Why not try pulling away that Citroën that *isn't* burning yet? Yeah, makes sense, pull away the burning car, increase the area of the fire zone, and set another car on fire for the sake of protecting a car that's already a total loss …
Well, you put them in gear to make them not move, so you take them out of gear if you want to move them. To do that, you don't need to press the clutch as well. But you'd still need to hang through a broken window, since the door will probably not open. But, it's doable : break the windos, relieve the manual brake, take gear out of gear (if it ever was in gear).
Look at the situation when the fire first started and it was small instead of standing there watching it you could have saved the other two vehicles each side of the fire by putting the far side windows through then releasing the parking brake then push them out of the way. I'm sure that you wouldn't have gotten into trouble by the owners for breaking the windows if you have saved their vehicles from burning up. those vehicles could have been saved if you lot just used your heads quicker.
This video show why fire apparatus should have a place near the many beaches at this island. Enough working hand-held fire extinguisher at every public parcing place can helps too. Sure this costs money but it can helps in situations same this.
or creates more issues having a ton of people not trained to do so trying to put out a car fire with extinguishers can be very dangerous and who pays for all that equipment, the annual certification of it,and recharging of the units once they been used or misused

They were advised not to do it again and did this time with really bad results. The heat from a catalytic converter set the straw on fire, the fire department responded but were quite a ways off. When they arrived it was a containment fire for safety reasons. Some 30 cars were destroyed, damage in the low millions. Never held a festival again and no idea of the outcome insurance-wise or lawsuits filed.

nothing wrong with getting water on a fire as soon as possible but with certain fires that involve fuel, it is smarter to take the extra few seconds and connect to a main line like the "Americans". And have a water source that won't run out, most firetrucks carry 500 gallons (or less)and might night be enough. Give this a thought..use the water on hand and run out then spend time scrambling to connect to a hydrant vs. taking time to connect lines to a hydrant before you run out of water!! Yes ever fire is different and 500 gallons is more then enough but sometimes it isn't, don't think bad of American firefighters, they know how to deal with fires very well!
