    I always carry my blade in my teeth just like a pirate that way my hands are free for pillaging

  • @cameronchicken8439
    @cameronchicken8439 Před 4 lety +26

    I have several fixed blades and I carry the differently. I like that “static cord’ method a lot and nobody ever brings it up... probably the most versatile way to carry a fixed blade is to tie the sheath to a piece of string that you can adjust the length and tie it to a belt loop. As you deploy the knife the sheath is stopped by the string for one handed deployment and the sheath is left tethered where it’s easy to get to as you return the blade. But this also allows you to comfortably carry small fixed blades in your pocket or inside your waist fairly comfortably. Another cool way to carry Bowie knives is to just tuck the sheath inside your waist to where the tip it just below your right back pocket... sounds crazy but it’s a lot mor comfortably than having it outside the the waist and you can get to it pretty fast and the sheath without a static cord is just fine. I haven’t seen anyone rock a shoulder holster style sheath. That could be cool.

    • @cameronchicken8439
      @cameronchicken8439 Před 4 lety +3

      Another advantage to a static cord is that when I’m sitting in a car I often set my knife in sheath on my lap where it is incredibly easy to get to and it’s tied to me so It won’t swim around and I still get one handed open. That guy in the Salmon shirt should consider that his knife is also a shield and when you choose the reverse grip you lose all of your reach and with that being his non dominant hand he’s likely to lose that knife in a fight. Just like I would set down my pistol to pick up my rifle I think a knife comes first. It is faster to draw than a firearm and more effective within 10ft than a firearm. If they are further than 10ft then you have time to draw your pistol. I would say it takes me two or three seconds to draw my pistol and aim. And less than a second to draw my knife... one or two extra seconds within ten feet would be a game changer. And you can get a knife anywhere and take it anywhere and discard it if you need to.

    As a girl 😆. When camping I use a neck sheath. But every day I sewed a easy access into the inside of my purse. A little wide elastic and a bit of Velcro. On my get home/ EDC bag it’s strapped and fixed next to my outside water bottle pouch.

    I carry mine on my left side similar to the first gentleman but with the handle going the opposite direction so that it draws ready to use. Without switching hands or it being backwards. In a defensive situation, if I drew that knife it is because I cannot reach my gun for some reason. This means that more than likely my right hand is inoperable or tied up doing something else to keep me alive.

  • @thegodfarter420

    I recently bought the Mora & Light my fire knife and someone on a forum suggested that you put the knife on your backside of your belt and the sheat in your backpocket. I never thought of that, but it is super stealthy under your clothes, quick and comfortable even (when sitting).

  • @OtherThanIntendedPurpose
    @OtherThanIntendedPurpose Před 5 lety +1

    my daily carry is a small necker, ( Folts Minimalist) because if I need it, it is fast and easy to get. when I am in the woods, I carry a 4-6" belt knife, and I carry it just forward of center on my right hip. where I lie, it is legal to carry any length of fixed blade, as long as it is not concealed. so I make sure when I have one on my belt to have it where it can be seen.

    I edc either a TOPS Brakimo, or Prather War Bowie. If I have no jacket, or if my shirt is tucked in, I’ll carry it iwb straight up on the right side, edge forward (the bowie in a Panther Concealment Sheath).

      Man that is tough! Unfortunately that is the case with too many young men like yourself. My recommendation would be to seek out competent, strong, kind and tough as nails men in your community and learn as much as you can from them. Be humble, grateful and willing to learn and that will go a long way. As far as how to use a knife, nothing beats hands on instruction and practice. Hope this helps!

    • @floridamanprepper4723
      @floridamanprepper4723 Před 4 lety

      Haha I grew up in Florida. Just carry what you want to carry. Everyone in Florida is crazy anyway. At least everyone else already thinks that.
      And yes... Under a shirt would be considered concealed. That goes for anywhere. Because it is. If you cant see it it is literally conceal. Even if you just have your shirt over Tim the only way this is an issue is with larger knives. It's easy to think that because its sticking halfway out from under your shirt, it's not concealed. But it is. In which case you need a permit. This is why a lot of eastern US states allow for larger knife carry without a permit. But you have to make sure it is totally out in the open. Then you have to be concerned about idiot cops who don't know their local laws well enough nor the differences between types of knives. So know you local laws, which is very difficult(unclear) with knives, and carry at your own discretion.
