take a look to the sky just before you die
It's the last time he will
Blackened roar, massive roar fills the crumbling sky
Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry
Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery
He hears the silence so loud
Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be
Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Time marches on
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Hudba

Looks for a place to stand.
Make sure you dont die inside or you will only see the ceiling
And point your fingers at your eyes just like Cliff did.

This is seriously my favorite song off this album, it's the best when I play the air bass and the kids at the bus stop look at me like "What the fuck is wrong with him"
Me too I live in the hood and when I'm listening to Metallica head banging on the bus Stop ppl look at me like I'm crazy.
Ya i agree ejaculation on my sceen from this song its like i just fucked a hooker
Plot twist you're the bus driver and your name is Otto
Haha that’s my dad right there, gotta love it
So, wanna know a secret? I am from the Hood. Akakakak... Neighborlyhood. THUS, SHALL Thee plot .. what ? No seriously.. can you hear thus.. ? Can you see thus.. do you ??

One of my classmates in the 1980s got called to the Principal for devil worshiping for wearing Metallica tee shirts. The smile on his face.
I got called to the principal's office for wearing a t-shirt that said kill them all let God sort them out didn't go over very well
Whose face was the smile on.
@@raymondstone9636 He smiled because the principal was so stupid not to know that metal did not mean devil worship though most metal bands were using Satanic imagery and frankly most of the students thought this guy was a devil worshiper. It was the dawn of heavy metal. Hell, they took Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne to court for hidden messages on records played backwards causing kids to commit suicide.

Dude, I can imagine an army marching and preparing to combat to the sound of bellz in an war movie or cartoon (despite it's lyrics being anti-war, it fits so good the idea that I just can't stop imaginating the sound of guns being clenched or boots hiting the ground in the same pace as Lars' snare)
Thanks for the badass image in my mind
Fr though !!
This was played before the invasion of Fallujah in the early Iraq war. Psyops dropped pamphlets into the city saying the Marines were coming and anyone left when they got there would be considered hostile.
I can just imagine a Halo movie, all the Marines getting ready, this playing in the background
We came we saw WE KICKED THEIR ASS!!!
Brings me back to when I was 15. Went out and bought a 500 watt surround sound stereo system. Cranked it up as loud as it would go and blasted this. Needless to say, my duplex neighbors (and everyone else on the block) weren’t too pleased. But it was totally worth it.
When i'll be 90 years old, i'll still be listening to this song

Awesome!! When I was younger; I played D 1 Hockey at a very prestigious Nee England prep school. I was there on scholarship(full) or I would not have been there. So, I wore the C on my Jersey, so I would lead my team out onto the ice. And, I git to chose what song we came out to. My team was average talent wise. But, we came out to this playing against Avon Old Farms; whom(😄) had 5 kids already drafted by the NHL. I had them shut the lights off, and then the lights came on with this song we all came out! I could see in their eyes-fear, we hit them every time one of them touched the puck. I, and my teammates physically dominated the 2nd RANKED H.S Hockey team in the country! We beefin 6 to 3! Like the Blues did to the Boston Bruins.

Hear the tolling of the bells-
Iron bells!
What a world of solemn thought their monody compels!
In the silence of the night,
How we shiver with affright
At the melancholy menace of their tone!
For every sound that floats
From the rust within their throats
Is a groan.
And the people-ah, the people-
They that dwell up in the steeple,
All alone,
And who tolling, tolling, tolling,
In that muffled monotone,
Feel a glory in so rolling
On the human heart a stone-
They are neither man nor woman-
They are neither brute nor human-
They are Ghouls:
And their king it is who tolls
Matt Lothe it rolls for thee

One and Only Gaming Metallica and old Metal bands will live forever man.
Are you kidding? Metallica is literally the most popular metal band in the world, everyone knows this song
For Whom The Bell Tolls > Enter Sandman
well put
+Corroded not even a comparison
Comparing anything off of Ride the Lightning to The Black Album is an unfair comparison. Ride the Lightning is pure thrash genius, whereas The Black Album is simply decent.
Thats sadly right since almost all of the post-cliff albums fall into mediocrity (excluding death magnetic, justice for all and hardwired to self destruct)
+Cole Lansburry Not even decent. To me, the Black Album marks the decline of the band. At least in the terms of quality. After AJFA, the last good album, they were quickly becoming more and more mediocre metal band.
Probably the best Metallica song they made. Love m

I was educating my three year old son today letting him pick the songs based on album cover.
I asked him if he knew this band, which of course he did. He says, "It's called Storm Tower" I corrected him but... He's a badass.
First let me say that all of us old dudes (read "taxpayers") who were jamming this in the 80's are indeed still listening to Metallica. (Well, everything on their first 5 albums anyway, but then... >) Anyway, I just wanted to throw out a reminder that the band once said that the inspiration for For Whom The Bell Tolls was taken from the book by Dalton Trumbo titled "Johnny Got His Gun." I highly recommend reading it, and don't cheat yourself by just watching the old movie. Once you've read the book you will understand that Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls is a perfect book review, written in beautiful poetic form, and then set to absolutely killer music. That, children, is what's called "talent." It's what folks back in the day who created, wrote, sang and played THEMSELVES. Not some sampler machine, not something ripped-off from another person, not a dance show, not another headline about who is dating who and/or who might be unsure about their gender, not a pre-programmed cluster of synthetic debris, not a joke. I can truly appreciate and sincerely love all styles of music ranging from Bob Seger to century-old church hymns to Bach to bluegrass banjo to George Jones to Metallica to James Brown to John Denver to those homeless guys filmed playing the piano in CZcams videos. This sort of stuff is all REAL and a critical listener can easily discern it. Now I guess I'll just sit back down in my favorite chair, fire up my Les Paul and Mesa Boogie and keep playing along with these old Metallica tunes at a painful volume. [Richard Pryor once said "You don't get to be old bein' no fool."] God bless y'all, be careful out there, and most of all and most importantly - watch out that you are never deceived because you only get one chance to get it right. [John 14:6]
Imagine this song with that LOW bag pipe note in the background the one that sounds like a massive horn blast, especially in this intro when the lead comes in, that makes you think of a fucking battle man.. gives me chills just imagining it..
War is not fun but thanks for all the people that were in one
I was in one: Yugoslav war(s) of the 1990s.
@@megamillionfreak odd war to be in tbh but I appreciate ya good sir
Billy Mays loves drugs I grew up there, finished high school in 1991, enrolled to University, and then went on to do the 1 year mandatory service. Bam. Country explodes in civil war and ethnic/secessionist rebellions, war for territory by the ethnic groups and “federal states” comprising Yugoslavia. Federal military tried to preserve the country or at least most of territory and population still loyal to central government, quickly becomes de facto Serbian military (I’m Serbian), long story short the war carries on for 4+ years, I served 12 months, 5 months in combat. I’m in America now, and have been for 20 years, and the whole fucking scenario is being played out again here, stoked by the media as always and as in the case of former Yugoslavia.
@@megamillionfreak wait so the situation in Yugoslavia is similar to what's happening here in the US
