  • @Tom-Lahaye

Response is slow despite the heavy traffic, but once on site they have water on the fire within 20 seconds, not such things like hooking up to a fire hydrant, putting on gear etc. when arriving on site.
Nessecary PPE is put on by a couple of FF during the ride and internal water stores in connection with a high pressure hose saves precious time when attacking a fire and gives time to set up a water supply (often not needed for a small fire like this car, internal stores are sufficient)

Oh yeah. I was in Dublin for 4 weeks. Bloody traffic in the rush hour. And some streets in/out the city are always packed. Normally the Dublin Fire Brigade would need 4 to 5 minutes max. depending on location and if the nearest station is available at that specific moment. But even if a team from further away responded to this fire it should be only like 6-8 minutes max to arrive on the scene. We have here a waiting time of 13 minutes until the team arrived on the scene.
I hear the sirens at first around 9:50. You need to focus and ignore the other sounds but you can hear it. And from that to the point there was on scene alone was another 2 minutes. I can estimate how far away they were but my guess is maybe 300 meters max.
And I think the main reason for this is this Renault truck. He stopped right there because I believe, he wanted to take this exit. As he saw he couldn't be stopped right there in the middle of the roundabout and no other cars could pass.
    Stupidity and egoism.
Yes yes, I know. The car was long gone before that. But that could have been a serious incident or another large fire with people in buildings. And instead of 3 minutes, they need 13 minutes. This would have cost lives.

Lucan is on the outskirts of Dublin city, so it would be a longer response time there, also remember that it's quite possible the nearest station could have been out on a call and that engine came from one further away. It isn't always the nearest station that responds to a call, for that reason.

    - Burning cars are normally fucked. You won't get anything good out of them once they're on fire.
    - Heavy traffic might be an issue for a fire service.
    - They showed up at 11:40! Where did they come from? Galway?
    - Our volunteer fire fighters cover 27 sqkm and reach every spot within eight minutes.

Excuses, excuses. As can be seen here czcams.com/video/nK0KJ69M2zU/video.html, the Dublin FD doesn't exactly seem to be Speedy Gonzales of fire departments. No rain, no narrow roads, no heavy traffic (no traffic at all, by the looks of it) yet it took them at least 15 minutes to pitch up. By that time the fire had spread to a second car as well as the facade of a building. And just as in this clip, the cops were nowhere to be seen either. I don't see what the issue is regarding the response time. From the start of this film, it's less than 12 minutes before the FB arrive.
Assuming that a call was made near the start of the film (because we don't know), 12 minutes is NOT a bad time at all, given the time of day and the traffic weight. Other factors, like how far away is the fire station? are also important. Was the call made sometime after the video started?
It seems like the wait is forever (pretty much everyone in need of a 999 service says the same). But effectively 10 minutes is bloody good going to throw a sodding great fire engine around the streets in traffic like that!!
Depending on where the fire engine is, you could be on scene within 1 minute or XX minutes (How long is a bit of string?). The FB do not routinely patrol like police or ambulances; and would have to travel from a static base, which could be ANYWHERE from this incident.
I have personally been on scene in 45 seconds of a radio call; pure luck, right place, right time. But I have also had to "run" to calls at the other end of the ground, which even under a blue light can take however long it takes, bearing in mind road conditions, weight of traffic, weather, roadworks etc.
So quit sniping guys. How many of you moaning are actually emergency service workers AND response drivers?

Its crazy to take this long to get to a fire scene in todays world. Their dispatch system must be antiquated or there are not enough fire stations to cover the city proper. Once on scene they are great. Have watched several other videos about the same area and always a slow response

I would suggest that you're over speculating. You mention the possibility of antiquated dispatch systems or inadequate coverage of stations. What you failed to observe was the high volume of traffic using this road. It was also raining, which slows down traffic even further. You really need to look at the clues in the bigger picture!

    • @HeavyHanded
      @HeavyHanded Před 5 lety +4

Actually the fire service have a much nicer CAD system than most police/ambo services. Obviously varies via area. This response time is likely due to the heavy traffic in background, they are driving a truck not a motorbike.

@@greenpedal370 you're absolutely right and I didn't continue to make the point that in the USA that wouldn't be an unusual response time depending on a host of factors which include what you said about volley vs paid staff and the location of the fire station. My point, that ten or whatever minutes until the first until is on scene isn't bad at all and only seems like a long time when watching the video which seems to start close to the time the fire started. I should've gone further to say that the paramedic level care or at least BLS probably is adherent to a three minute response as in America the American heart association recommends for cardiac emergencies. (BLS in 3min/ALS-ACLS in 5min of arrest). Was also going to comment on how fast water was suppressing that fire (
