instead of a pop-up maybe a lil' fillet of mussel on the hair? There are so many in my area. One can grab one off the shore where you are fishing. you have inspired me, going to definitely try this out.
I'm only a very occasional carp angler, prefering chub and barbel from rivers and tench from lakes etc... i would like to catch a river carp though. I really enjoy watching your videos and seeing/hearing your thought process etc... it obviously works 👍👍👍 Have you done a video which shows/describes your river carp rigs attall??? I think I'll definitely be practicing what you preach in some of my own regular fishing . Thanks 👍👍👍
Hi mate, glad you found the channel 😊 I’m a big fan of river carping, I’m lucky that there’s no closed season here in France so I expect I’ll be out again sometime in April, flow permitting. I’ve done a full video on my campaign on the river that will give you a lot of insights I hope: czcams.com/video/d7TJuAt5hkk/video.html. I’ve also done a quick rig overview here: czcams.com/users/shortsCh032Nsihcc?feature=share. There will be a full how-to on this rig out in a couple of months 😊 Hope that helps and enjoy the journey!
Matthew a beautiful carp - No wonder you were smiling so much 👍👍Many thanks for all of the tips and information - Best wishes and good fishing. Kind regards Clay
Hi Matt, interesting video. Its important to remember power of naturals especially now that so many anglers use boilies. The venue I fish in the most is an old gravel pit full of mussels. I found it really effective to gather some of them and cut them into pieces. I throw some into the mix and use nash claw cracker mesh to form a tightly packed ball out of them to use as hookbait. I mount it onto a hair and use a pellet stopper to secure it. I managed to trick a lot of carps that have never seen the bank using this strategy. Thank you for your videos. I hope some day I will be able to visit you in France.
I know they worked spot on but if your using two differnt flavs id be thinking which one done the bizz or was it the mix of the two if u know what i mean..im abit of a cheap skate so id prefer too use one if i can get away with it lol...but some lovely fish.all the same..😊
Great vid Matt. I've eaten salt-baked carp in the Czech Rep. over 30 years ago, is it a thing in France? I can't remember ever seeing it offered on menus or even spoken about in French households. Carp used to be a great source of protein for people for hundreds of years. (of course it has to be purged in fresh clean water for a couple of days)
I mate, I use the Nash twisters when I'm using supple braid such as Armourlink but I use the chod twisters when I’m using heavy 0.50 mono. I use a lot of the Nash heavy duty snag leader as a hooklink for my public water fishing and when I need to step it up to 0.60 I prefer the chod claw as it has a larger eye 👍
@@matthewcollinsangler I do love a good pike/ predator but for me carp are the best thing to Grace this planet . I'm only 16 so I'm a bit like you were and fishing for anything
My river campaign lasted about a month and yes, you're right, we did quite a few different videos out of it, it's a reflection of the changes I've made into my fishing 😊

Ah right cool, yes I can see that would work well, nice 👍 Hope that you get the chance to visit us one day. Cheers, Matt.
I'm gonna save this video. My membership water has zebra mussels so this could be the mix to use. Nice one Matt ! 😁
Cool mate, that can be a nice little edge 👍
One problem with mussels is they are one of my favourite foods so I'll be munching on it myself lol
Haha, it's very tempting!
Hahah you no it mate

No, I've never seen it on offer here but I've heard about that tradition in Poland.
Hi Matthew, what made you change from twisters to chod hooks?
Kinda susy move by matthew🤔 maybe they are sharper ?

Random question: do you ever fish for pike/perch or Zander or do you mainly focus on carp
Hi mate, when I was a boy, I fished for everything but these days, only carp 😊
