For the record , plenty of climbers have successfully submitted Everest without Oxygen. And Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler became the first men to climb Everest without supplemental oxygen in 1978.

I don’t remember which video it was but there was an Everest expert who broke down the camera thing explaining that it actually wasn’t a VPK that they had on the final summit attempt but was instead another type of camera that would be far less likely to survive any fall damage
Everest Mystery Channel w speaker Tom Gustaphson talked about the different cameras and lenses . Micheal Tracy is also a good channel to look up on this subject
The Rope Snap: possibly the rope dragged Irvine down behind Mallory, and Irvine got stuck in some rocks, killing Irvine and breaking the rope.
Summit success doesn't count unless you make it down as well.

You guys climbers? You clearly did no research.
No proof they made it past the first step where they fell and died.
Mallory said the second step was "impossible" to climb. I think they took the zig zag route and either made it or had to turn around there and died on the way down. People need to remember the Chinese have a vested interest in preventing any truth to come out.
I also read an account that proposed another possibility: There was a great deal of snow on Everest that year, and may have built a snow ridge that covered the second step, and made it into a much less difficult climb than it is today. Thus possible for the two men to climb it in mere minutes as Odell reported.

I heard this theory too, many years ago. Glad you brought it up, as it rarely gets a mention anymore even though it would explain the sighting of the two at 12:50 or so. But also, just a couple years ago I discovered Micheal Tracy’s channel and learned that in private letters between the 1922 and 1924 expeditions, Mallory pretty much ruled out an attempt following the ridge crest. In fact, Norton’s traverse was the “standard route” until after World War 2, and I think that’s the only logical way for Mallory and Irvine to have attempted in 1924. I was shocked that I only learned about this “standard route” in my late 40s. Why did everyone I ever heard discuss the 1924 expedition basically pretend it didn’t exist for 80 years? The whole thing smacks of a coverup of some sort. Norton, the expedition leader, may have influenced the reporting so he could continue to claim the altitude record for years to come. Then Nepal opened their side to climbers and suddenly the mountain became just a bit easier. Not much, but just enough. Finally the Chinese took over Tibet and they climbed it via the northeast ridge, supposedly for the first time, in 1960. After that, it became taboo to mention the probable route Mallory and Irvine would have taken, because there is no obstacle like the 2nd Step, and the math points to Mallory and Irvine reaching the summit before turning back and falling to their deaths after dark, probably even after moonset. The timing alone suggests they did something unwise after crossing a kind of point of no return. The best explanation is they were getting close and “summit fever” drove them on after they should have turned back. In fact, Sandy Irvine even wrote that if it came to it, he would rather summit and die than turn back within a few hundred meters and live. To me, this is clearly the most logical explanation. But the powers-that-be don’t want us to know all the facts, because it would cast a shadow over their glory.
