Saddened to hear it closed. Always a favorite place to eat when visiting the area.
i have eaten there my self the food was excellent! i hope that they bring that back somehow
Been almost 5 years, so are they reopening soon?
Thats too bad..nice place.
The crab cake was actually decent. Will the restaurant return when the construction is completed?
No. The original plan was to enlarge the island to accommodate the tunnel construction, but it was going to be too expensive. So they rebid without the enlargement, which meant there would be no room for the Originals. It would have to be demolished. It sounded like they were planning to open a new restaurant on the north shore, but there's been no update about that idea on their Facebook page for years. So I doubt it will happen.
@@GregAckerson Virginia (VDOT) has more traffic signals per non-interstate highway-mile than any state in the country. (And VDOT doesn’t have to build massive Cadillac interchanges such as Route 28 near Dulles airport when a Chevy grade separation will do.) Route 13 in VA (unlike Route 13 in neighboring MD and DE) is flat out un-driveable (sic). You can’t go two feet on U.S. 13 in VA without hitting a red light. It’s a shame because Route 13 from Norfolk to Phila. and N.Y. cuts off a lot of distance. You’d think that VA as a blue state would understand that all the stopping, idling, and going again at traffic lights is bad for air and energy conservation.
What a loss smh
