Oh yeah. I was in Dublin for 4 weeks. Bloody traffic in the rush hour. And some streets in/out the city are always packed. Normally the Dublin Fire Brigade would need 4 to 5 minutes max. depending on location and if the nearest station is available at that specific moment. But even if a team from further away responded to this fire it should be only like 6-8 minutes max to arrive on the scene. We have here a waiting time of 13 minutes until the team arrived on the scene. I hear the sirens at first around 9:50. You need to focus and ignore the other sounds but you can hear it. And from that to the point there was on scene alone was another 2 minutes. I can estimate how far away they were but my guess is maybe 300 meters max. And I think the main reason for this is this Renault truck. He stopped right there because I believe, he wanted to take this exit. As he saw he couldn't be stopped right there in the middle of the roundabout and no other cars could pass. Stupidity and egoism. Yes yes, I know. The car was long gone before that. But that could have been a serious incident or another large fire with people in buildings. And instead of 3 minutes, they need 13 minutes. This would have cost lives.
The fire brigade took a while to get there but to be fair, it could of been a retained station and it’s Dublin, so the traffic would of been total gridlock.
At the point where you're noticing smoke coming out of the engine or something, it's most likely too late, already. With the amounts of oil, fuel, plastic and some batteries in a car you'd have to notice a fire almost right the second it starts forming to successfully put it out with a fire extinguisher.

Lucan is on the outskirts of Dublin city, so it would be a longer response time there, also remember that it's quite possible the nearest station could have been out on a call and that engine came from one further away. It isn't always the nearest station that responds to a call, for that reason.
Trunk was open from the start. He likely might have had one but often enough I have seen they usually can't knock down a car fire unless you can get to the fire very early within the first few seconds of it starting.
Let's face some facts: - Burning cars are normally fucked. You won't get anything good out of them once they're on fire. - Heavy traffic might be an issue for a fire service. - They showed up at 11:40! Where did they come from? Galway? - Our volunteer fire fighters cover 27 sqkm and reach every spot within eight minutes. - If it takes a little longer get damned geared up while your peers are taking you to site.
According to the video, the firefighters took about 13 minutes to come. After max. 3 minutes from ignition, their presence is not worthy. Let it burn. Thus, there will be just pure and clean metal for scraping !
For all those complaining about response time , did any of you notice the rather heavy traffic in the area ? That tends to slow emergency vehicles to arrive at the scene .
Excuses, excuses. As can be seen here czcams.com/video/nK0KJ69M2zU/video.html, the Dublin FD doesn't exactly seem to be Speedy Gonzales of fire departments. If you live in Dublin, you are well advised not to play with matches too often.

I don't see what the issue is regarding the response time. From the start of this film, it's less than 12 minutes before the FB arrive. Assuming that a call was made near the start of the film (because we don't know), 12 minutes is NOT a bad time at all, given the time of day and the traffic weight. Other factors, like how far away is the fire station? are also important. Was the call made sometime after the video started? It seems like the wait is forever (pretty much everyone in need of a 999 service says the same). But effectively 10 minutes is bloody good going to throw a sodding great fire engine around the streets in traffic like that!! Depending on where the fire engine is, you could be on scene within 1 minute or XX minutes (How long is a bit of string?). The FB do not routinely patrol like police or ambulances; and would have to travel from a static base, which could be ANYWHERE from this incident. I have personally been on scene in 45 seconds of a radio call; pure luck, right place, right time.
