Yep, massive crush on Susanna Hoffs. I loved her look in that red dress when they're all dolled up and dancing like Egyptians too (and she's barefoot...oh man). Now I find out she recorded her parts naked? Really? Good grief. Probably a good thing I didn't know that back in my mid/late teenage years.

Very few pop bands do much for me, but The Bangles had so much fun you couldn't help but like them.
Also, they were about the same age as me, in the 1980s, so it felt quite satisfying to see young women from my generation do so well for themselves.
As a fun fact, the bassist for The Bangles during their heyday, Michael "MIcki" Steele, had also been the bassist for The Runaways.
The Runaways paved the way for The Bangles and many other female rockers.

Thanks to my seventh grade art teacher, wherever she is. That's where I learned that pyramids were painted with images of food and game and all the things the pharoah would need in the afterworld...including servants. All those paintings, they believed, would come to life...and a servant with just one arm and one leg couldn't serve well at all, right? That's the reason for the pose. Thank you, ancient Egyptian artist, for making this song possible!

The 80's had badass 'hit the drums HARD' drumming, and Bangles on Hazy shade of winter is the very definition of that. And they are smart enough to let her stop drumming when they want to go softer, cause sh'es a real 80's drummer so when she's drumming its full force, period. Aah, the ultimate 80's band, the utimate 80's sound.

The Bangles were seriously under-rated! Loved this song, and Manic Monday (by Prince), and especially their official video cover of Hazy Shade of Winter by Paul Simon. Reportedly, Simon didn't like the cover but I think it's fire. It looks like a live performance with video clips from a movie whose title I can't remember. The guitar riff is the same as the Simon and Garfunkel version, but kicked up several notches! Also Dust Angels was a terrific song!

The Bangles, of course, were more than Hoffs but the record company wanted the “hot chick” at the front. This pretty much broke up a band that had multiple talented singers singing. As several of the Bs said, doing the S&G cover, the Hazy Shade of Winter, which is one of the best covers even in my opinion, was like going back to the old days of the band because they al sang.

What I have always loved about this song, is it about how silly cliques are while being so catchy that people in cliques love the song and don't even realize what they are singing.

I am still in lust with Suzanna Hoffs.
FYI, I had a friend who used to sling cocktails. She could navigate the packed bar, and dance floor with a tray of drinks. Once, in pure astonishment, I asked how she did it. She said that the trick is to NEVER look at the tray, just feel the balance of it.

Suzanna Hoffs (guitar, vocals) was, and still is one of the most beautiful women in rock music!

I would love for you to react to John Farnham and Anthony Warlow singing Grenada.

Girl group had a large amount of success in the Eighties. I believe Susanna Hoffs was managed by her mother. Ms. Hoffs is still around.

If you want Happy, check out Sara Niemietz's Cover of "PW Happy". She is a very upbeat performer and multi talented (she arranged, sang, played, videoed, edited, etc everything for this video)

There was about a month or two back then when for any reason or no reason at all, people all across the country would break into random flash mobs walking like Egyptians. It was a genuine phenomenon and a great time to be alive. 😊❤

Only someone not alive in the 80s could ever describe it as "easy going without worry".

The '80s were an awesome decade for music.
Billboard's Number One Hits had on average, 9 Number One Hits per year.
The year I graduated high school, 1987, had 30 Number One Hits!
    Greatest decade ever! 😎
