2020 GLC 43! New Teeth & New Bite!!

- FINALLY the GLC 43! So far on RBR we have tested the GLC63S in both pre facelift and updated versions, and found the facelift to be better in every area other than sound. Not to mention that crazy loud car in Abu Dhabi! We also tried this car’s elder sibling the GLE53 and fell in love with how much AMG DNA exists within it. But never tried the previous GLC 43!
So today let us take a look at the facelift GLC 43 coupe and see what’s changed!
Firstly: What is a 43 car? They exist in the same entry level family as the 35 and 53 AMG cars, but for the mid size C Class family. That means this car has the V6 Bi Turbo engine as seen in C43. But in the facelift this has been upped to 390BHP an increase of 23HP, with the 520nm, and a 4.9 0-60 - all thanks to software updates mainly!
It is of course all wheel drive too: using the 4MATIC system which is mildly rear-biased split of 31 to 69 percent. Though, not the 100% variable 4Matic + you’d find in both the GLC63S and GLE53!
The looks have taken a big upgrade on the front, with a whole new Facia for the GLC. Gone is the smiley face of old, replaced with the angry one started by the GT family, compare to the previous 43, and there’s a big visual update and we will explore all these changes today too! In the UK we get three different ordering options, which we will also explore.
So a certain injection of more AMG flavour into this facelift, but will it prove itself worthy of the AMG badge?! Today we explore:

It’s nice to see the 43s getting some love. I also love the dual nature of the V6 - put it in Eco mode with Exhaust off when you want to go for a quiet, relaxing drive, or flip it into Sport+ when you want to eat Mustangs, lol.
5 months to go and it will be mine, so damn excited and finally a good review. For me it’s the perfect balance between price and power and luxury.
Thierry A I bought one in 2018 and regret not getting the GLC 63!! It is a lovely car, DONT get me wrong! And does have great balance of family driving easy and also putting your foot down. But bro, I don’t know, sometimes you put you foot down and think “I need more” let me know when you get yours and how nice it is.

We has the first gle43 which was then called gle 450amg but then they renamed the 450amg to 43 amg and i think it was horrible. Way to short gearing and it just felt artificial as fuck. But since then i have no experience with newer 6 cyl amgs. Bet the 53 is nice

Thanks for great video, I picked my AMG GLC 43 on the 1st March..After owning an AMG A45 I was worried about sound, engine power and overall ride. I am not disappointed and is a wonderful car and is still a boy racer muncher.
I was pleased to have a premium plus with performance exhaust, which sounds awesome, and sounds more superior than the AMG A45. The 21 inch rims makes the car look awesome and would highly recommend the premium plus package, it is worth every penny thanks,

Christopher Lembra lmao this is a historic Mercedes grill. They copied it from their own past because they came up with it bythemselves 70 years ago and definitely not from bmw. Its a piece of their heritage and history

Thanks for your video the 2022s AMG’s are still on back order. I see some people are commenting that they prefer the GLC 53 AMG over the GLC43 AMG but once you consider the price it’s comparison is similar
You nailed the front end by stating it looks "softer" and those eyelash head-lights don't help muscle-it up much either. Pop's n bangs are bonkers for sure and regarding body-roll/understeer throw a lowering module on it ($500 bucks) and the car is transformed and more toss-able . Car is perfectly balanced for daily and some fun. 63 was simply too much car for our application. Don't regret my 18 SUV purchase at all.

I've also got the 2019 c43 coupe and I think that it doesn't feature emotion start unfortunately. Every time i try to do it like he explained, I just get a normal start. I always start it in sport plus when i want to hear that start.

Arsenije Asanovic I know it’s been a while but I just tried the emotion start on my car and it definitely seems to work and adds a few pops to the exhaust sound when a paddle is held down, it’s weird though because the manual says it doesn’t have emotion start 🤦🏻♂️😂

12:14: According to the MB Canada website, the standard AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive (2021 GLC 43) has 31:69 front/rear torque split.
The GLC 63 AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive:
"A specially engineered version of 4MATIC can instantly vary the torque distribution from 100% rear-wheel drive to a degree of all-wheel drive that's precisely matched to the driving conditions and driver inputs. An electromechanical coupling between the front and rear axles is controlled based on an elaborate matrix of driving mode, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, and available grip to optimize handling and acceleration right up to the physical limits, on virtually any road or track surface."
This doesn’t sound as bad as I thought it would. The cracks are definitely louder more gunshot esque

How is it that this guy still hasnt a million subs?
Happy with the same grill on all AMGs but can't live with side running boards, they look OKish but are a pain when dirty or wet when you are getting out. Some sort of lower skirting possibly could be an option / alternative. Anyone know why Mercedes didn't put the full width dash screen for the MBUX like the GLE latest?
Sounds good but X3 M40i sounds good too with more pops and bangs but less fart on shifts.
I thought AMG said that the 23 additional HPs come from larger turbos and not software upgrades.

I wish you drove the cars on normal roads as well as dual carriage ways as well asssssssss country roads, we don't all have a track or a road like you do to go on, and I think most people would appriciate a review of an everyday life with these cars more than anything, I certainly will as I'm looking at buying this car, but a review of cars on normal roads will be much better in my opinion.

Can you do how many voice commands can the car perform? Most video I've seen in CZcams are just asking where to go... I wanted to know if voice command can do anything else apart from asking where to go... Example: can it turn on aircon, increase air, turn on lights etc

I wish Mercedes would’ve put this engine but tuned of course in the new upcoming C63 instead of a 2.0 4 cylinder, from a damn V8 to 2.0. Madness.

i think wen can alla agree that whether we talk about c coupe sedan or glc, they all belong to the same c-product family from mercedes. But apparently the refresh on the glc was more significant than the c coupe sedan an convertible specially in terms of the amg products. To further explain, these are the things the c43 or 63 doesnt have compared to glc equivalent
1. airsuspension (which is funny cause the regular c class does)
2. mbux
3. The high end designo leather pack option which funny enough the regular c class does
4. panamericana grill with the more aggresive frond end.
5. amg steering wheel controls
6. the new headlight though thats better
The question is..if someone wants a c43 and wants the aforementioned stuff could he ask to have them intalled in his car as a special order, or are there any providers that do such stuff

Whats up with Mercedes and Harman Kardon? When I ordered my AMG I saw that the Harman Kardon option was still in there, even though I ordered the Premium Plus Pack which comes with the upgraded Burmeister sound system. After asking my local Mercedes dealer they said that Mercedes and Harman Kardon had an issue with each other regarding speaker warranty.

Why does the A45 s which is an "older" car sound worse than this one? I mean, why the A45 is affected by the EU noise regulation and this one isn´t?
How loud a car can be is depending on its power and the displacement. So i'm guessing since the 43 has more displacement it is allowed to be a bit louder.
Which one is more fun to drive this glc 43 or c 43?
I traded in my C43 for my GLC43. The C is better (as you might expect) in corners, but the ride quality for every day driving is significantly better on the GLC. The GLC I received has Dunlop’s, which could be part of the difference. I traded for more space.
