- The 2024 Tennessee National MTB races were a really good time. This event always presents me with a challenge. After not riding much at all during the off-season due to work and weather, showing up to Windrock to race against the best in the world unprepared is always a bit nerve-wracking and frustrating. My fitness is not where I need it to be and it showed during seeding. An unfortunate crash at the top of my race run left me cruising down the track for good ol' last place. Regardless, it was a fun weekend on the downhill bike!

@@Blake_Cherubini the top seeded riders make the show but we film all the pros. Gotta capture the hot seat into top 8 and for scenarios like this.
Like Michael Schumacher the potential added mass runs the risk of increasing head injuries.
Probably some truth to that. I just wish it was better communicated beforehand with a solution brought to the table. We all know the risks that come with this sport. A GoPro is the least of our worries lol.
You can run a 900gram super light mtb helmet or 1600 gram moto helmet and no one would be the wiser. A gopro weighs 150grams... that's just dumb thats the justification.

They're getting rid of GoPros on helmets due to neck injuries, the GoPro can catch on the ground and cause major neck injuries. The rule was originally introduced in professional kart racing...
I'm sure there a tiny bit of truth to that but it's still a silly rule. Let the riders make their own decisions. After all, we each get to decide what type of protection we want to wear. This should be treated the same.
@@Blake_Cherubini i agree, in the kart world you're on a smooth surface with a helmet designed to slide, downhill helmets dont have the same design features and adding a gopro isnt gonna change it. I do think its a poor rule in general with our sport. Would love to see a statement from them as to why.

World Cup races only allow helmet mounted action cams. And if you do record your race run with an action cam they (UCI) own the footage. So lame as the riders themselves do the majority of social media promotion.
USAC has became another money grab organization killing the sport at the local level. Smooth riding though bro!
