How is The Notebook higher than Titanic?
it was voted online, do not react when you did not vote.
You asked how.. you now know how.. ☺
i think its because leo didn't win an oscar.
+Samuel Reyes It's ok he has one now and that's all that matters
Idk.....
The notebook is lazy rip off of titanic really
Years back I wrote to Gloria Stuart and not only did she sign something for me but she wrote me a a letter back. Classy woman. RIP
Thank you WatchMojo for bringing this category that needed to brought up!
Does anyone else think The Green Mile should have at least been an honorable mention?
That movie was better than half the others on the list, it had one of the safest endings a movie has ever had
+CaptainFifa saddest*
Yes
Was so shocked to see it was not on the list
why!!!!!
Titanic at 10? That's rediculous
What's ridiculous is that spelling
+Quinn Ahmed Sorry, no rewards for grammer/spelling police. No respect either. You must be Gerald from How High before he found the weed.
Titanic on the list? That's ridiculous!
I agree. It's a terrible film. It shouldn't be here.
its a wonderful movie, you understand nothing.
Am I the only one who thinks Titanic should be higher?
I know right ! They have The Notebook higher than titanic which makes no sense
honestly aside from looking at a big fancy ship I don't see what's so special about Titanic.
Nah
@@gerdtt79 Well, it has a deep message of life (life is a gift, make each day count and live it, as it was your last AND even the unthinkable can happen) and is supposed to tell us what happened that night. The movie shows us, not only the tragic side of the ship, but also the happy side and what the people thought of the ship back then. I think "Titanic" is connecting us to the passengers and the ship in a way, so that we feel what they felt back in 1912. (I´m sorry if my english is bad xD)
Yeah, I just answered to a 4 years old comment...
Overrated movie
Missing from the list are The Green Mile, Stand By Me, & Sunset Blvd
I think Stand By Me should have been mentioned
true
Love that movie
stand by me? of doraemon?
+Hassan Rizwan you're not serious are you?
+Hassan Rizwan The Stephen King adaptation.
Pretty surprised Interview with a Vampire wasn't on here. It's easily one of my top 10 favourite flashback movies, number one in the vampire sub-genre XD
Saving Private Ryan only #7? BULLSHIT!
should be number 1
Preston Northey I know right!
I was expecting it in at least the top three
+Preston Northey Agreed.
Citizen Kane deserves the top spot
AWW COME ON. Titanic should be #1, that's my favorite flashback movie
it isnt opinion based, its based on rotton tomatoes i think (this is a guess, ok)
There's no way The Notebook has a higher RT score than Amadeus.
+Ethan Brant Amadeus is a good movie though.
Magu the Mango Amadeus is a great movie. The Notebook is not.
I know
I was expecting Green Mile to be on here somewhere. It's a good movie.
Where the Hell is Deadpool!!??
+Cinematic Top 10 why
because only half the movie is actualy a flashback.
+Cinematic Top 10 deadpool is a good movie. I respect your opinion tho
+Cinematic Top 10 troll
Less than half the movie is told in flashback.
There are so many good films told in flashback. Two of my favourites are Fried Green Tomatos, and Its a Wonderful Life.
Love the new beginning!!!
I love Titanic
is the best movie
everyone loves titanic
I didn't at first, but now it's one of my favorites.
me too
You have shitty taste in movies!
Fight Club gets an HONOURABLE MENTION!!??!?!?!?!?!?!? This list needs serious help.
Go vote on their website next time
Love "Titanic" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel", plus really impressed to see "Citizen Kane" in the top spot.
Other honorable mentions "The Phantom of the Opera" (2004), "Letter from an Unknown Woman" from Max Ophuls.
Great list
Was Shawshank Redemption told through flashbacks?
Yes, it was almost entirely, in fact.
Yes, you can hear that red is the narrator
Forrest Gump wasn't a flash back, he was telling a story
If the movie isn't set in real time and is talked about in the past tense, then it is a Flashback.
Ya he's telling a story and their using flashbacks to show the story...
most of the characters are telling a story example titanic, notebook, usual suspects.
if what you hear is visualised and it is part of it's plot it is I fact a flashback
How the hell is Saving Private Ryan #7, One of the best movies ever made, and i can keep watching it over and over again!
Titanic should have been #1 and Slumdog Millionaire should have been higher and where are The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge
Get the fuck out if you think Titanic was the greatest fucking movie ever made. It's not.
+Pfannkuchesindgeil You're right it's not the greatest movie ever made, it is just the greatest movie with flashbacks ever made.
I love Titanic, why is it number 10?
*****
Fucking bitch! Stop saying '"Same" to every fucking comment! You have no fucking shit to dispute and you need to shut the fuck up!
What about the Sandlot movies?
How is Momento not even an honorable mention? That movie's story telling is a work of art in itself
Wow you have the notebook and slum dog millionaire but no Amadeus ? Jesus !
Where's Stand By Me and Phantom of the opera?
Stand By Me should've been an honorable mention at least!
The 1st half of It's a Wonderful Life is a magnificent flashback telling (before Clarence drops in the water and then is saved by George Bailey).
While watching this video I thought Citizen Kane wouldn't be on this list. But I'm glad it was number 1. I'm 17 and Citizen Kane is one of my favourite, if not my favourite movies ever made.
A movie that should have at least gotten a mention: A League of Their Own
legend says if you post a comment on a Watch Mojo vid in less than 10 minutes Watch Mojo will reply
Fuck no
Nope
Bish wah
Ironically, unless I am not mistaken, the entire Mad Max franchise (With the exception of part one) is a story told in flashback. What makes it more interesting is that it is set in the future and it is a flashback of the past from a future perspective of people who Max saved.
'Mad Max 2' (The Road Warrior) and 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' are flashback movies. Something uncommon for any franchise to have multiple installments in a film series to be.
4:15 That was the first time I've ever seen that scene of a soldier getting blown to bits. Really fucked up.
Agreed. But I have seen a movie where a soldier lost his head from a cannon ball.
What the fuck was up with that though? Why did he just suicide bomb that tank?
If you watch the movie "Fury," towards the beginning you can see the remains of a human face inside the tank, it's really fucking gross
+Vernon Parker if you watch the film, they are making sticky bombs for the tank and that soldier lit the fuse too early and so his bomb exploded before he could stick it to the tank
Dan Ainsley I know, but it was still fucked up,dude should have waited

hobbit
Damn watchmojo got it going on with the the languages lmao
do Watchmojo in Italian
I think that the three movies that stand out in terms of great flashbacks are "Titanic," "Citizen Kane," and "Rashomon." They definitely impressed me very well.
How the fuck do you like Citizen Kane and Titanic?! That's like liking chocolate cake and eating shit.
+Pfannkuchesindgeil didn't you learn anything?
What the hell do you mean by that? Really? Do YOU have a fucking nerve to tell me that?
+Robert Polanco. I would have said saving private Ryan really stands out
I am sorry but I never saw "Saving Private Ryan." But I should include that as well.
Another cool video
What about "The strange life of Benjamin Button"? It is such a good movie played with Brad Pitt..... I don't know for you but I really think it should have been here!! If you never watched it, I higly recommend it!
"The curious life of Benjamin Button"
Sorry my mistake...
It's actually the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
I don't remember any flashbacks in that movie
It is narrated through a notebook, from the perspective of the author,
who is dead. So technically it is a flashback movie although it doesn't
seem that way since the narrator is different from who's actually
reading it. Also, the ending is a "pure" flashback through the eyes of
Daisy.
Isax3n I'm mad Deadpool wasn't on here, and don't tell me there was no flashbacks in that movie, because atleast 70% of it is.
I'm so glad you can leave voice messages as comments now!!!
My opinion below:
▶ 🔘──────── 00:17
you ain't fooling anyone bitch
+the fan umm so does that make me the 1%?
Ihconic sadly yes...
Damn it. Why did I click on it? XD
+the fan so is they fooled tow ppl out of four them 2 got fooled u n me didn't
Rashomon and citizen kane are two masterpieces, I expected seppuku and memento to be here.
Mildred Pierce, Murder My Sweet, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Sunset Blvd, I wish you'd show some older movies more often.
Yaaaaaaassssss
Double Indemnity is a good one too.
Yes,instead of the notebook or slumdog millionaire
You could always vote.
How about Stand By Me?
WHERE WAS IRON MAN 3
Lol good joke
truuu
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that's a hilarious joke
I'm sure you didn't even watch those movie 😂
i dont get it
I have watched most of the the film on this list except Cityzen Kane, Notebook. I think Rashomon deserved its spot because its retold the same story four times from four different people and show that the same story can be distorted to make the teller a better person. Other films might be better as s whole but Rashomon greatly utilized flashback and show that how much truth can be distorted from person to person.
While not eligible for this video, Casablanca has the best single flashback sequence in film history.
Where is The Hobbit...?
I wanna know too
The Hobbit sucks
Jodie Nguyen I happen to think it's a great film trilogy
clicked only because of Titanic in the movie.
Hey WatchMojo, yall should do a top "10 CZcams Channels With The Most Videos" video and yall would be on the list lol.
Can you do top ten movies that utilize flashback? Like, movies who are like half flashback and half in present times?
I love Forrest Gump, such a sweet movie
And a sad one too
Ugh I know right? The music alone almost makes me tear up when I hear it >.
+SeniorB Ikr >_
Stand by me should be Atleast mentioned
'Easily one of the most popular movies to use this technique' - I know what we'll do then place it at number 10 👏🏼👏🏼 the logic tho
Right after the opening scene in spectre when bond flies away in the helicopter one of the sun glares is or looks like a smiley 🙂
Memento nowhere in sight?? GOT to be kidding
I believe MEMENTO was told backward (from end to beginning) not in flashback.
you can see where I'd have trouble then lol two very similar devices, feels like a flashback
How the lord of the rings trilogy isnt here at all?
not any flashbacks dude
i ment the hobbit xD sorry
the whole trilogy is in flashback
+Eero L. True
+Eero L. No, it isn't.
It might not have been one of the most memorable Disney animated classics of these past years, but Brother Bear should have been mentioned: all the story is told in flashback by the older brother of the main character Kenai, Denai, many years after the event narrated in the film.
Stand by me was a masterpiece of flashback story-telling
Double Indemnity is better than most of these.
Also, Sunset Boulevard (another Wilder film)
I agree.
Deadpool?
Has lots of Flashbacks in it, but the main story isn't in the past...
+RayhenLP It...Is. All but about 30 minutes are in the past.
Corporal Porpoise But just the plain origin story. Imagine the movie without the present. No colossus and the appretice, no end fight, no blind lady (except one short scene), his girlfriend wouldnt be kidnapped... the last scene would be when he kills the agent Smith (or is that after the kidnapp?)
RayhenLP The majority of the film is flashback.
rly deadpool... habe you even seen good movies or are you 11 :D
I never quite understood how Private Ryan can recall in a flashback all of that when he wasn't there in the flashback for most of it until those final few battles
My pick would be A League of Their Own
I was just going to mention this. Several films on the list went back and forth from the past to the present, but A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN starts in the present, then goes back to the past for the majority of the movie, until it returns to the present for the finale.
Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it I ALWAYS put it on if I see it while channel surfing..RIP Garry Marshall💓
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is in flashback too, but these are good movies, even though I havent seen half of them.
Very surprised The Green Mile isn't on here as WM has mentioned it many times in their vids. That's one of the greatest film stories ever told.
Stand By Me, surely worth an honourable mention...
What about the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey or such. Btw very interesting list.
Titanic, notebook, and forest gump are one of the best movies ever!
Good list. Didn't vote, but would have liked to see Vanilla Sky at least get an honorable mention.
I am disappointed that Cinema Paradiso didn't get even an honorable mention. Such a beautiful film about friendship, love and movies.
I like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and I love FORREST GUMP and the honorable mentions of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, BIG FISH, and FIGHT CLUB!
Commenting before watching. Sandlot better be on here
Lol, I love Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish. They are wonderful movies and one movie that is told in flashback is a movie called Christopher and His Kind.
I know that its not a movie but imo you should have mentioned about true detective :) Btw please make something about it!
not sure if it would qualify but I consider American Beauty a flashback and one of my favorite movies
And now I know where Nickelodeon got the reference for that vacuum scene in Rocko's Modern Life.
Also, where's A Christmas Story?
Christmas Story wasn't a flashback, it was just narrated by Ralphie's thoughts. He wasn't looking back at the events.
Can u do top 10 tv shows shown in flashbacks
I was hoping to see The Green Mile on here. Such a great movie...
I've never seen The Notebook but it sounds like it's specifically set up to make you cry your eyes out >.
Do Top 10 musicals that deserve its own movie like Wicked, Hamilton, Love Never Dies, Turn Off the Dark (The only time I took Spider-Man seriously), American Idiot.
They're actually making a Wicked musical!
+Cassandra Colmenares I've heard about that...with Stephen Daldry directing.
+supermariofan03 Based on your response that seems bad. I know nothing about directors so I wouldn't know.
He's kind of a mixed bag for me. He did make Billy Elliott and The Hours...but then he made The Reader and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. So I don't know how it will result in the end.
Catch me if can was one my favorite movies of all time.

What about Johnny Dangerously?
what about a Christmas story
Cloud Atlas?
Brayden Wolf Christmas story wasn't flashback movie just story told with narration.it has to start and end in present with flashback throughout middle of film. Like the hangover.
What about the cureas case of bengmin buten
I knew that that was going to be the number one.
Was hoping for at least an honorable mention for "A League of Their Own"
Titanic will always be MY #1 of this kind of Top 10 list.
I WILL ALWAYS BE A TITANIC FAN AND I THINK TITANIC SHOULD BE #1 AND LIFE OF PI #2 I LOVED BOTH MOVIES AND WATCHED EVERY SINGLE TITANIC
You sound so fucking ridiculous.
+Pfannkuchesindgeil okay seriously are you here to just hate on everything?
it's Sooo true I love Titanic too
the other titanic ruined everything
You must be completely insane if you think Titanic and Life of Pi deserve to be higher than Rashomon and Citizen Kane, COMPLETELY insane.
Ok, on the whole it seems we need to realize that there were movies made before say 1990. . . . very good movies that would easily trounce some of the tripe on this list (The Notebook? Titanic?? Forest Gump????) . . . how about Brief Encounter . . . or Sunset Boulevard . . . or Laurence of Arabia . . . or Doctor Zhivago . . . just to name a few.
Surprised 'Stand by me' didn't even make the honorable mentions? Good list anyway except for that.
What about Just married and Stand by me?
I can't decide whether memento should be on this list. Every scene is a flash back, but the story is then told backwards. Is it a flash back film? what do you think ?
Good category choice. What about Goodfellas and Shawshank?
I haven't seen anyone mention The Green Mile!! I like this list but I wish that movie would have at least gotten an honorable mention!
grave of the fireflies? even though it's a cartoon, at least an honorable mention
"Shining Through" didn't make the list?!? Only a brilliant movie that is one long flashback as Melanie Griffith's character Linda Voss is interviewed about her experiences as an intelligence operative in WW2 with occasional flashes back to the present.
One point that always stuck out to me was Voss' being interrupted during her interview when she starts describing the past in German, because that was the language she remembered it in. If you fellas at WatchMojo have never watched it you should - And put it somewhere in the top 10.
I was waiting for more nicholas sparks movies, like best of me
They totally missed STAND BY ME, one of the best movies of all time! That was entirely told in flashback by a famous author who was writing about his childhood. That should have not only been on this list, but set at #1! WM, you're really slipping.
Stand by me should have at least been an honorable mention at least that is my all time favorite movie and the entire thing is a giant flashback
I really can't believe "The Prestige" didn't make it into the top ten.
The notebook better be here.
