  • This tiered Aztec temple board is extremely playable and modular. The combination of both major types of gaming terrain (corner ruins, platforms and bridges) gives us a ton of flexibility. Spraypaint and a drybrush drastically increase the speed and quality of the finished paintjob.
The plastic terrain kits were supplied to me by Archon Studio as review stock. Elements of their Kazumi Temple Rampart and Dungeons & Lasers lines were used in this build. archon-studio.com/shop/ (most of 3 core boxes of kazumi temple and part of 1 core set of dungeons & lasers)
If you like this video, you may also like a recent video from Guerilla Miniature Games about spraypainting Warhammer 40k terrain • How I painted a whole ... I watched this for confidence right before I started spraying!
The minis shown in this video are from Relicblade- I'm almost ready to play! :-) relicblade.com/

Love it. One plus of using spraycans is that they do really well with 3D prints. I've noticed they cover layer lines a bit better, and makes spot drybrushing look even better because of the variety and random patterns.

Nice to see people encouraging terrain builds - and simple ones. It's not hard to get a pretty good looking table, but terrain is so often the ignored "third army". It is going to deliver 80% of your aesthetic appeal to your game...and sooooo many people skimp on it. You don't need to be doing intricate, difficult, scratch-built stuff. It's much easier to get a cohesive good looking table than many people think.

Tamiya tip. Put a big wad of sticky tack on the bottom of the pot and press it down on your work surface so you can't accidently knock it over. The extra thin and extra thin quick dry are so thin you will lose most of a pot if it gets tipped on accident. I learned the hard way.

I really like this. Playability is really important, and it seems like it's something that gets forgotten a lot. Some of my favorite terrain is really playable. The game of Five Parsecs from Home that i am running as a group rpg/adventure game uses an assortment of fully complete, undamaged buildings that were 3D printed, made by Corvus Terrain. what makes these great is that unlike a lot of solid buildings, you can lift the roof and actually play inside of the buildings too. I like adding random items inside of the buildings for the players at my table to encourage exploration. Great terrain really makes a game so much more engaging.

Nice change of pace, to see a video on quick and nice terrain painting.
I think it's very tempting to go crazy with the fine details of glyphs and patterns, but playing terrain should not distract too much from the miniatures, I think. Painting some details to make individual pieces of these ruins stick out (like one small building that got wild patterns all over the walls) is good to highlight that building and it gets too "busy" visually, when everything looks like that.
I mean, it's anyone's choice, but I prefer terrain pieces to not distract too much from the miniatures. It's also nice that it sorta cuts down on the workload ;)
