I like your music. She is really great. With love, with all my heart from russia...I am against war and I really want peace in this world now, right now, at this moment, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do against it, except to create music and make the world a better place...R.I.P Jimmy Hendryx. Music - is the greatest creation of mankind and I believe that it is able to turn it around for the better. Peace for everyone.
I really like Otis' music but had never heard his version of the classic Hey Joe. What a find - thanks so much for posting it. Mesmerizing, haunting and blistering, a phenomenal rendition.
Check out Otis at the Kitchener Blues Festival. If you can believe it, it's an even better version. Anne Harris violin and Taylor Scott guitar are phenomenal. And it ends great! Check it out.
There are waters inside a soul that are deep... it takes something powerful to get energy down that deep to stir them up... well... this song just did that!
Sometimes a band finds a groove and the music goes to another level. This happens often with Otis Taylor. Just think, some are watching Honey Boo Boo or the like and some of us are enjoying Otis, Annie and All. I am glad to be here.
The best Hey Joe I have heard yet . There is something so special about this man's voice and the rock fiddle is better than good . This is something you spend money on .
Stephen Dunaway - I respect your opinion, but to compare this too Jimi Hendrix (both in terms of that cat’s guitar playing & his voice) is quite frankly ...... *P R E P O S T E R O U S !!!*
goddamn Otis everytime i listen to this version of hey Joe i fall in love with it all over again-i dont care what anybody says your version is soulful perfection-theres the best and then theres the rest-your version is the best no if ands or buts.
I love it! And I am not easy to please on that song. I saw Jimi play it live with only a drummer and a bass player. I love your addition of the violin. And honestly, I didn't miss the line about killing his old lady. That was a disturbing line to accompany great music. Excellent!
When I first started listening to this, I thought the guitar lead was "underdone." But, the more I listened to this....I finally saw that his solo is magic and extremely well performed. I was stupid for some reason. I love that bass player and his 40-mile march!!!! So beautiful.
I'm one of those people that doesn't believe thing's until I've seen it now I've seen that a violin or fiddle could be incorporated into a song like this beautifully
Bass and drums for me, and I'm a guitarist. They are just locked together, absolutely mesmerising. Love this whole version though, must be the best I've ever heard.
Enjoy hearing the different versions and takes on HEY JOE. Seems all great artists have this song in their line up. I use to sing it on karaoke night at the local bar Deep voice required.
I keep returning to this video when I feel like listening to some great instrumentals and lyric. This is one of my favorite Otis Taylor songs and I am in love with Anne Harris' skill, passion, and energy... she is amazing! Bravo to the entire group... this is an awesome band group of performers.
Nobody else tells this story more perfectly, not even Jimi! Short text - no criminal on the run would babble around as much as in the other versions - wonderfully authentically performed by Otis, and the musicians let you experience the feelings and emotions of the partner murderer through their instruments. Outstanding!!
My Landgenoten are lucky indeed, when they had a chance to listen to this music. I'm in Love. I thought I had heard most. Flashback to those days in the baking sun, disappearing into the wind. My cousin, from Rotterdam, who gives a good damn, has heard Mr. Otis Taylor. Thank you from a wrinkle in cold damn Idaho, music wise. We do Have The U of I Jazz festival, which is an oasis in these arid lands. Sweet music this, wow.
Great version of this. My favorite Hendrix song. But nobody will ever replace Jimi❤ because Jimi was not of this world. Then he was called back at such a young age to the star from whence he came. RIP beloved soul.
I listen to this particular recording when I just want to hear the best. The entire band are incredible with particular kudos to Jon Paul Johnson and Ann Harris.
It's Taylor's unique translation, his lead man's guitar, the clear metronomic drums and then the violin...unforgettable, pulls you out of whichever hole you've tried to crawl into for whatever pain to hide....

Listening to Ann Harris play gives me cold chills!
Beautiful version, and I'm a Hendrix worshipper. This is more subdued, more sad, even more haunting than the original. LOVE the violin.

Magic. Violine and your voice gives me tears. So Beautiful.
That guitar solo is the sweetest Hey Joe's solo I've ever heard.

marino4691 Shawn Starski, a blues guitarist. :)
That's Jon Paul Johnson on lead guitar.
I love this man's vocal tone and the feeling in his voice and the violin is so haunting..fantastic band..

I love it! And I am not easy to please on that song. I saw Jimi play it live with only a drummer and a bass player. I love your addition of the violin. And honestly, I didn't miss the line about killing his old lady. That was a disturbing line to accompany great music. Excellent!

Otis Taylor band - not forgetting Anne Harris - absolutely superb, this combo track can never be surpassed.
I've heard a lot of versions of this Billy Roberts classic, but none quite like this, her violin added a whole new take, I think it's great!
Best Ever Mr.Taylor and Co.
Brilliant filming and editing. Never seen better. Plus another remarkable performance by a remarkable band.
Great music! Takes a lot of courage to cover this song. Damn, I love that violin too! Really fills it out nicely and adds a cool element.
