Its a tape you just dunk in water and wrap it on. Shrinks and dries quick with a rediculously tough fiberglass like finish. I used to use it on corroded 3”solvent pipe leaks all the time

@atadventures2336 - i had the same thought as you. I think that "what's missing" might be missing because of a "rights" issue. I have emailed the team to expressly volunteer my consent to use any video they have of me from the week we visited Nome. But, chasing down everyone from "Emily's Trip '23".. to ask for consent to appear in commercial content.. to make a segment which isn't really about Eroica or offshore gold.. might have been more hassle than it would be worth..

You have a tig welder! You could have tig brazed or tig welded that heat exchanger hole! One thing you can do is use stripped romex, the stuff they wire houses with. Since that was copper you could have also used aluminum bronze or silicon bronze filler wire. Just something to keep in mind for the next time!

As I have stated before you need to buy some Stop-It pipe repair kits and you could repair these leaks in minites and not be shut down. They work really well for keeping you up and running. You could have stopped that leak in 10 minutes and been running unhampered.

Hi Emily. Curious to know why you don't seem to use riffles in the sluice box? Do you not lose some gold out the back by using just expanded steel mesh over the carpets?
Would the diver be able to tether a small gardener’s hand cultivator three prong rake to scrap the clay and free the gold for the nozzle? They are strong enough to free the gold without being cumbersome with the nozzle. Amazing gold! Awesome video!

I love your videos. Ive been watching bsg since the beginning and I've always wondered wouldn't it be smart if the diver had like a ice pick/axe that he could use to help the dredge to get deeper... probably something you guys have tried but still just a tought I've had...

When you sell your gold to a buyer, how does he /she make $. If gold has a price per ounce?
Gold buyers are like any middleman. They take their pound of flesh by purchasing for less than spot. Big, established refiners take less than a couple % margin, cash buyers (which we never use) will take more.

Thanks Gary! Probably not. The excavators aren't as profitable as everyone thinks and we have our hands plenty full with the diver dredge. Can take almost a decade to really get a new operation dialed in and profitable. Seriously jealous of the weather down there!

We are approaching the cold months and over the past week or so have been getting ice on the ground in the mornings.
Nothing like what you get there I imagine but it is all relative.
I’m going opal mining in several weeks to a place called Lightning Ridge where the temperatures get well up in the high 40’s C so I will be going from one extreme to the other.
Anyway guys, here’s trusting that you and the family are well and happy and I wish you success in your work.
Incidentally, I don’t know who the mastermind is that decided to go with the new format, whoever it was deserves a raise or whatever you do to reward a great idea. It is very professionally done and so, so much better than BSG.

Why didnt you weld the hole in the heat exchange thing?
I was thinking the same thing. A little brazing rod or soldering on that copper should last a long time.
I do believe silver solder brazing real silver solder, you could have fixed that whole. Excellent for welding many different types of material that's just about impossible to do with conventional welding, meaning Meg or arc welding this is a animal all by itself. Usually done with a fine tip and acetylene torches. You usually need to make the metal turned red, but be careful you do not melt the copper, take it real easy. I would practice on a piece of copper plate and to you get good with it, I'm just about 100% positive you can do this with copper brass cast-iron really good stop you should have your husband look into this for the next time around. Just a suggestion :-)

Q? Always curious, How much the divers you employ make? Is it a wage plus bonus? How much can a diver make per month? Even on the gold shows, they never tell how much the employees make. And what they are paid, for doing the show.

That repair would have taken me no more than an hour to fix
The fix was fast, it's getting parts and supplies that's slow. That's what surprises everyone when they try their hand at mining up here!

Why dont you guys weld a steel round bar at the end of the nozzle right down the middle? (|) Then you will never have another blockage or plug up that stops you from working.
Get this question every single week. The reducer ring design is pretty much universal up here over the cross bars. Has to do with the gaps being too big and getting rocks and boulders lodged in there all the time and slowing the diver way down. It's not river dredging - these things are big and powerful and we deal with a lot of big, pointy boulders
