Border towns such as Laredo, El Paso, and McAllen generate about a 3rd of their retail revenue from Mexican shoppers. The local economies in border towns comprise a large amount of cross border trade. The industrial real estate sectors are almost 100% based on cross border trade. Also, according to the state department, about 1.6 million US expats live in Mexico either part-time or full-time. Many of those US expats are retires and they are mostly white. So we are not talking about Hispanic Americans that followed their parents because their parents were deported.
