Well shit, I guess I misunderstood something at some point in the show.
I thought that combining all the prism shards together is what would bring the original world back from the dead since these alternate worlds are just the shards of the original world. Piecing the shards together meant piecing the alternate worlds together; combining all the shards would bring back the original world, but at the price of all the shatter worlds cause once the shards are fused together, the alternate worlds will be fused together and cease to be. Sonic’s world would be back, but all the shatter worlds would be gone. I thought the reason Nine was so mad at Sonic’s plan to combine the shards together was because Nine realized that if Sonic brought back the original Tails, Nine (and all the other Tailses) would cease to exist. And that’s why Nine kept insisting that he is real, he’s a real living person and he doesn’t want to be erased. I thought that Nine wanted to create a new world and stop Sonic from bringing back the old world because bringing back the old world means getting erased. It looked like Sonic would be caught in a moral dilemma where he would have to make a hard decision: should he let his home world and everyone he knew and loved stay deceased so that the shatter worlds and all their peoples can continue to exist, or should he play god and resurrect his home world, but at the price of erasing all the shatter worlds and everyone in them?
But I guess that’s not what was going on. Guess it was stupid thinking this show would have the balls to seriously challenge its protagonist and have a ending that isn’t a perfect happily ever after.

Dude, this is crazy, I had the exact same thought when the show began! It seemed like the most logical way to explain the whole Shatterspace and Paradox Prism situation. I compared it to the way they figured out how to beat the robots in the Grim -- but in this case, bring back the "Alphas" (in this case, the original crew like Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Rougue) -- erase the variants (Nine, Rebel, Knucks, etc.) and basically make them cease to exist. I was hoping for that to happen because I wished for the show to redeem itself because I wasn't really into it at first.
There's also the matter of Nine himself. He was such a compelling character at first for me. The idea of a Tails who was never saved by Sonic and was instead tormented for years only to develop issues when it comes to trusting others and having to fend for himself sounded like such a good idea! But I could tell it was going to go to waste when they made him a twist villain, because as you said, god forbid a kids show has the balls to give the heroes a challenge and have a compelling story that shows that not every tale will end in a happy ending.

I think the problem with the finale is that they dragged it. Literally the last four episodes feel like the same, with Sonic fighting Nine, and everyone fighting robots over and over again. It just felt like a long loop. I also feel like more could've been done with the shatterverse, maybe have Sonic go to a familiar universe, from Sonic X or an old Sonic game?

Super dissappointed they didn't bring the chaos emeralds in for the final battle. Like, we saw Shadow drop the green one at the beginning, so I thought they were setting up that the other emeralds were still around and were eventually going to be collected. Instead, they just... never go back for it? And they barely mention it like maybe 3 times after that? Shadow had one but lost it pretty much immediately after ending up in the shatterverse, and he never attempts to get it again. He brought it up in passing in season 3 and I was HOPING it would maybe lead to him Investigating the void to find it, and also maybe that the other eneralds survived the shattering since, well, they're literally chaos emeralds, and that they would be used to properly reform Green Hill, but nope. I have rewatched S1's Ep1 a lot because I really like how the show started, I had really high expectations on S3's battle scenes especially now that Nine has the entire Paradox Prism rebuilt that he may use it for more scarier and fearful powers and might even do some "reality-bending" things. Even expected Sonic to wield the powers of the Prism (unlike the usual Chaos Emeralds) and defeat Nine with it and have a better ending than this.

While it is not a masterpiece I do think season 3 was perfectly fine as a conclusion. There were absolutely flaws but overall I think the plot wrapped up satisfyingly enough, and I realize now that despite its flaws I ended up caring about the fate of most of the characters. (Just not the Eggmen personally) And I think a lot of the voice acting was very very well done. Shadow, rouge, and tails sounded wonderful to me. Now that the show might be over I'm glad it happened and think it was done well, but still shouldn't remain canon. I see all the time people criticizing Sonic's characterization and while I agree that Sonic is far from perfect writing wise - being kinda dumb, unfunny, and overall just not like his game counterpart - I think some of it boils down to giving sonic a character arc which often doesn't happen in the games. And that works in the games because its what makes Sonic so great because his character helps, supports, and works through others fears and problems, notably Chip in Unleashed, Merlina in Black Knight, or Tais in Frontiers. Sonic in the games rarely ever has any internal struggles which works for the games. But for a Tv show it becomes a lot more interesting and works better to give Sonic an arc which Sonic fans aren't very use to and I think it makes the show a lot more interesting to watch and ultimately satisfying to watch its conclusion in season 3. So yeah, that's just my take I think it is fine and reasonable to very much dislike it XD. I'm glad it was made.

Nine genuinely worked for a bit as a morally grey villain, the way he ripped sonic's front with the "you're just doing this because it's the only way you can live with yourself" was actually so good and it was understandable that he didn't wanna just be reduced to nothing because sonic just wanted to fix his wrongs and ignore the countless lives he created with them

I actually quite enjoyed the show despite being an older fan. Of course, it has its issues, but I still had fun watching it. I was afraid of what they would do in Season 3 because I didn't think they needed seven episodes to finish the plot. My fears were proven right, sadly. I don't actually mind filler as long as it's enjoyable, and I think I would get bored of the fight scenes if I gave the show a rewatch. Even then, though, I can still acknowledge that filler is filler and that it doesn't need to be there.

I like the show but this season is not for me

Great video you made dude. I agree on many points like the streched final fight ,the screen time was given to inferior marketable variants of the sonic cast instead of shadow and the cliffhanger was annoying. I really like the fact that the ending defeating eggman with his friends showed how much sonic developed and made the show feel meaningful. I like sonic prime but it could be shortened. Instead of Sonic collecting the shards in season 2 they could done it in season 1 the episodes would have sonic meeting other varients of sonic's world while collecting these damn shards and the final season could been 4 to 5 the maximum

Sonic Prime as a whole is just not good. Sonic fans are blinded by their love of Sonic and the general lack of good Sonic media before 2020, that's why they're so bias in favor of this series. To be clear, I don't think Sonic Prime is offensively bad, it's just very "meh".

  • @derekmundo6084
    @derekmundo6084 Před 4 měsíci +4

I respect that you don't like Sonic Prime and you have your reasons.
I personally like Sonic Prime, but the finale felt very boring, and I have my reasons:
    1. Sonic has to solve his problems with Nine with the power of Love (something like: Nine don't be the bad guy, this isn't you) and that was very boring, because it reminds me of Steven Universe, and that show was boring as f*ck
    2. It feels repetitive and sometimes the characters are (a bit) annoying (with some exceptions)
    3. Until episode 3 we know that we only get to see the characters fighting with Robots over and over again like it was an endless war, with less dialogues, less interactions, etc.
    4. Tiny animation errors.
    And
    5. The Writing in the later episodes felt completely off.
It was great in the other two seasons (in my perspective) but it looks like everything went downhill.
Having repetitive episodes, annoying characters, you get the deal.
So that's the bad stuff from the season.
    And now the good stuff:
    1. Shadow is still a very great character, having great moments in the series and actually doing great stuff
    2. The animation is still smoother and solid, still having the squash and stretch thingy, and it still has great action scenes (sometimes).
    And
    3. That one reference to Sonic Advance.
    It was nice from me
Overall, I can see the horrible downfall from Sonic Prime, Season 1 and Season 2 are great, but season 3 was the opposite of the other two seasons.
Bad Writing? Annoying Characters? repetitive episodes? They wasted too much potential for that finale.
I will have a rating from every season of the series (at least for me):
    Season 1: 7/10
    Season 2: 8/10
    Season 3: 4/10
It's fine if you like season 3, because it's your opinion and you have your reasons

In my opinion I enjoy it and Sonic Prime Season 3 has a few problems and the one problem is that Shadow didn’t get as much screen time but I enjoy it and I really don’t like how episode 4,5,6 are just episode were they just fight and it can get a little boring at times. My favorite part in episode 7 and that’s the last episode, and my favorite part was when Shadow was holding Sonic and running to the Green Hill portal. Another big problem is that the ending made no sense and Season 4 is not happening at all. Great video SF Productions)

Some might debate the continued existence of the Shatterverse after the restoration of the Prism, but one things confirmed for certain at least; Sonic remembers the events. And with Shadow escaping with the prism, who knows; there MIGHT be potential for Sonic to get tails to safely tap into it and reopen portals to shatterverses... if they still exist. Which id wager they would, due to the shatterverses remaining stable after Nine fixed it. It was just Sonic that was in trouble, because his energy was a critical ingredient. But regardless, even if the shatterverses still exist, whether or not Prime's events transpired or were undone in the other Shatterverses after the Restoration remains up in the air, since maybe everyone else forgot and ONLY sonic (and MAYBE shadow, idk) remembers things.
But yeah, either way, doubt this narrative is gonna get an extension in any other media platform. Might be interesting to get a game adaptation (with hopefully a narrative upgrade), but thats a pipe dream.

I feel like something that really hurt season 3 besides Shadow's gaping void of a presence was definitely just the static location. At least in previous seasons Sonic was consistently bouncing around from shatterspace to shatterspace keeping things fairly fresh, but the show didn't get that advantage in season 3
Honestly something that would've been cool would be to kinda mess around with the idea of crumbling shatterspaces that was only briefly touched on at the start
We revisit old areas except they're all decaying and the layout is warp or something to that effect
Have the battle in multiple locations, have some kind of macguffin to find, I don't know
The most frustrating part to me was that Sonic had the ability to just run to the top of the tower the entire time to stop Nine and didn't for the sake of "You have to stay with the team, Sonic!"
Which sure, that's a fine lesson to have in a show targeted towards a younger audience, but I think making it much more of a risk to actually charge ahead would've been better rather than leaving it overly vague as a "bad idea" when he ended up just doing it anyways later on
I really enjoyed Sonic Prime at first and season 3 definitely had some great moments too, but it's a shame that it ended up coming to such a lackluster conclusion. The animation was still super good at least

I was mostly mixed on the first season because I liked the concept of Sonic travelling to different dimensions and meeting different versions of his friends, but wasn't a fan of its dramatic tone. I was hoping to see more new dimensions in the second season, but it just gave me more of the same. Other issues I have with Prime is that its incarnation of Sonic is clumsier and more prone to making mistakes he's unable to fix, a huge step down from his video game counterpart (it also doesn't help that his friends constantly berate him for it). Finally, Prime is another victim of the Sonic cartoons' curse, in which the season finales tease new seasons rather than try to end on a proper resolution. Every Sonic cartoon I've seen unfortunately suffers from that curse. Maybe someday I'll work up the courage to see Prime's third season, but it's probably not something I'd want to go back to after seeing it.

I think that's why Netflix is becoming an annoying company to cancelling series to
save money like WB and Disney and it's becoming a much annoyance to me RIGHT THIS MINUTE!
If I were making another Sonic cartoon series, I'm gonna put all the elements into one big thing.
From Satam, Adventures of STH, Underground, Sonic X, Prime and the comic books into
one incredible series. That way, all Sonic fans including myself will adoring the entire series back from
    the original roots.

I personally really enjoyed the show, but I have had some issues with it like how the Chaos Council sucks and yeah, that ending was weird, like why have the timeline reset, if they were going to do that then show us the Shatterverses are still out there so it doesn’t seem like everything didn’t matter and it is just me or was Shadow’s final scene a weird one to call that, he just Chaos Control’s the Paradox Prism away and that’s it, no reunion with Sonic and the others or anything he’s just gone, and why didn’t he have a single interaction with the normal Rouge, even with the other versions of her, he only had like one with Rebel Rouge like huh? Also is it me or in Episode 2 I think and maybe 3 did it feel like Nine was just saying the exact same thing every single time “There’s no point in fighting me Sonic, give up and give me your Prism energy” like we get it dude, we heard you the last 50 times in this one episode

I agree 100% It started off good, but season 3 was just deluded prime sonic playing with nine's feelings. He was all "I need to save tails" instead of "I need to stop nine". Even after he saw sails and mangley "die". which hyped me up for a moment because I thought he was actually going to get serious and take nine down which would make at least ONE interesting scene, but nope, he still played favorites and tried to reason. And it was annoying asf. Sonic was the villain imo.

Yea the world did reset but it wasn’t like in Sonic 06 where it literally never happened. Something did happen cause Sonic and Shadow remembered everything that happened hence why Shadow yeeted himself and the paradox prism away with Chaos Control

the story started getting on my nerves but I love the characters (probably because I love the originals) and all the different variations working together was really cool.

Maybe email the editors or whoever and tell them yourselves. Like the movie they will listen to what u have to say and they will make season 4. Or tell them why. Or what you want them to make.

I completely agree with the 3 episodes long fight. After round 2 or 3 I was like: Oh here we go again. I also started to wonder where Shadow was, like is he dead or something? Not that I believed that but I found it strange that he was still stuck in there. I mean he did say that the army kept him down there but still... It is Shadow we are talking about?
But that aside. I don't think that everything was just a complete reset at the end. Yes their world did go back to that moment. But I think it continues where it was left off... aka right before it went all go wrong. The very end of the show also showed how this can be true. The council came into their world in the last 40 seconds of the final episode. At least that is what I assume from the sentence Sonic said: "You gotta be kidding me". The council didn't knew about the other worlds before Sonic came into theirs as we saw in season 1 episode 6 in the first 5 minutes. Therefore if it indeed was the council, it can't be reset. The council only figured out about these other worlds due to Sonic. And I think it continues where it was left off as it stopped existing after that. So nothing could be happening in between.
At least... that is my theory 😁

Skipped over the character arcs with the Amy trio, Dread, Mangy and Sails, and the actual thing that caused Nine to change his mind. Everyone got some love. Even random New Yoke citizens got a chance to shine. Plus the Grim power that Sonic got. I don't know how you could miss that.

I am the only one mad that the whole concept of the shardverse was not explained?
I mean it obviously isn't the multiverse because, you know... no Blaze and Eggman Nega or anything like it.
I was pretty convinced that was the og verse shattered into all this verses, that us why Sonic Prime is the name, but Green Hill having it on portal confused me.
    Anyone has their own theory?

Eh I like it. I like the Chaos Council's dynamic with each other, I like how the Paradox Prism works, I think Nine is a fascinating character for the series, I like some of the alternatives universe side characters (some- anyone who isnt Rebel, Renegade, Dread, Thorn, or Robot Amy i forgot the name of can die and I wouldnt care.) I like the characterization of both Sonic and Shadow and their dynamic is great, and I think the ending was a passable finale, especially since Sonic remembers his adventure in the shatterspace and learns from his initial mistake, I also laughed when he ran up to hug Eggman. I like to think of this series as its own thing because it only works in a vacuum, and as a stand alone story for me its pretty strong
