- In this episode I check off a lifelong dream of visiting the Hill. as a bonus there and a race event at the same time! Vintage and modern Cars and bikes, trikes and sidecars duke it out for top honors on the course that Sterling Moss once said had the most difficult corner in all of racing.

I was there one year and a Spitfire flew over, turned round and did a display, when he finished he waggled his wings and flew off, presumably to Staverton airport, where I have seen a Spitfire hanging about. On one occasion I was at the pumps refueling the helicopter and a fellow in white overalls walks over to the hanger and a few minuets later out comes the Spitfire, taxies and takes off, the whole airport came to a standstill and stared at this magnificent sight and sound. The great thing at that level of motorsport is you can get close to the cars and talk to the drivers.
We bought our cottage because it's virtually at the end of the runway where a few Spitfires refuels during the display season. We were outside our workshop one day working on one of our race bikes seen a privately owned Spitfire over flew our cottage. We were standing on top of the garden wall, jumping up and down waving our arms in the air like mad things. The pilot chose to do several low, 100ft passes over us! He waggled his wings and flew off to his destination. Marvellous!!!
Nicely shot. In August the Vintage Sports Car Club are there with their 100+ year old monsters. 27 Litres and no front brakes!

The main VSCC meeting at Prescott is 3rd & 4th August (on the traditional pre-war short course). There's also the VSCC Long Course meeting on 28th September.
best motor racing venue in the country, for me. These are slow relatively to national hillclimb contenders, be there when they making sub 40 secs its fantastic!
I'm definitely tempted to run my replica Norton Domiracer Lowboy here. It looks like so much fun 🙂

I went to a school a few miles from here, and probably went to Prescott a dozen times at various weekends. Absolutely loved it. That was fifty years ago. Happy days! BTW, I never once saw bikes there.
Me too! During the seventies I cycled up from Bishops Cleeve in rain, sun and sometimes snow to see my heroes like Chris Cramer and Roy Lane. The joy of Prescott is that I was able to talk to people like Raymond Baxter and Denis Jenkinson, who ran an old motorcycle with great verve.
Raymond Baxter, wow! I can hear his impeccable voice now from so many science and aviation programmes of the 60s and early 70s. I never knew he was a motorcyclist. I have memories of Joy Rainey, who was literally only about three feet tall, hoofing a big straight eight Alfa Romeo 8C around the track. She held the women's course record for a number of years, and died fairly recently.

What, though, was the one that looked like a frame with a motor and seat? I think I heard v8 chevy? And lol, what was your time up the hill at the end? loved the sounds! On the wide angle shots, on my iPad, I zoomed and panned with my finger, pretty effective! Cheers!
They called it a Sand Rail and it has a Chevy 6.5L v8. Didn’t look like it should corner well (long wheel base) but handled well enough and squirted between corners. Thanks for watching!
@@2Upon2Wheels Sand rails were a californian thing,for drag racing on the sand. Interesting to see one turn up there.
It sort of makes Lime Rock seem tame.
Usually the venue is very busy with spectators. Why was that event so quiet ?
Been to a few events here this year.... Very few spectators at all of them. The place is like a ghost town
Weather has been unpredictable, that doesn't help.
The VSCC short course weekend in mid summer is rammed.

Crashed version looked like an old pram that's been thrown down some council flat steps,🤣 my mate fixes all that old junk, I laugh how much the goofballs pay for it. He's just done a body for a Mille Milglia (or whatever its called) "thing" shipped from Italy so he could make the buck for the body...they have no fkn clue it was done in a single car garage here in the UK, 🤣Yorkshire reality😂
