This is my top 6 riffs by MyChemical Romance. Why 6? because I think these are the very best off of their albums. Of course, I like all their music. Btw, this is my own opinion.
This band is very special to me, because thanks to them I wanted to become a musician since I was kid. And, as weird as it sounds, they made me like heavier music. Yup, first some core and emo stuff, and then, that lead me to the love of my life, metal music.
Making this video was actually pretty fun because I got to know what kind of gear they used at the time, tried to replicate their guitar tone and remembered how well done their songs are.
00:00 - Riff 6
00:17 - Riff 5
00:44 - Riff 4
01:12 - Riff 3
01:37 - Riff 2
02:10 - Riff 1

I do not own the rights of these songs. - Hudba
everybody say "thank you ray toro!"
Ray and Frank! Thanks for watching!
yes! his guitar sounds are awesome
listening to these riffs on their own, I would think MCR was a metalcore band
Absolutely! They have a lot of interesting things going on! Really cool guitar work!
omg mcr is totally an abbreviation for metalcore
@@CarloFenrir agreed, ray toro is one of if not my favorite guitarist
Drop tune things a little bit and they would be. Ray Toro is a pimp on the geetar
they're a rock band, and Ik they aren't the same but they have a similar vibe to them, they can easily be modified by tone and playing style alone to be one or the other lol
I know in my insides that "Thank you for the venom" was the first place...
Of course! My favourite riff of all their songs! Thanks for watching!
That’s what I thought!!!
I started listening to them because of peer influence, when emo was a thing.
Now, as a musician, I appreciate and can highly praise their guitar work everytime. Frank and Rey are geniuses on making countermelody guitar lines.
I listened to them before the emo thing became so big. But I always loved them, and still. Even tho I listen to death metal and super heavy music🤣.
And yes, their guitar work is just top notch! Thanks for watching!
I feel like you could just pick any 6 songs from three cheers and itd be valid. The guitar work on that album is unmatched
Absolutely! It's my favourite album by them, the vibe, the style, is just super cool. I think the songwriting and everything it's so well made, that sometimes people kind of overlook MCR guitar work. But that's really cool tho, cause the songs are perfectly made. Thanks for watching!
@@CarloFenririt's also My favorite álbum!! Dude your video is great ❤
Y e s
They're a sick sick band and the guitar parts are always mesmerizing to me
Yup, their first 2 albums made me play the guitar and be a musician. Great band.
@@CarloFenrirsame bro same
I love Bury me in Black. I really wish we could get a finished version of it.
Right? I waited for it for years, but it never happened. Thanks for watching.
It is finished, it just wast left off the album
nothing can really beat the outro (dual vocals part) to Vampires Will Never Hurt You for me... something about it
This are just my top riffs but I love their first 2 albums in their entirety. I can listen to them from start to finish any day! And Vampires song is just amazing. Thanks for watching!
I knew about this band since I was a kid but didn't ACTUALLY get into them until the 10th anniversary of The Black Parade. Since then, I've kinda realized that out of all their contemporaries, they're by far the closest to being a legitimate, traditional rock band (well, without the sex and drugs). Compared to Fall Out Boy, Panic!, All-American Rejects, and more of that scene, MCR legitimately rocked the hardest out of all of them. I'll always respect them for that.
For me they're super special because they are the reason I decided to be a musician. And I agree, I think of all those bands they stayed true to their style. Besides they introduced me to metal music! They have a lot of heavy metal influence in their songs and playing. Thanks for watching!
Frank coming from a punk/HC background and Ray coming from a metal background, I think it gives them this style thats unique to the band while also being very accessible and enjoyable on the ears, while also leaving space for and complimenting Gerards theatrical vocal style
Yeah, they created a really unique and cool sound. But I think the most impressive and cool thing is what you say about how well everything blends with Gerard vocals. Thanks for watching!
thank you for the venom's riff is so acid
Ikr, and it's so fun to play. I still got chills when I listen to it.
All some of my favorites
Mine too. I think that could be my top 6 haha. Consider subscribing if you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
Im not a big fan of 7 strings but now i want one that thing is gorgeous
They are a lot of fun! And thanks, that guitar is one of my favourites! You should try one. Thanks for watching!
thank you for the venom was the first mcr song i started practicing and most likely my no. 1 favorite mcr song so im glad you ranked that as your no. 1 too lmao, legendary video
From time to time I listen to three cheers album, and when thank you for the venom hits, I still get chills! Thanks for watching!
thank you for the venom always just does it for me it's such a great song
Amazing song indeed! Thanks for watching!
All of these are just beautiful
I know! Ray's and Frank's guitar work is just outstanding!
the list's ingretiends are really original.
Usually people preparing classic lists.
Black parade, im not ok ... but yours... chosen good rifs, I loved it
Yes! And to be honest, these are some of my favourite songs too. I like the popular ones but not that much. Thanks for watching!
Awesome list! I love all their albums about equally, but my favorite material is their post-Black Parade stuff (Conventional Weapons, Danger Days, Mad Gear, and Fake Your Death) for the most part, but I have to admit that the riffage is way more memorable for the first two records!
I LOVE Sorrows, but for me, I personally prefer the intro to Halos! Also super glad to see BMIB get it's shine
Thanks man! Tbh all their stuff is super good. However, the first two albums were the reason I got into play guitar! I think that's why I picked riffs from those two albums haha. But, yeah, all their stuff is amazing. I'm waiting for a new album now that they got back together! Thanks for watching!
@@CarloFenrir You're welcome!
Yeah, same! I'm really excited for what comes next. I forgot to mention that TFOD also has to be one of my favorites (and Mikey said it's his favorite MCR song. Usually artists hype up the new stuff just because it's new, but I definitely take the MCR guys at their word). Really wondering if it'll be a concept record again, or they'll what they tried to do with CW and just do a normal album
This is why I laugh when ppl back in the day used to write MCR off, I’m like dude this just tells me you’ve never actually taken the time to listen to their material. I would also add sorrows and the drop in This is How I Disappear
Yup, their musical work is top notch! Sometimes people just like to hate on some bands. I mean music is subjective, if you don't like it, move on. We have like thousands of music genres. Why bother. Thanks for watching!
yep, so agreed! give em hell kid is my absolute fav
That intro... Thanks for watching!
Where is honey this mirror isn’t the big enough for the two of us?
Love the song, I would put it in honorable mentions. Thanks for watching!
My favorites songs are To the end and Give em hell so I like this video
To the End has a unique spooky vibe that I love. One of my favourite songs of all time. Thanks for watching man!
Bury me in black and thank you for the venom is pretty heavy
Hell yes! Thanks for watching!
Great list, wondering where you would put It's Not A Fashion Statement though 😉
It's funny because that song is somewhat like "I'm Not Ok". They don't have a solid riff IMO (but they have a strong melody tho), but I really like those songs. In fact I love 3 cheers in its entirety. I think I'll be listening to it until I die.
this tone makes them sound like early A7X lol. I dig it!
I did a little research and found out they used some marshalls in that album so I tried to replicate it haha. I really like how it sounds, however it's not super accurate. Thanks for watching!
@@CarloFenrir idk shit about tone so you're doing far better than I could've. Keep it up
I knew already that Venom would be #1, and I was definitely more curious to see what the other picks would be. Great playing as well!
Also I’ve seen in some replies that you love Bullets and Three Cheers, but I’m interested to hear what you think about The Black Parade and Danger Days if you’ve listened (and also Conventional Weapons)
Thanks for watching! Haha yeah, I could say my love for metal music is thanks to that riff alone.
MCR guitarists are so underrated
I agree, I mean they are super famous, but I do think that their guitar work and skills are kinda ignored. However, idk if it's a bad thing, people are really paying attention to what it's important, their music as a whole.
Would probably swap out To the End with Honey this Mirror but great choices my guy
In fact, the song was on my list but To The End has this spooky goth vibe that I love! To be honest, I like those 2 albums in their entirety and was tough to choose the riffs. Thanks for watching and reaching out!
Loved it!
This Is The Best Video Ever !!!!!
Thanks for watching!
:3
Famous last words
Awesome song!
The moment I read the title I was 100% sure thank you for the venom is going to be #1. First time I listened to the song I said to myself "this is the most metal riff I think they're ever composed" and well I was right haha
For sure! I think it's one of my favorite riffs of all time. Kind of Melodic death metal and metalcore. Thanks for watching!
I hope there’s full length versions lol
At least not from me :( but I'm planning to make the full cover of "Thank you for the Venom". Thanks for watching!
Oh I absolutely love the way you play Venom, I might actually try playing it that way!
Thank you! I tried to downpick everything! It felt more aggresive and consistent. It's a really fun riff to play. Thanks for watching!
Bury Me In Black sounds like something out of a A7X song
i guessed them all in order (also a metal fan)
Cool man! Thanks for watching!
all of my absolute faves my guy
You have good taste, man! Thanks for watching!
Great covers! Deathwish and Sister to Sleep would’ve made my list over To The End and Jetset. Thanks for posting!!
Those are great songs too! But To The End and Jetset have this spooky and dark vibe that really made me love more heavier music with a more dark atmosphere. Thanks for watching!
Happy that Bury Me in Black is here.
Great song. I wish they could've recorded a studio album version, not just the demo. But great song nonetheless. Thanks for watching!
give em hell kid riff makes me throw up every time i hear it (out of excitement) (bc it sounds so good)
You made me laugh so hard haha! It is really a great intro and riff! I still remember the first time I listened to it, it was life changing. Thanks for watching!
Long live My Chemical Romance ♥️
I'm waiting for new music with my black eyeliner in hand.
@@CarloFenrir hopefully we get a full album. Paper Kingdom would be sick. Gotta be a story behind Foundations of decay besides the obvious. What a great song tho.
Amos a verloooos
Let me get my black eyeliner.
thank you for the venom is a little off but its ok
riffs on there own dont sound emo more metalcore
IMO they don't sound emo as a band. I think it's just their band image. Emo were more like From First to Last, Underoath, Asking Alexandria, etc. Thanks for watching!
I like how there's nothing from Black Parade or Danger Days lol those albums were trash
Haha I wouldn't say they're trash I like black parade and some songs in Danger Days. However, by the time Black Parade was out, I was already in love with metal music in general. So Black Parade and Danger Days were too light for me at the time and I didn't give them any attention at all. Thanks for watching!
metal fans have terrible tastes
wtf are you on about are you slow? as a very big mcr fan i agree with this guy
