  • Indian Neighbours Cosy Up to China in New Worry for New Delhi | Vantage with Palki Sharma
    China has shipped more than 1,500 tonnes of drinking water to the Indian Ocean island nation of the Maldives. Nepal and China have agreed to sign a deal for the implementation of Xi Jinping's flagship Belt and Road Initiative in the coming months. The deal has been criticised for its secrecy by lawmakers in Nepal. In Sri Lanka, the Chinese have agreed to expand the Hambantota port and the Colombo International Airport. China is the largest bilateral lender to Sri Lanka, making up 17% of its total foreign debt. Is India losing its grip over South Asia? Why are India's neighbours cosying up to China? Palki Sharma tells you.

    India should responsibly talk about the open border of Nepal. The part of Nepal isn’t piece of cake and our constitution is our agenda, not India’s. If India wants to be strong nation then they should provide enough maturity and political honesty to its neighbor countries. Love Nepal, Love India, & Love friendship forever.

      This is not chief reason. India has largest number of people, who live on the street in the world, and this has been going on since the Bristish ravaged the country. Yet, Indians seem willing to continue to associate Englishness with goodness. When are Indians going to return to the virtues and philosophies of ancient India? The values Indians accepted and practiced today are colonial system of oppression and division.
      It was England that has divided Indian and the Indian people and today's Indians are still willing to live with the divisiveness that the English had introduced and maintained in order to keep control and plunder the treasures of India.

You were asking for a measly aid of 3 billion USD from IMF who literally made you go to your knees & beg for it, while IMF was doling out hundreds of billions of US dollars to other European countries. We stood as a guarantor for you, without which IMF was unwilling to grant you the loan. Nobody bails out bankrupt countries without guarantees. Palki raised her voice against the injustice to Sri Lanka by the IMF. And this is how you respond! But yes, of course you can go cozy up to the dragon & get burnt & crushed under its debt.

      Before Modi came to power, the Sino-Indian border had been peaceful for decades. Many Chinese companies invested in India, and trade between the two countries opened up a harmonious and win-win situation. But after the Sino-US trade war began, everything changed. The United States asked India to join the team to contain China, and Modi began to follow the United States in causing trouble. Only then did the relationship between the two countries begin to become tense.

      @@Alsace2018 It was not a win-win situation ever! Trade deficit between India and China was huge and the deficit grew... Salami slicing was on! Rahul Gandhi in 2008 during a visit to China for Olympics games signed an MOU to allow China to do as they please which is why everything seemed quiet. An MOU he signed just like the heads of other neighbouring countries' corrupt leaders signed and now their countries are indebted to China. These leaders now have to present themselves whenever the master calls! We are very fortunate that we had the good sense to elect PM Modi. PM Modi & EAM Jaishankar can't be bought and will not bend to any country's will but will do everything in their power to consolidate & further India's interest. They are also working to reduce the trade deficit with China & controlling China's aggression on the borders.

You minions has been parroting that China is broke and morally bankrupted and their economy is dwindling faster than India's...so....how are you gonna tell me this bull about China all of a sudden have money to buy off everybody??? In reality China has LOTS of money alright, more than India can dreamed of, but they are not as stupid as your nation and spend it on unnecessary b.s., they use it towards their infrastructures and help educate and provide for their own citizens, again, unlike you in slumbai.
      Back to your silly notion; so by your definition China should owned a part of India by now, right? Why? Because the Ambanis has defaulted on THREE major Chinese banks that gave them loans in 'good faith' while NO ONE wanted to, and China invested in most of your unicorn startups like Zomato, PayTM which many went belly up. Should they owned you minions by now for fking up their hard-earned money?

  • @pkredastra
    @pkredastra Před 28 dny +7

    Ms. Palki Sharma, you need to remember one basic feature of international geopolitics or for that matter, the basics of human attitudes, aspirations and its long term goals.
    Countries, in particular smaller or economically weaker countries always tilt towards the source of power and here power primarily refers to the economic might.
    China has emerged as economic and technological powerhouse. It is an acceptable fact, that the economically weaker countries, slowly but surely scramble towards the source of economic superiority whether it originates from China, Russia, America or EU. At the same time, the economic and technological might has a natural tendency to exert influence beyond their respective boundaries. It is an inevitable phenomenon with all its likelihood to follow, if
    today, countries in our immediate neighborhood are clamouring to benefit from the Chinese economic and technological prowess. China is in a position to aid and fulfill the developmental aspirations of all these countries . The CPEC in Pakistan, the Bangabandhu bridge in Bangladesh, the railway link with Nepal, seaports in Myanmar and Sri Lanka all go on to emphasize the might of China.
    On the other hand what can India offer to these countries. India it itself grappling with its internal inbuilt systemic economic, social and political contradictions. The country performs dismally in almost all the Humal Development Index parameters. However, the ruling class, the media owned by them and their servile cheerleaders in the middle class carry out an incessant propaganda about everything being hunky-dory. A smokescreen of five trillion economy, blah blah blah is blared out deliberately which unfortunately has very little impact on the wellbeing of the majority of Indians.
    Under such a background, India is in no position to offer much, even if it tried, to exert influence on its neighbours.
    The more journalists like you embrace this fact in your political narratives, with respect to China, the better you would be positioned to provide an impartial and a just analysis.

    To be honest, China did not ask countries such as Bangladesh and Nepal to stand in line between China and India, but rather sought cooperation with each other. Even in the conflict between China and the Philippines, China did not ask Southeast Asian countries to stand in line between China and the United States. All countries act in accordance with their own national interests, and India seeks cooperation by either respecting each other or paying. There is nothing to complain about.
