- Kris Keefer asks mechanic Brent Duffe for the inside scoop on Haiden Deegan's YZ250F. Why spring fork for motocross instead of his supercross air fork? What off-set clamps? What about those trick footpegs? All that and much more as we learn all about the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha machine.

It all starts with the mechanic in my opinion, they are the riders better half and need way more recognition.
Agreed
Agreed
Facts!!
Duffie #1
🤦 bruh yeah right! Especially now days. Mechanics are a dime a dozen. They do what they are told. It’s not like the mechanic is coming up with some bad ass new setup na, that coming from moto gpx and japan. Lmao not this lame ass 🤡
Duff better move up to 450 when Heiden does couldn’t imagine him having a different mechanic. Duff is the best.
Duff is family now. He will be with Haiden for his entire career I'd bet.
Duff actually seems like he truly has Haiden’s back and knows what the kid needs from him to do his best. After his first futures race, Duff was there to pick him up and give him a pep talk. Having something in your corner like that, especially it being your mechanic, only makes you more confidence and trusting in what you do as an athlete.
Really good interview. Finally an interviewer who actually knows what he's talking about and asks good questions lol
Should run those colors every race!
DUFF always seems like the nicest guy .
Always wearing a smile
This was rad to see love deegs/duffe combo you can tell he really admires the kids work ethic and heart he has in the sport. I've seen comment after comment keep these two together and I totally agree he knows deegan is a future champ is going to win a lot I think they are a remarkable team and look forward to watching them this summer
Takes it down to the frame every Sunday. That’s so cool.
The only gem I took from this is that Eli hopped on Haydens bike in Colorado and I'm sad we will never get to see that
Well The Deegan and Tomac families and Haiden and their mechanics got to see it.
Eli is a baby he had his time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just put Haiden in thumbnail and even the haters will click and give you views 🤣
😅😅😅
So true.
My buddy Andrew Bauer from MN, all around good dude and mechanic tried like hell to get into the pro pits. He did it by wrenching for a bed and meals for mid level privateers. I think he may have worked on Davi Millsaps practice bikes for a bit. It is easy enough to get into the industry getting to where Duffe is though is incredibly difficult. Well done sir!
Nope, easy I bet. If you are good at what you do, and somebody needs your talent, you just have to do a little networking, (getting known), and if something is not there, I bet there will be shortly. But, you have to have the skills. That is why dopey Mathis has a pod cast now.
@@EarthSurferUSA Easy. Because there are 100 bike that show up every week and 200 more practice bikes so there is obviously plenty of bike for every kid that wants to be a professional mechanic to work on. Just do a little networking and you'll be good to go kid. Did you chat GPT that fairy tale? I just relayed a real life story and this idiot arm chair racer immediately dismisses it with platitudes and fantasy. I am losing faith in humanity.
Great team getting it done. Lets keep the momentum.
He couldn’t have said it better and he is 100% right Haiden is a great person and has really worked hard to get where he is and you can never buy the talent and skills he has and he is the Future and I’m so proud and happy for him and his Family and his Team and again I love that 50th anniversary Yamaha also Thank you guys for sharing this amazing video and his mechanic is awesome and he is to a great person and him and Haiden are like McGrath and Skip was back in the 90s and I’m super proud of them and also always got to Thank his Dad Brian as well for the way he raised him and showing him the path to success and I want to wish them all the best always #TheDeegans #HaidenDeegan #BrianDeegan #RacerX @Duffe
That was a really cool video! More of these!!
This guy always seems like such a nice guy. Definitely someone awesome to work with or for!!
Red line is set 'To the moon and back'
Redline ? Dont need no stinking rev limiter !
Duff is perfect for Deegs hope he’s on his bike for a long time
Goat Interview! Badass mechanic! sick bike!
Duff and Haiden are one hell of a team that's for sure!

561 to 303...shout out for knowing the difference between Lakewood and Denver...palm beach represent
I from Wellington,fl . Nice to someone else from palm beach county 👍🏻
See ya at MotoBros ! My bike will be smoking a bit 😂
Love the look
Awesome!
Deegan is the modern day McGrath. I love it. I always loved McGrath and deegan has the same go get it attitude.
I think he is more like RC. MC was a puss outdoors. But he did win a national title between ovulation's.
lol I don't think Haiden will let Jett win 73 SX races. Might be the other way around. :)
The duff man ...o yeah... duff baby it gets the job done
I love this bike Dangerboy 💯
I love it
Yamaha put out probably the trickest bike ever
Haiden has a badass bike. That purple back ground looks good on that bike. I bet next year he’ll have it again. I believe in him that he can take everyone to school.👍🙏💯✌️🤙✊😎💪🫡🇺🇸
Let’s go duff!!
I have a 24 250f and I’m looking to enlarge the tank. What tank are they using? How much gas does it hold? I’m seeing a 2.8 but that’s too big I think. Any help would be appreciated 🙂
🐝🏁 Video 👍
Brent is the man! Deegs will be a 3x SuperMotocross champ before he moves up to 450.
I say he is ready for 450 after these nationals, and he will win some races during his first big bike season. From start to finish, I think he is a "stand out" also, next to Jett.
The same bike he raced at Loretta Lynn's.
Haiden wouldn’t be haiden without duffe.duffe doesn’t want the attention but he makes sure that bike and haiden are ready come Saturday…duffe is one of the coolest dudes you’ll ever meet…matter fact, the Yamaha team dudes are pretty good fellas
nice bike i like it
That bike is beautiful
Duff is the man
Letttssss goooooo, Duf!!!!@@
🔥🔥🔥
Duff n deegs gonna win mx and smx
Is an altitude motor the same as a Deegans Loretta Lynns amatuer motor?
😂😂😂
Thanks for the time gentelman🏁🏁🏆✨️🏋♂️✨️🏋♂️great BIKE ,,WHAT A MANCHILD on that machine😂🎉🎉😂🏋♂️🙌🤳🌟
Same engine mods Deeg was running at Loretta Lynn's Amateur National's last year when that issue with the bike claim happened...???
And Deegans handled that issue as well as could be. A rule to force you to give up your private property? That is lawlessness. That rule, I thought was gone in the 70's, and it needs to be off the books, to be moral.
bullshit, they have tech inspection at that level. Brennans a little bitch.
Is this bike for sale? Asking for a friend..
Thinking of claiming it ....🤔
Where can we get those rims? So sick
Maybe the manufactures name is on their product, and you can pick up a phone and call them? Or search the streets. lol
Where do you think you can get them son?
Low key down to earth Humble but will be at your trailer crying if you bump him!🤣
We want more duffe
🎙️ I couldn't have done it without MMI on my resume😅
That was interesting. He wouldn't tell us the off set, the gearing, what the exhaust is, what's been done to the motor, rev limit, the air box modifications and fuel tank size. Air forks for supercross and springs for motocross. That's all I got out of it.
The closest you can get too a star Yamaha bike is with GYTR but their are a few secrets that all the pro teams hide from each other and they all want too know those secrets.
How much could it ever matter saying the gearing or offsets. They all have access to whatever works I would guess…..
I would be so fast on this bike! At 64 years old, those guys better be glad I'm not out there with them. I would surely cause them to crash because I would be like a road block when they came up on me. But boy on the straightaways I would be screwing it on! lol
Haiden is Brian Deegans kid!!, and he does not have any tattoo's!!!!!!!!???
That kid is serious. I peg him tough to beat for his entire career.
I like what he says. He is a confident kid, and I love to see it. :)
Haiden has his thigh tattooed
Can someone buy Yamaha and cut the holes in the air filter top or is that for a modified engine only?
Lmao
Any 4 stroke Yamaha with the intake in the front should have holes drilled in it so yes
hes won the. last 3 races too
Awesome Duffe38 & Dangerboy the best Combo
Never knew Duff was tall as Kris..
So there’s a clutch and other things that we can’t get. So explain again why we have the production rule
Those them Loretta engines? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Most important person on any team is the person responsible for the bike! There are a few out there, but most fast riders are shit mechanics... I repeat MOST of them. So It doesn't matter how amazing your rider is... if the bike dnf's. Very overlooked in my opinion. Props to all the mechanics out there in the trenches!
agreed props to them, they work their asses off all day long come race day
Whats the horse power of a bike like that? 40 horses
0:36 Wait, why would this not be a factory bike?
Pos just like his dad we all remember the 17,000 bike deal for his bike
It’s how he talks on the podium that makes people think that
Star is the American factory Yamaha
Kris has some good taste in footwear 👌
Now he has to figure out how to make a red plate cool
Anybody here think Jett will be in trouble after Haiden gets on the 450's?
If not, why? If so, how long will it take to beat Jett straight up? Lets see your opinions. What do YOU think?
"Off track edition"?
Look how far back his bars are over the top of the forks
I am old school, but before and during the time when freestyle took off around 1995. They all ride with high bars today, more forward body, and more rear end sag (100 to 105mm typ), so they don't tease the front end trail too much, (but it still bites them once in a while). I got back into riding a few years back (60 now), and I could not stand the freestyle set up. I could not feel the front tire biting into the ground as well for cornering (OK in a berm though), and the bars felt twitchy.
Today, I see go-pros at amateur tracks, and man there are a lot of kids who are very slow in the corners, but good jumpers. I see quite a few pros falling on flat ground into and out of corners too. Maynbe good for rhythm sections,---but it is a freestyle set up, and it amazes me because I think I am seeing a irrational "sheep mentality".
Yamaha is the best brand for dirt bike
Most sold bike on the planet today, the YZ250 2-stroke.
@Brent there is a career in politics when you done with this 🤣
He said the deegans are humble 😂😂
Well compared to you...
They are down too earth people but if you are a dick sucker and in this case you are they will treat you like shit and will ignore you.
Dam where's 14k when you need it
Had Duff Sweatin’😅
Dumb Secrets.
As if knowing what races are in a Yamaha is going to somehow be an advantage to Kawi or KTM 🙄
Nice bike i'll give you 15k for it
Not for sale. Anything else is stealing. Not hard to understand.
Looks like the perfect claim.
Engine is stock my ass 🤣 watching the star bikes go up big gulp and then watching regular 250f go up it there’s zero chance it’s stock motor.
nobody trying to buy his bike this year i bet ya.
Just don’t try to claim it.
Second injector wink wink
Why do you guys run your handlebars so high like a freestyle bike? You don't need to do that.
Just saying. Eli Tomac. :)
Please don’t tell me pink on dirt bikes is coming back? Ugh, I lived the 90s, no more pink
"You would think he would be a little more arrogant"? Have you watched most of his race interviews? Pretty arrogant and oddly it's worse when he wins. From what I've watched over the years I think he's probably a good kid away from the mic but with his father's influence he is starting to seem like a bully and I don't think that's going to serve him well. I know it turns me off. great interview, though.
He's not arrogant, he's cocky and as long as he can back it up (which he does) MORE props to him!! Racing needs more people like him... it's become boring. But then again, this country has become so p*ssfied, most likley to many people will get their feelers hurt.
How would you act if you were 17 and winning the 250 pro nationals?? He’s a good kid, very humble and grounded in real life. He’s stirring up shit in motocross; the best thing possible for the sport!
🐕🦺
careful, someone might claim it and you'll have to get daddy
The mechanic the dope love the dude. But I feel like the guy doing the interview is still trying to slam deegan and say he has parts the normal rider can’t get
Bro they all do 😂
Why wasn't they so open about his loretta lynn bike a few years ago...
All kinds of shady nonsense went down at that amateur race involving an illegal bike and this exact team !!!
No one else caused any of that except Yamaha and this crew....
Facts are facts , the kid never got the bike and the whole situation was a clown show.
You are looking at it the wrong way IMO. I am 60 now, and I thought that "claiming rule" was gone in the 70's, because it is immoral to be forced out of your private property. If we have rules like that, it can extend in other places, like illegal immigrants claiming your home. It is all about proper law, that protects private property, so that claiming rule is lawlessness. Deegans did the right and moral thing. They did not let their property get stolen (a payment/sale is agreed upon, voluntary. No force. The bike was not for sale. Lawlessness)
Now for the "cheating bike". For some irrational reason, people think because he cheated, somebody gets to steal his bike. They are separate issues. The penalty for a cheater bike is disqualification---not bike confiscation. Now,---if you want to protect your own private property rights in your future,--you better understand my point of view. Because stuff like that is one way we lose our rights,---as we accept the "rule" good or bad.
Happy to help. Doug in Michigan.
Not a 250
