- Honda HRC's team manager, Lars Lindstrom, was on hand at Hangtown to discuss Jett Lawrence's turbulent day and condition, as round three of 2024 Pro Motocross beckons. Lindstrom is always candid and open when talking about his riders and this, thankfully, is no different.

I love seeing all these people who don’t even own a dirtbike talk about how much they know about these guys and how much more full of knowledge they are than the pros themselves
I cosign this take, It's insane
mostly deegan fangirls ,who just started watching this year 🤦♂
Yep
People think when they’ve been watching motocross and super cross for years think they know how a bike works as well. When they’ve never rode before it’s insane
Its Web3 😂 get use to it
Lars talks really well. Always gives great feedback in Vital interviews 👍🏻
The gifted riders make it look so easy most of the time, then we are reminded how brutal this sport really is...
Glad jett is alright .I am a big fan of him and Hunter but have to say sextons ride was unreal .
Most sane Jett fan:
@@tbmdd jett haters can't catch a break lmao
Agreed, Sexton's ride was one for the ages, so much fun to watch.
4 absolutely destroyed the field!
Being Aussie Im obviously a Lawrence fan. Jett unfortunately made a bad judgement call and it cost him. Thats racing and proves evem the best come undone now and again.
Chase rode unbelievably and deserves all the praise. I am looking forward to seeing if Chase can run with a healthy Jett and beat him straight up?
Good for us fans and now hopefully the whiners who were complaining about the season being boring will shut up and enjoy the sport.
Hoping Jett comes good for the next round and Hunter can keep building.
Honda need to get that bike working better it has looked pretty uncomfortable the first 2 rounds.
I agree with all of that. I love seeing Hunter up in the fight as well. So glad to see him doing well in outdoor. He didn't do particularly well in SX on 450, takes time to adapt. Hunter should be a formidable force next year in SX. Hoping Jett heals up quickly and gets back to prime form. Chase rode fantastic. I have said in the past, Chase is the fastest guy on 2 wheels, but he is also very prone to mistakes. I think Jett made an awful mistake trying to triple that on the first lap. Not a smart move in my view, but he will learn from it. Jett is an extremely fast learner and rarely ever makes the same mistake twice. Going to be a fantastic MX season for sure! .. Hey, and people need to give a hat tip to Aaron Plessinger too! .. Aaron rode a fantastic race as well.
Jett reminds me of tomac several years ago. Tomac was head and shoulders above the competition. The thunder valley happend, crash that ended tomac season.
Jett is young and will heal quickly
He finished the 2nd moto in 6th after getting his ass kicked by his bike and the track less than 2 hours earlier. Only 7 seconds behind JA21 in 5th, I'd rather see Chase win this title
but Jett's gutsy ride in moto 2 was beyond heroic.
Jett wishing you a quick recovery, feel better!
Dam that was a hard hit . Glad he wasn’t hurt worse . RC got bit pretty good by a footpeg years ago , he said it hurt bigtime .
Any update on Phil ‘s injury / crash ?
I am a Jett and Hunter fan but in not sure he could have beaton Sexton on that day. Sexton was at another level.
I think had sexton went down and Jett been out front, he would’ve only came back to 2nd. However, that’s not how it worked out and we saw an amazing ride from a dude who thoroughly deserves it. Being called by the last guy to put in that kinda ride over 20 years ago. It was the culmination of like 4 different storylines into an amazing climax that we’ll likely never see in modern moto again. I hope chase keeps this momentum and we get some great head to head battles this year. Instead of seeing the young phenom just dominate the field. Just my opinion.
@@tjtruth4793 I don't think JS7's worst to first even compares. He did that on a 125 and that class wasn't absolutely stacked with veteran, championship talent like this season. It's unbelievable.
@@re-dacted. I could take you serious if you have an actual argument but “doesn’t even compare” isn’t serious at all. Firstly, just the fact that it’s a motocross last to first performance makes it comparable by default. Secondly, the top championship prospect had just crashed and was clearly well below 100% (not taking anything away from sexton besides what I said in my first comment), the other top championship hopefuls are out (tomac and webb). Yes there’s veterans in the class but there were veterans in JS7’s budds creek ride also. Being a veteran in and of itself doesn’t make the point all that much stronger. Being a veteran in your prime, ok, but most of the vets in the class rn are past their prime or moving out of it. The parity between talented riders has def decreased and the average skill of everyone is higher in general though. Lastly, it was unbelievable, which was about the only serious point that you made, and I agree with it.
Sexton would've never had beaten Jett. That's the thing about Chase, he's ALWAYS had this speed, usually it's just that Jett is 20 seconds up the track in front of AP..
@@tjtruth4793 I ain't reading all that.
It's disingenuous to compare the caliber of the "veterans" who showed up on the gate in the lites class in 2003 to the premier class roster in 2024.
Chase is the points leader, but.. He seems to have history of going down. I still bet on Jettson winning the championship !
I don't blame ya, It's hard to bet against Jett at all
So a couple of riders had the skill to do a section other riders couldn’t so they changed the track so they can no longer do it. How do you determine which riders are going to be disadvantaged by post qualification track changes each week.
Mad respect for these guys the speed they go and the shit they do on a dirt bike with very little protection!!!
They need to stop changing the track during the race!
Darn straight
Ya but he did a turtle pace sight lap before that! This is on Jett!
They changed the track BEFORE the race. 😉
Jett crashes, lets change the section, anyone else did the same thing nothing would have changed. Let’s show our biases 😂
It’s a big learner for the guy. He will be thinking twice and perfecting even further
Thank you very much!
Best Interviewer in the sport 👍
Jett is incredibly tough for even getting up and keep riding after that crash. It takes big balls to do it.
100%, huge props.
This is a positive thing for Jett. Get this out of the way early in the season in order to reset focus and motivation. A good reality check
Between this and deano a year ago in SX, I will never run sharp footpegs. Boot deterioration aside, the advantages do not outweigh the risks
Have you seen deanos foot peg accident at Glen Helen on 250s? That was horrible too.
Yeah Deano has had some horrible open wounds from pegs. His SX one was bad but the glen Helen was nasty too as Nathan said. Scary haha
why did Jett run hand guards? do they help prevent first turn/ inadvertent front brake cashes? did anyone else?
#22 Kawasaki
Congrats to Hunter!!!
jett has it (easy talent); hunter is... well...a hunter, I like hunter
That kind of injury just straight-up HURTS. It's gonna be annoying for a long time for him I'm afraid. I had a similar thing happen when I was a kid with a handlebar and I've STILL got a knot of scar tissue on my inner left thigh under the skin.
This is the first time I thought the bike didn’t look good, to either brother
I didnt notice the death headahake they had last week. Honda was bragn Jet and Hunter rode, tested , and helped develop the bike so wth happened with it whoooo knows.
I agree, could be simply that the track was GNARLY though, but yeah they just looked unstable compared to usual.
The bike did look a little chattery though did it not?
I don't hate Jett anymore after witnessing his absolute grit out on the track. Tough is cool and he has it in spades. Chase is going to blow them all off the track, the Jett fanboys are going to melt!
1:12 since that crash took out a nice chunk out, I'm assuming got stitches or stables?
Was wondering the same. Chunk makes me assume it required him to stitch/glue it up before moto 2.
@@brock6516in another lars interview said no stitches for second moto so probably glue.
@@rodneyneeson1335 maybe. But, sometimes with a "chunk" of skin there's nothing to glue back together. Basically a liquid type skin to keep it semi sealed.
@@rodneyneeson1335 Yes, or those fancy stitch/bandages, they stick real hard on each side of the wound then layer each flap together, idk what they're called but you've probably seen em. But I'm sure these guys have all the best Neosporin on steroids type stuff at their disposal. Some of the things the rich kids at the amateur level in 2005 had at their disposal was wild, I can only imagine HRC in 2024..
Tough Alpinestars pants, didn't even rip
Hope Jett heals up quickly, that was a hard hit.
Nobody else crashed on it just Jett. Why change the track. It's like kindergarten make everyone pay for 1 persons stupid riding
In practice Jett was only one tripling that jump so they change it. After the change he thought he could still do it and he came up short. They changed the track to slow Jett down.
@@rodneyneeson1335 That's Lame AF.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 it's lame but true he was a second quicker than everyone in qualifying.
Jett even pulling a double footed can can .
#1 plate please!
Still believe they are not revealing the entire amount of injuries that he had
He learned to push the bike away to avoid additional risk during an incident.
He did a sight lap
This will be the race that changes jetts riding.
Why? He's gone down way harder before 🤷♂️
Why? Person that's never spoken to Jett once and knows nothing about him.
@@jpdprophotography6693 It's a classic phenomenon in racing called "The Big One" and it comes for everybody sooner or later, not just in motorcycle racing. Deegan's is coming next, I don't WANT it or wish for, quite the contrary, but it's inevitable. Deegan was super close at Ironman that one year trying to go for a tricky hop over a little like what Jett crashed on, but they both were able to pop up and finish the moto.
@djjazzyjeff1232 yeah but that wasn't as bad as his get off back in 2020 on the 250. He's got a few more years before he starts caring about his body a little more.
@@jpdprophotography6693 It’s a subconscious thing, after a couple smacks like that, the kids just aren’t quite as reckless. Jett rides with such maturity for his age, this was frankly a rookie mistake. He was out front and “stepped on his D” as they say in Sprint Car racing. Pushing it, wrecked all by himself out front.
Jett is having just as much trouble as us regular guys setting up that damn Honda. That’s why I didn’t get one. Rode a buddies and hated it
I have no time on a current Honda, but everyone says they're very finicky.
#4 SAVED the 450 class today 😊
Lars always giving the vanilla answers.
We've seen jett come up short a few times in the last couple years but this time his luck ran out
The track was great, lots of lines.
Im old school but from wjhat I have learned the Honda seems to be to stiff many times. Justt a thoughht
Of course he says he can come back, he doesn’t want anyone to know that Jett has a BAD injury
Injury might heal but that pain isn’t going away soon. He’s gonna be limping for at least a week.
Very unlucky accident, hoping there's no long term body injury from it. Amazing how the media totally changed the narrative just because of Jetts crash🤦♂️
He will learn going fast hurts just ask Stewart
Why do so many people think this is his first crash? The kid has wiped himself out way harder already. He might be young but he's not inexperienced.
While i agree this is on Jett making the mistake as it is something he should have noticed changed on the parade lap, i also dont see any reason why they needed to cut down that jump, ive been saying for years there should only be bigger changes like jumps cut down or taken out if there was a serious safety issue, which would be well known. I think its kinda ridiculous how many times they have changed and cut down jumps this year because Jett was the only one Jumping it, they never did this with Stewart or Carmichael when they would do something nobody else was so why do that so much now?
They are trying to slow Jett down for more parity, because they think that’s what fans want.
Its just part of moto injuries always had been can attest to a ton of injuries but wouldn't trade it for nothing
Sounds like Jett gets the Stanky Leg pretty easily.
Jett wadds himself and they instantly change the track lmao. On the only part of the track that he was the only one sending that tripple. Jett got his first taste of reality. Another one of these with an injury will keep him in check. Wait till he goes down an actually gets hurt.
Ur an absolute clown.
I know it's like the 3rd time it's bullshit shows how elite he really is
Yeah that was definitely a stupid send. Maybe a couple laps in pull it but off the rip 1st moto on a watered track? Doesnt make sense to me
@@MyName-yl2nc He's all Feld and this sport have. Don't take this the wrong way. But in a year or two nobody will be left but Chase... and maybe Deegan makes it to 450's maybe not. Nobody is left to race him. I mean their is 7 guys out there racing. 3 able to hold a pace close to Jett. When Filthy Phill is pulling holeshots and top 10's, with all due respect something is wrong. I'm just glad the streak is over so they will shut up about it.
I respect the hell out of all those boys. But to change the track for a dumb decision Jett made just isn’t right. They would not have changed that if it were anyone else. I hope he’s ok though.

Whats that popular saying? "Championships are won on your worst days"....
There is no difference between Bubba's "Race Commentary" and "Race day live"? He can pretend to "Read Minds" and repeat Opinions after Races!
a gash wound like that isn't healing in a week... I don't care who the doctors are... that's a 10-14 day injury 7-10 of those days he's going to be in some pain... don't expect a 100% Jett in Colorado
This is the team's job always downplay what's going on,hard to grip the bike if you can't put any pressure on your leg thigh area.
Maybe sealed in a week if the flap still has blood flow. Open wound.. 2 weeks to a month.
I'd be more worried about his back. Yes young guys heal fast but they also push their luck with crackedand torn stuff.

Jett is perfect NOT this is MOTOCROSS
Tired of hearing about how perfect he is. He's human. No one's perfect
The fact that Jett finished the first moto and had a solid finish in the second should be more commended.
People are really talking out of their ass about the baddest dudes on dirtbikes to ever do it. The guy finishing 40th every weekend is a local legend where he grew up. Could ride better than 99% of people who ever threw a leg over a bike.
100%, he passed J Coop almost by accident that 2nd moto!
Lets just have Jett design all the tracks to his liking because we all know he needs another advantage.
You cant race at this level with stitches in your thigh..they will rip right out!.let alone a deep bruise.
Yet he came out in the 2nd moto and held 6th 🤷♂️
@@jpdprophotography6693 No stitches tho, probably something else these teams and Doc G have access to some wild stuff I'm sure.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 yep, medical glue
Hey Lars just a reminder. Hunter(your rider) is in second only 10 points behind. FFS. 😢
Hunter is going to be on the box most of the year. He's coming into his own on the 450.
Lara doesn't have xray, mri ir CT Scan abilities, so for him to say he will heal fast, for me as a retired medical professional make me laugh
I think it's in the Bible! It's in his crew to inform the rider if the tracks been altered.
"Jett-Boasting about that triple and being the only one to do it in practice/qualifying really didn't work out so well". Donuts all around! Kangarooed!!!
He mis judged that.. it was Jett’s fault no one else’s
Jett will get the points back in no time
If Chase does not crash out, it’s his year. Jett made a mistake by trying to get a good lead so he didn’t have to battle the entire time. Chase would have not made that mistake, that’s the difference this year. Jett will continue to be in the front but this weekend showed that he is a human and the playing field is back to reality.
Maybe your forgetting Chases 10 or 12 crashes while leading. Chase can be a leading crasher at times.
How he stayed on this 2nd moto only he knows, he nearly went down over 10 times.
Jett is faster , probably why he went undefeated last year out doors.
Chases history doesn't support this take he has threw away multiple races going down you're talking out of your ass
He didn't get hit by barcia they hit each other.
Tru, but he's Team HRC, he sorta HAS to frame it that way I'm not surprised and I don't blame him either.
Welp because JETT crashed on a jump their going to take all the jumps out on the rest of the tracks for him!
lol wut? You mean Decoster crying about whoops and getting them knocked down, and to 9 whoops because Webb can’t handle it?
🤦♂ the worst thing about the internet, is knowing that there are very stupid people out there. And they have followers.
What are you talking Jett was the only one jumping the triple. You ever think that they changed it so Jett wouldn’t have an advantage. And just pull away within a few laps.
these footings nowadays scare me...what if it was his neck?
I meant foot PEGS-I kind of don't like auto correct for me it causes more trouble than it saves
