As a Christian who studies the Quran, I found this very helpful and practical. I try to do a lot of comparison to understand. Your comments were very charitable and fair-minded. Sometimes I hear very strong negative opinions about certain translations, and often not much explanation, so it’s helpful to hear from you on the topic. I started out reading the Quran through the first time with Yusuf Ali. Now I really prefer the Clear Quran especially for the headings and its footnotes. But I find it’s helpful to compare with Hilali-Khan for expanded explanations embedded in the translation, and Saheeh International for the opposite tendency of minimalism and more literal translation. Some you mentioned I had not known so it will be good to look at more.
Muhammad Maulana Ali's translation really helped me to understand the Divine Laws of the Holy Qur'an.

Muhammad Asad's translation was practically life-changing for me. After I became Muslim I didn't know there were so many different translations. The Quran I had was good but, looking back, the translation was a bit off sometimes. Knowing that Asad was a convert who translated the Quran in a style that was appealing to me really opened my eyes to the different "flavours" of translations out there.
Somehow, Muhammad Asad's translation has a unique feeling and i'm quite attached to Quran because of this. Salam Ramadhan. ❤

I in Sweden have three Qurans. One is an old translation of Zettersteen, the other is The message of Quran (In Swedish "Koranens budskap") and very newly The Quran in arabic one one side and Swedish on the other side. tranlated by Dr Qanita Sadiqa, and revided by Kamal Yousuf supported by Ahmadiyyacongregations members in Dubai, Sharja and Ajman. I follow your program almost every day, I like your approach and your knowlegde. However I am not a Muslim. Hope You will ,have a wonderfiul Eid-ad Fitr, the breaking of the fast.
Allama Yusuf Ali was an Indian Muslim, not a convert. He was a member of the Indian Civil Service in British India.

I would always recommend Muhammad Asad s translation. At least he learnt a dialect of classical Arabic, which is a key requirement for translating the Qur'an. Dr Shabbir is not quite accurate, Asad's translation relies heavily on Imam zamakshari and imam Razi and also Imam Tabari. On fiqh issues he clearly rejects abrogation of the Qur'an.
