    I bought the ms271 new about 4 years ago, i used it hard for the first 6 months, and have used it many times since. Only starting issue i ever had was caused by fuel that wasnt very fresh, and the same fuel caused issues with other saws i own. So no issues with the saw itself. Im planning on getting a new stihl bar and😅 chain, same specs. 20" bar with the .325 chain setup is a perfect match for this 50cc saw. Cheers, Chris

      @@Tyler-ut6st yes, when I very first bought it I had trouble with it starting and idling correctly and the dealership wouldn't honor their warranty either. I returned it 4x's just for them to tell me nothing was wrong with it and the last time they wanted to charge me a shop charge and I hadn't even used it yet. I ended up taking it to another dealership and they finally got it running correctly and covered it under the warranty. It cut good and everything after that but I ended up selling it and buying a Echo CS590 Timberwolf and I love it. I sent it to Iowa Performance Saw's and had a muffler mod and retune and it's a beast. It only cost $400 brand new and came with a 5yr warranty. It's a way better built saw and it's way stronger than the 271. It has the magnesium casing instead of the plastic, adjustable oiler, electronic ignition switch, decompression button and 3/8 chain.

    Everyone seems to run the chain too tight for me, it tightens up under throttle even more, causes saw to bog too much, although I know too loose and it'll keep jumping off the bar, I don't have any trouble with that but I don't like to hear that chain grinding sound when it's just running, rev it up about four times or so and I bet the bar is already hot... could be just me

    My 271 seems like it's not oiling good. Shouldn't it spray a little oil on the chain cover when ribbing it up? What bar oil you suggest to use in these colder Temps btw? I'm using the Stihl brand in the orange jug but seems thick for this colder weather

    • @Carlsmower
      @Carlsmower  Před 2 lety

      Remove the bar and chain and see if the oil is coming out of the oil port which is right by the sprocket you’ll see the slot. Stihl does have a winter grade bar oil that is lighter weight but let’s start with checking to make sure the oiler itself is functioning

    • @testedapproved841

    • @Carlsmower
      @Carlsmower  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey do you have a winter grade or oil that may be a wise thing to use when the temperature is it 32° or less.
      There’s not really a proper test way really comes down to kind of knowing what your normal flow is mini how much is left in the tank full tank of gas. I would maybe make sure that your oil passed ways are clear and then either pick up some winter grade bar oil or if that is not an option in your area add a little bit of 30 weight oil to your gallon of bar oil. You wanna be careful with that but you want to sit it out just a little bit lower the viscosity. I hope this helps you out.
