@@gerdtt79 Well, it has a deep message of life (life is a gift, make each day count and live it, as it was your last AND even the unthinkable can happen) and is supposed to tell us what happened that night. The movie shows us, not only the tragic side of the ship, but also the happy side and what the people thought of the ship back then. I think "Titanic" is connecting us to the passengers and the ship in a way, so that we feel what they felt back in 1912. (I´m sorry if my english is bad xD)

Ironically, unless I am not mistaken, the entire Mad Max franchise (With the exception of part one) is a story told in flashback. What makes it more interesting is that it is set in the future and it is a flashback of the past from a future perspective of people who Max saved.

It is narrated through a notebook, from the perspective of the author,
who is dead. So technically it is a flashback movie although it doesn't
seem that way since the narrator is different from who's actually
reading it. Also, the ending is a "pure" flashback through the eyes of
      Daisy.

I have watched most of the the film on this list except Cityzen Kane, Notebook. I think Rashomon deserved its spot because its retold the same story four times from four different people and show that the same story can be distorted to make the teller a better person. Other films might be better as s whole but Rashomon greatly utilized flashback and show that how much truth can be distorted from person to person.

Christmas Story wasn't a flashback, it was just narrated by Ralphie's thoughts. He wasn't looking back at the events.

He's kind of a mixed bag for me. He did make Billy Elliott and The Hours...but then he made The Reader and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. So I don't know how it will result in the end.

Ok, on the whole it seems we need to realize that there were movies made before say 1990. . . . very good movies that would easily trounce some of the tripe on this list (The Notebook? Titanic?? Forest Gump????) . . . how about Brief Encounter . . . or Sunset Boulevard . . . or Laurence of Arabia . . . or Doctor Zhivago . . . just to name a few.

"Shining Through" didn't make the list?!? Only a brilliant movie that is one long flashback as Melanie Griffith's character Linda Voss is interviewed about her experiences as an intelligence operative in WW2 with occasional flashes back to the present.
One point that always stuck out to me was Voss' being interrupted during her interview when she starts describing the past in German, because that was the language she remembered it in. If you fellas at WatchMojo have never watched it you should - And put it somewhere in the top 10.
