      I bank with them and looked as soon as I saw this. Apparently the EULA has been changed, presumably due to the pushback, and the language about Firearms and Ammo has been removed. It now says you cannot use the account to do illegal stuff.

    This is actually my bank, and the CEO just sent out an apology e-mail about 10 minutes ago (7/11 1:00 PM PT). They completely removed all of the offending language, and the CEO said they won't try to prohibit us from buying firearms or ammo. Now, obviously this happened because we all went and pulled our money out of our accounts. I pulled over $122k out and left $5.00 in there so the account didn't actually close. It's a lot of panick apologizing, and it's surely not sincere, but now they know who they serve.

    Effective 7/1/24 Indiana passed a law that prohibits any financial institution from utilizing merchant codes to track the purchasing of firearms or ammo, and also prohibits government entities from maintaining a firearm owner registry... Thank God for our freedom loving governor Eric Holcomb here in the great state of Indiana. 🇺🇸

      Back in the late 80's, early 90's when I was driving over the road , Trucker News had a story bout how Idaho wanted to place an income tax on anyone who made a portion of there living while in there state, no chit. An airline pilot, stewardess, truck driver, anyone who works in their state but lives in another . Evidently it didn't pass. But the fact that they even tried.

      @@Kulfaangaren EULA and TOS aren't legal contracts. NDAs aren't legally binding either if they pertain to something that's illegal. You know, like not allowing people to use their own money. "each choice comes with consequences." Just because you don't think it's worth it to take legal action against a company for violating your rights doesn't mean that you wouldn't be able to if you chose to. But at the same time, it's a lot easier to find another less retarded credit union or make another free account than spend years of your life and untold legal fees fighting it out.

      It kind of sounds like the board at ICCU had some outside Idaho influence. I personally don't bank with them, was thinking about. Now with the crap they just pulled never will open an account with them. They may have just "bud lighted" themselves. They have no one else to blame but themselves. Hoping that person whom wrote the terms and conditions gets fired!

    My former credit union had signs on their doors stating, NO WEAPONS ALLOWED, being a security officer, I told them that this was an advertisement to criminals that your unarmed, and ready to be robbed. They ignored me, saying I didn't know anything, I pulled my account. Shorty after I moved to another state, they were robbed at gun point, and their signs no longer adore their building. My friend, that is friends with one of the tellers, said, the managers were very sorry they hadn't paid attention to the warnings they got. She apparently reminded them that they were warned by a security expert, and have only themselves, and their ignorance to blame. The place shut down a few months later.

      That is a common security posture for credit unions. A no Firearms Alowed sign and an armed guard, but location also adds to risk. They may have been part of the reason to close that branch.

    I have a few secondary accounts with ICCU and these new terms popped up just 2-3 days ago when logging into online-banking. I declined and had planned to go down to the local branch to close my account and let them know what I think of their idea of telling me what I should do with my money. Just a day later new terms were shown with most of these restrictions gone. I don't care what it is they want to regulate, I can buy what I want as long as it's legal. A bank that doesn't agree with that is not going to get my business.

    I'm stuck in Canuckistan here - one of the most regulated and taxed country in the world.
    I moved to a credit union after our "federal institutions" outright seized customers accounts and crypto wallets when they protested government overreach.
    The fact they changed the policy immediately based on customer response is the difference between a credit union and one of the big crony banking cartels that prop up the federal institution.

    Almost all those things that they listed were absolutely absurd! You mentioned the child support, but also the other stuff that stood out was “fines” (you can’t pay a ticket or something similar when they offer debit transactions?), “gambling debts” (you can’t pay a company that helps get rid of gambling debts?), “controlled substances” (you can’t pay for a prescription if you’re prescribed to the *wrong* medication?) “sexually oriented materials” (you and your wife can’t buy some fun bedroom stuff, contraceptives, lingerie?). Why the hell do these financial institutions think it’s somehow their responsibility to monitor my own legal activities?!!

    If I banked there, I would be one of those people. I closed an account with Chase when I read about them illegally foreclosing on active duty service member's homes while they were deployed. I made sure to tell them WHY I was closing my account too.
