  • www.motorbeam.com gives motorcyclists 10 reasons not to buy Royal Enfield bikes. One of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in series production it might be but Royal Enfield bikes have a ton of issues which people don't talk about.
Royal Enfield's most popular bike is the Classic 350 which sells more than the Bajaj Pulsar series in spite of costing close to Rs. 1.5 lakhs. There is no direct rival to the Royal Enfield Classic but the recent launch of UM Renegade has given prospective buyers an alternative.

Surprisingly, many RE owners are under the impression that waiting periods are long because every motorcycle is hand-made. I agree to a large part that their production process is more labour intensive but long waiting periods are intentional to give customers a feeling of being rewarded rather than being robbed of time and money!

When I was in High School (1968 California, USA) I saw a Royal Enfield 750 Interceptor twin in the local motorcycle shop for sale. $750.00 US. I was 17 years old, and it was the most beautiful machine I had ever seen ! Years later I bought a Norton 850 Interstate because of the image that Enfield had left in my mind . . . . . love / hate relationship ! Yet the memories I have will last the rest of my life. So I have a "soft spot" for the Royal Enfield. Do NOT intend to buy one ! ! ! Take Care !

A Great video BUT most importantly you ATTACH a SIDECAR to your Royal Enfield BIKE,
      -
instead of mounting heavy luggage on your bike and please avoid heavy saddle boxes/bags..
Please attach a SIDECAR to your bike where you can store a lot of stuff and not only that you can also take rest on the way..
Please promote attach of SIDECARS to your Bikes, which is very popular among bike tourers - explorers in the world.

Top 10 Reasons Why People buy Royal Enfield =
    1. Majority of the Men are Not Fit, they are Fat, and hence cannot sit comfortably on any other bike except Royal Enfield and Bajaj Avenger, this explains the sales numbers
    2. Royal Enfield keeps Low Production on purpose so the impression of High Demand is created which makes people think it is selling like hot cakes or a lot of people are in line to buy it, all of this is false, its just a marketing strategy
    3. People think since it is made of metal it will last longer and will be more durable, what these idiots dont know is that this cheap metal will rust faster and will make the bike so heavy that it will be difficult to lift it if it falls on you, quite recently a biker died due to getting stuck under his Royal Enfield and unable to lift it to get away while it caught fire spontaneously
    4. People think Royal Enfield is an Indian Brand and display the Prestige of India, what they dont know is that Royal Enfield was never an Indian Brand, it was a British brand and was bought by Eicher in 1993
    5. People think the noise from the Royal Enfield exhast, The Thump makes them feel Royal and makes others think it is a Luxurious and Costly Bike, it is a Costly Bike but in no way a Luxurious Bike, such people should wait for Husqvarna to come to India, that is when they will realize how an Exhast should sound like
    6. People like to carry their whole family on a two wheeler, the husband rides the enfield, his wife sits behind him and his two children sit between the husband and the wife, they have made a Bike a functional People Carrier, who needs a car ?
    7. Doodhwalas used to ride on Enfields, hence, all men in their fortys and fiftys remember an Enfield being around way before a Bajaj or Honda or Yamaha or Suzuki giving an impression of Heritage, which is actually lack of knowledge
    8. Banks give loans for buying a Royal Enfield, they should stop this malpractice
    9. In Villages only the Sarpanch used to ride a Royal Enfield and the common man used to ride a Hero, this makes people think owning a Royal Enfield is a Status Quo and Prestigious, what they fail to realize is that the Sarpanch had enough money waste lakhs of rupees on a junk bike but the common man was smart enough to get the same performance in 1/4th the cost
    10. People think Royal Enfield treats India as their primary market and values their Indian Customers due to the loyal and blind fan following, what they dont realize or choose to ignore is that Royal Enfield is releasing their bikes with all latest technologies and advancements in Europe, Britain and US but continue to sell outdated bikes in India and treat it as a third grade market, Royal Enfield bikes sold internationally get ABS, Disc Brakes and even better quality components

RE has got vibrations, the parts don't have older quality, vibrations etc ... but for me I have rode many bikes, but none of it gives me the happiness and feel of riding an RE. Yes there are vibrations, but thats how it is.. You either love it or hate it.. for me I love it and I ride nearly 90 kilometers daily. Exactly. The complaints about REs go something like this: "RE's have a ton of problems! The tech is too old and simple! Buy this girlish superhero sewing machine instead!"
You mean if I ride something I love, I will have to fix it and maintain it? Oh noes!
The technology on an RE is incredibly simple. If you can't figure out what's wrong with it, you either aren't trying or you are afraid of doing the work. This describes the motorcyclist in the USA today: an entitled jackass who can't do any of his own work and tries to solve every problem by throwing money at it.
Judging by this video, Indians are becoming more like Americans every day. That's not a compliment, and it will only get worse. If you can't fix your own motorcycles, just wait until you all have cars.

I'm very impressed with the bike and these problems except for the heavy weight (almost 220kg with full tank) have been nullified by RE. As a 1999 bullet owner i will agree with most of the points in this video , i would like the newer models to have a fuel gauge and it will be enough, as far as the petrol station stunt in the video it was uncalled for and quite stupid to be honest. These bikes were not designed now, so they were not meant to be ridden past 100 kmph and vibrations are something which can be sorted out with some mods easily. Come on it is not a freaking sports bike which you are meant to be cornering in.The rusting can be prevented with a little time to time polishing and not giving the bike a wash every month . Yep you are correct about the power to weight ratio it is quite low. Come on though it takes a bit of common sense to put on center stand they have even given a handle to help you . Any thing which is not well maintained will go bad over time ,my 18 year old bike will start in 2 kicks it depends on you , how you maintain it . Yep i love tinkering around during the weekend with the carburettor myself , to be honest most people buy these to feel the thump and i agree that the after market silencers are too loud and will affect the engine and its mileage. And yep people telling that real men ride bullets is too ridiculous. I don't think you are true automobile enthusiastic if you degrade a particular bike and compare it to others. Everybody is entitled to their opinion though and this is mine .

People supporting re let me ask you something
What do you need in bike?
    Safety -
To stop a heavy motorcycle you need good brakes, re 350 or 500 doesn't even have back disk brakes,
ABS - those who don't know about this life saving safety feature must google it and understand what the term is and re does not have it.
Comfort - I have gone for ride from Bangalore to Mysore, i rode both bullet and avenger i found the seating position and handlebars position more comfy on the avenger than bullet, Cruising at more than 80kmph the vibration kick in, it is very terrible. Avenger is far better. And the pillion rider was very exhausted due to the vibration on the bullet.
Speed- okay you don't want speed, go for a splendor.
Technology - nothing, no fuel gauge, no side stand warning, no trip meter. Even a splendor have a fuel gauge. And im not comparing slpendor with re, just saying.
Just say why(please don't say pride. Its not so special, any one can buy it).

I have a royal Enfield classic 500cc from last 4 years and done 20k+.
Many points in this video are not correct as of my experience with royal Enfield bike . Let me correct those points :-
1- RE 500cc doesn't vibrate at 80kmph not even at 100kmph after 110km it viberates and it become scary to ride at high speed due to not so good breaks. But it has its own thrill , I have done 130kmph on bike thrice on empty roads and 80kmph to 100kmph is easy to ride all day long on highways.
2- handing is very good. You can't compare RE with sport bikes because RE is tourer bike.
3- RE has lots of power
4- weight of this bike is very heavy (200 kg) but this bike is very comfortable in city and traffic conditions and even you can easily put RE on main stand if you know how to do it.
5- this bike is very reliable , I haven't face a single problem with my bike engine till now.
6- yes load sound is not a good thing but RE doesn't has very load sound if you haven't changed your silencer . It has thump which I love the most and even many sports bikes have thump.
7- RE has very good acceleration.
IN THIS VIDEO MANY POINTS ARE TOLD " BHADHA CHADHA KR" .
Now let me tell you the real problem with RE as compare to other bikes :-
1- if you love speed .. RE is not for you.. this bike is good upto 100kmph on highways above that your life is on risk because RE BREAKS ARE NOT SO GOOD TO STOP IT SUDDENLY. No abs .
2- chrome part easily get rusted if you will not care.
3- clutch wire can break. (Three times it happens with me)
4- No tubeless tyre (but can have tubeless tyre aftermarket)
5- little problems can comes over the time (like meter problem , fuel warning light problem , plough problem) .
6- Pataka - few people may be love pataka in bullet but pataka is not cool , according to me pataka is annoying.
BUT THIS BIKES ALSO HAVE FEW THINGS WHICH MANY BIKES LACK SUCH AS :-
    1- Sound 💝 .
2- Famous , every person know bullet even senior citizens.
3- attention :- because it very popular bike in India and people notice it and in villages area having a bullet is like owning hayabusa in Cites.
4- rough and tough :- all metal no plastic.
    5- made for every road.
6- you can ride RE all day long.
7- you will not dare to ride RE at high speed every time. So it will be safe.
8- leg guards :- if you fall at low speed it will safe for your legs and your bike due to leg guards.
9- royal Enfield groups :- you can join royal Enfield group in your city and enjoy sunday ride.
10- you can easily modify you bike according to your budget.
11 - royal Enfield organize many trips like laddakh , you can join them.
12 - accessories at every shop.
Many more things I like about this bike but the best I like is :-
13- PICKUP - ( 500CC HAS VERY GOOD PICKUP ) When you accelerate high that sound and pickup gives you superbike feeling.
(All my experience was about my RE classic 500cc bike, I can't say anything about 350cc or Thunderbird or interceptor or gt)

Im a classic 500 owner, and i bought it only out of pure love for Bullet, Have felt many time Royal Enfield is not loyal to their customers by not improving any standards of the bike in years, the metal rusts very fast in south indian conditions and owners have to take extra precautions, damn vibrations made me change handles, no proper fuel management system, RE hasnt focused even on solving such simple problems. Its not 1999, the customers deserve quality bikes, RE sure is the pride of India and that should be shown by building quality product, not by selling cheap machines and providing shit service

its a 1954 design. royal enfield went bankrupt not long after they designed it. enfild india took over production but they only build them and have not got anyone capable of redesigning it. But they have tried newer better engines but customers didnt like them and chose to keep the original design. U can choose which engine u want even an elctic start version. So no point listing the fauts as ur only taking about 1 version of the bullet which is the original version. If u dont like it then get a newer updated version. bare in mind the RE bikes r built by hand not machines so they take a bit longer to make. the fuel tanks r hammered into shape by hand as r most of the metal parts.
Ive had a few old brit bikes. none had fuel gauges on them and i never had probs runing out of fuel. Most didnt even have a key to start them. u just had to turn a switch and kick start and away u went.

The RE Interceptor 650 is selling well in the UK. As a modern reinterpretation of the classic twin it seems to work well. I wouldn't buy an older RE as they are basically a 1950s design with all the limitations that led to the decline of the British motorcycle Industry. My admiration for RE India is that they kept going at all, but time catches up with everything eventually.

Went out to work the next day. while on the WEH (western express highway, mumbai), I suddenly hear banging sounds from the rear of the car. 1st i thought something was wrong with my brand new car. nah! i looked in the rear view mirror and an enfield was trying desperate to overtake me from the left in a slow lane. i came down from 40kmph to 20kmph to allow that irritating sound to get ahead n get lost. But all that thud thud wasn't getting the motorcycle anywhere so instead i just accelerated to 60kmph and lost it.

i am 18 years old, my mama gifted me his re standard 350 when i was 16 i drove it 1.5 year .. when i saw my freinds riding those fast ktm bikes and thought of getting myself one ... i bought pulsar rs200(budget issues) drove it 6 month and its maintance was literally killing me.. (my freinds planned a bike trip of 150 km in the valley of uttrakhand through the mountains of mussorie i was so excited and to show off my new faster bike .. it all started of real good i was going through corners like anything , and when we got into those bad roads me back started paining , hands were paining..and i some how finished that trip i was so exhausted i couldn't explain.. and RE driving freinds were so happy they weren't tired they had better shock absorbers, soffter seats they went through bad roads so easily ... )when i bought my new bike i gave that old bullet to mama(mothers brother) back.. now i own a bullet 350 std. and rs200 and i literally love bullet more than that cosmetic bike rs200 .. when i go out on that royal bike (RE) people notice you with respect .. that thumping sound is royal in every sense .. i face no problem with bullet it just goes on regular maintance which cost me around 1300 rupees .. all over bullet is a all over package you buy a bullet now and its forever thing my grandsons will also rider the same bullet..

Not anybody can ride royal Enfield it's proud to use this brand motorcycle which is part of Indian Army. It requires patience to ride it and moreover has longer engine life. The vibration is it's best part without which one cannot enjoy a bullet ride. Royal Enfield is the top selling 350 cc segment bike and most of them including myself love it for it's heavy metal appeal.

hahaha...u nailed it bro!! Did u just realised that a lot of RE lovers will start unfollowing u...but...The truth has been spoken... RE's are grandpa bikes and not even near to the technology that other bikes offer.. with KTM, Benelli, Bajaj and upcoming BMW these bikes don't make sense to young riders atleast. but I'm still surprised by the way RE manages to get its sales chart always flying high!!

SATHYA MANIKANTA it is not a bike brother!!!! It's an heaven. The only disadvantage is it vibrates a lot. But that is the bike's character. And there won't be fuel gauge. So when you're bike comes to reserve you have to fill the tank. Keeping you're bike on main is always best. Reserve tank is 2litres so keep it always about that. No other problems with that. Enjoy the beast.
