93 year-old Clara Cannucciari is isn't as fazed as most when it comes to the current economic crisis. As Michelle Miller reports, she survived The Great Depression and now her cooking tips are a hit.
She is not rude. Anyone who thinks so should actually watch her videos. She was actually a very charming elderly lady and I was addicted to her video from the start. She has her own sense of humor, and despite coming from a time before most of her viewers even THOUGHT about being born, she is very easy to connect to. Probably because she is 100% no-nonsense, while at the same time retaining a lovable personality. Not like the half ass shit my generation is cursed to have. Rip Clara. I wish I had caught her before she passed to let her know how much I appreciate her videos.
Clara was probably annoyed with the news lady cause she mispronounced her last name and dropped her food on the floor after she told her to not touch it.
Clara took me through a very hard time in my life. I was earning about 200/week that I had to use for rent, food transportation, tampons etc....Food was the last thing on my mind, I thought I had no budget for food and was banking on the extra fat in my body to cover that. That's until I saw Clara's depression cooking. The poor man feasting was on!
maclaireful You always buy food first! You have to eat, have a place to live, clothing and get to work. The FOUR WALLS should always be taken care of first.
Well I definitely relate. An American living in Taiwan but we have all the same ingredients. I watched different kinds cooking shows that way one day if I actually have a kitchen I can cook. I don't know if I cook well but all the meals are prepared everybody seems to like
When ever my mind needs to unwind, I watch a few videos of Clara and I'm good. I am pretty sure I've seen all of them but I watch them again and again.
@@debrawilliams7983 hi, Clara's seen and been through so much in her life over so many decades, I wonder what she would think of that...modern technology 💗💗💗 She would probably love it.
I came to see Clara's vids after almost 2 years, and I get this lady? "Not so mild-mannered"? Really? When the reporter dropped the garlic, she almost stabbed herself in the face. She seems so out-of-place in a kitchen, and she seems so out-of-touch with Clara. Sorry, Michelle, you ruined this.
Just discovered her channel so sorry she passed I love her she is so humble kind and funny how I would have loved to spend a day with her all the stories she could have told about the depression
MY son's grandmother from his father's side lived through the depression and she siad she can remember when all you had for breakfast was a biscuit, a cup of coffee, and a hard boiled egg. She would eat the biscuit with the coffee and go to school and take her egg with her. when they had recess, she would run and hide behind a bush and peel that egg and eat it real fast. LOL! Sometimes they were allowed sugar in their coffee, if they had any.
I miss Clara - her videos were such a hoot! She reminds me of my mom - they didn't walk on eggshells for anyone, not even the priest ... I keep hoping hat there are extra videos that her grandson will eventually upload - more hidden recipes - but we can still watch her, americas favorite Grandma!
Clara is great - she comes from an era when people had some better values (in many ways). Yes, we are BIG WHINERS nowadays, even with the hard times that have come upon us all globally. We could learn a lot from the frugality of the Depression era survivors! I'm glad she's on the internet. Yay Clara! :-)
Hi from El Paso, Texas. Thank God for your smart grandson Christopher, I also video my MIL and daughter cooking, I want her to be able to share the memories and recipies with her own children, and so on.
So cool & nice see something never heard before….. pure pleasure to watch I’m grow up on cCommunism days 1982 at Europe I’m can understand her perfectly
ohhhhhh beautiful Nona...we miss you....so very much...and I didn't even know you. If I did I probably would have followed you around, like a puppy, morning to night...yeap...I know me.
My great grandmother who I loved dearly was just like her. Very fiesty & if you should not ask her opinion if you didn't want an honest answer. Standing four feet tall people feared her when she was mad. lol When she passed though there was a line around the block of people wanting to pay their respect to such an ornery, hard working, bluntly honest lady. She wasn't being rude at all. I love her honesty & we all are spoiled compared to what she went through. Look at all the whining on here?
I've had to make poorman meals many of times. As a single parent it makes you stronger because you have to be both parents. I love these CZcams Videos because her recipes are simple, healthy and can save many people lives if there was to be another economic depression. Her wisdom, knowledge and lifetime experience of life is in inspiration and an encouragement. Thank you for sharing these CZcams Videos.
I was a stay home mom most of the years my kids were young. These days though we never see that as 'enough' Although a little break from kids and all that is nice--I still have to admit I really preferred to be home. I did lots to save $ including washing diapers, and we heated with wood sometimes. Gotta admit though--Clara's right--we were quite the whiners --and I don't think the newer ones have a clue what's in store for them. But they will manage.
That's a fine way to start! Hahaha! She rocks! And for those of you who think she is rude, think this: Call it privilege of her age. She's straightforward and that is something you don't see in these "politically correct" times. IMO she is not rude, she just says what she thinks and that is fine. Don't like my opinion Sue me!
@DKMontoya4670 You'll be glad to know there are still some moms who stay at home with their kids! I do and I do the cooking, cleaning and managing of the home! I also pass on these cooking, cleaning and management abilities to my four boys!! :) My motto is "I will create marriable material!" From one getting older woman in Colorado! :)
Sweet Clara. Idk how many times I've watched her CZcams videos, but I don't think I'm stopping anytime soon! 🤣 She was truly an angel on Earth, and whenever I start to miss my grandma, I just put on some Clara bc they're so much alike, it's kind of scary! In a good way though. 😋
@onestupidman This is what is great about new media. You don't need millions of dollars and a studio; just good content, honesty, and love what you do.
Those dishes us Italian people still cook up to now it’s a food we are used too and very nutrition even now, I cook those dish every week beans lentils chickpea potato pasta sauce eggplant garlic and oil pasta , broccoli etc this is our food and we never change this menu our children follow them as well lot soups in winter such minestrone ,chicken beef soup RIp Clara
I disagree partially with DKMontoya4670. I'm a mom of a 21 yr old and I stayed home with my son only a few years but enjoyed it all - cooking all our meals, using cloth diapers because they were less expensive and we had our own washer. I would have loved to stay home for many more years but went back to work. I agree - this recession can help us all focus on what's really important and learning patience again in making a home cooked meal.
@DKMontoya4670 I stayed home with my kids, but it wasn't easy and with the tax structure today it's been made more difficult, plus if you make that choice in todays day and age you will probably face some lonely times, because not to many make that choice. There are even times when other women would look down on my choice. My kids all turned out well though, they never got into trouble.
"No, I don't want any" and that's why she's 94. She knows when to refuse food that's not needed unlike those that are over-weight. Caloric restriction is the only proven way to extend life!
Agreed. Most working mothers/wives work because they must help their husbands support the family economically. However, there are plenty of married professional women with pre-school aged children who could stay home and take care of them and the home, but choose to work any way. In these cases I wonder if their careers, material possessions, status, etc. matter more to them than their children.
@openhonest Please. Rude is when you call the interviewer a bitch, not when you do a gentle scolding over garlic. I used to get worse than that for accidentally spilling soda.
I feel so... weak :P i mean sure my parent didn't hire someone to take care of me and i can cook for my family, but i am nothing compared to her, she survived the depression for god sake, while i'm here whining about having too much homework. I need to really start appreciating the things i have :)
I always watch Clara when I'm missing my na na. Except my na na had a cigarette in her mouth when cooking over a pot with a long ash that sometimes fell off into the sauce.
"I don't want any" lol She probably had had enough of it when she went through the depression! besides the news lady dropped some of it on the floor...Clara's smarter then that to want to eat it after it's been dropped on the floor! Lol
@applefanAidyn not sure who you are or how old ... but would you be polite to a reporter if you were 93 years old ?!?!? ... plz take a steep back and look at your self :D
@DKMontoya4670 Excuse me! It's not that we would rather have "others raise" our children... The FACT IS we have NO CHOICE!! If you want your family to have even the basic necessities of life, usually BOTH husband and wife need to be working... Believe me, we would rather be at home with our children but in this day and age this is something we no longer can afford to do! Sorry Clara, I hope I don't sound like I am whining ;-)
@openhonest I can't believe people are insulting you for saying that. You are absolutely right, she is rude. NOTHING excuses you from insulting another person, not even if you're 94.
'Not so mild mannered' what? She was brilliant and she had manners! Unlike the writers at the news channel..
I'm thinking about a good username . . Agree!!!!
News reporters are kinda pushy

Clara was probably annoyed with the news lady cause she mispronounced her last name and dropped her food on the floor after she told her to not touch it.
not only that she offered her a plate when CLARA told her to have some, the woman didn't try it. PISSED ME OFF
