Don't know the rates in the us, but a 1st gen BMW Z4 3.0i is not bad, basically a poor man's boxter or s2000 but has torque
how the tables have turned where the bmw z4 is the poor man's s2000
I would like if you guys rated each other’s cars or at least talked about the cars you’ve owned in the past
I would really like to hear that too!
Something to mention these are the cars that are excluded from SCCA street category the cheapest category (ex: DS)
• Dodge Caliber (non-SRT)
• Fiat 500 (non-Abarth) (2012-19)
• Ford Fiesta (non-ST) (2011-19)
• Geo Tracker
• Jeep CJ series
• MINI Countryman (NOC)
• Nissan Juke
• Scion iQ
• Scion xB (2004-06)
• Subaru Forester
• Suzuki Samurai
• Suzuki Sidekick
99" SH Prelude hugs curve so nicely, miss that heavy ass car.
Getting a c6 under 15k is rare, but i'm waiting for this gambler to sell his high mileage c6 manual ls3 for $12k
I have an 3 door (european) mk7 fiesta ST. Pretty sure it wouldn't last long in stock form on track. But brake pads, lines, fluid and a bigger radiator are probably enough to solve this problem.
I wish I could have bought a corvette to track/mostly daily however I live in Wisconsin and it would have just been a mid choice to daily cause gas and the salt and snow wouldn't mix too well
B13 SE-R gets a mention!!!!
Older American V8 cars (even the v6 models) are great track platforms and can go head to head with turbo 4s like WRXs or Ralliarts. They would be great for larger faster tracks and have great support in N. America.
Hatchbacks: GTi's/Ford ST's/Mini Coopers&Fiat 500s (if you can deal with the maint), not a hatch but 8g/9g Civic Si shoutout
Regular gas training first track cars you won't feel bad putting into a wall: b18b Integras/base Civics/Neons/Honda Fits/base Golf/base Fiesta/Focus
My dumbass: AW11, just make sure you have friends with spare parts and don't buy too much of a pile, the MR 4age serves as a great learning platform, not as quick as a miata though
I saw like a mid 80s trans am with a V6 and manual transmission at a autocross a couple months ago bone stock but looked pretty fun
@@miatalife94 If you can find an friend in the community who has lots of spare panels and parts for any 80s model, the skys the limit. Foe my AW11, I needed a fuel level sensor and apart from a local collector who had a spare, I couldn't get that part from any dealer at all.
Its always great to see older cars having fun on lapping days and autocross runs, usually not competitive but the unique blend they bring is great.
I have driven mid engine (not MR2) and I think it's pretty hard for a beginner. Not a lot of room for mistakes.
Also saw the guys from Best Motoring spinning the MR2 on the touge.
picked up a 08 Cayman 5 speed 110k miles for 13.5k, I think it will end up being more of a classic than a boxer, and just a nicer car all around.
How long ago did you get it? I’ve wanted an S but my budget says base 5 speed. Is that the 2.7 or 2.9?
@@lastname-Nm I bought it about 6 months ago, it's the 2.7l. I really enjoy the car
@@huntermcentire so excited for mine
4th gen firebird would be on my list, get one for 3-5k, get the IRS swap for 6, then you have a RWD car with IRS all the way around and are under or around 10k
I figure you could have fun with it before the IRS as well, effectively stetch out that 6-10k total over a period of a year or 2 just enjoying the car and really feel and understand how it handles differently between each modification/addition.
At that point just get a 04 Pontiac GTO
I found a c4 zr1 for 12k with 85,000 miles. But it needed a little bit of work lol
I love collector car feed.
Man I remember paying 4200 for my 05 Legacy GT Wagon..... Now people want 8-9k for one. God I hate the market. NGL almost every MR2/MRS owner i have ran across has been very weird. Dig the cars but man the owners can be weird.
Renualt Clio 182,lupo gti ,Peugeot 205 gti or a clapped dc5,Astra vxr all relatively cheap but can be absolute rockets around any track
@@Xyskz Ik but u can still brilliant track cars
@@Xyskz true America would be a better place with these little hot hatches
Gotta love the sick uploads
3g supra or even celica supra would make a sick older track car
Celica supras shot up here in Canada, panels would be hard to source but I'm been having a blast taking a similar era mk1 Mr2 to lapping sessions. Always nice to have friends with spare parts in their sheds.
I would like to see this topic repeated every so often, and raise the cap to $20K.
Enjoy the weekend guys!
Fiesta ST squad bro!!!!
mr2, miata nc
I’ve driven a blowoff valved out 500 Abarth and it made noises not sure I’d call them cool lol
1:22 sure can 😁
Do a sc300/400 vid
Hell yes to the something Dsm
LS T/A
What? You can get a legacy GT for $5k
