    lol I'd always raised my kids that we help people if they're in trouble and we're able, but 1 day it was 95, humid and 'helping' was going to be hand-pushing a '57 Ford so here I was trying to 'not notice' someone needing help and my 15-year-old leans forward from the back seat and says, "Well, Dad, are we going to help?" with a little challenge in his voice. Yep, we pulled over and did the right thing though I needed a nudge from my son.😉Raised him right.

  • @mudfly12
    @mudfly12 Před 2 lety +11

    I believe you were just saying that you needed a dozer with a big winch. That would have been handy for this situation. Double line with a snatch block and anchor your hoe to the front of it. I once saw a D8 pull itself backwards being dug in and anchored with a cat 349 hoe. Eventually snapped a 1 1/4” cable. They went to get a second D8 while they fixed the cable.

    Good job there. Mats look like a necessity for that area.
    It looks like you have about 6 feet of good top-soil there. Kinda reminded me of getting stuck in the peat bottoms around here.
    Just a half mile south of my house, there is a 'high boy' New Holland sprayer buried to the top of one rear tire. It's been stuck there since back in August, when the operator slide off the dirt path across a big ditch. There is a good sized excavator chained up, trying to keep it from sinking any deeper.

    • @dirtgrainsteel
      @dirtgrainsteel  Před rokem

      We have alot of muck and peat moss in our area this farm is notorious for swallowing equipment there are actually a few things lost out there that the old timers never could get out I've worked here alot my solution is no excavator larger than 40,000lbs and your fine....I've had to retrieve alot of them sprayers lol

    You've really gotta watch out on those, its all to easy to kajigger your hootenanny, next thing you know, you're chooching your stovepipe and your gazoontite gets frazzled. Now i know what you're thinking, you're thinking 'but who gives a hoot about a frazzled gazoontite when your stovepipe is chooching' and ordinarily you'd be right. but if you become one with the dirt and think the way that dirt thinks you'll understand that it's better to chooch a kajigger now than it is to stovepipe a whistler later. Otherwise you wind up hip deep in the rhubarb every time.
