Today we go back in time, almost 2 years, and try out this age old strategy to kill the Red Death, which was used to unlock at first MissingNo and later Red Death. Does it still work or not? Well, the title is a spoiler, but you might be surprised just how well it worked.

This is how I killed the reaper recently. I did it opposed to Corridor/Shroud because it was earlier in the game and I wanted mad groove
Thanks for doing this Dex... It's a blast to revisit some of the oldest strats with the new engine and combine with some of the new mechanics before the power creep appeared (Corridor, Shroud). Also, the strat is also viable without any arcanas, limit break and works on every platform (I just tested on my Switch a month ago)...
Lvl1 santa water still did 1,1 mil dmg😂😂😂
I had Game Killer and Mad groove... I killed the reaper on accident at minute 30 when mad groove activated and all the experience NUKED the reaper in one shot. Try it ! its awesome !!
This was such a cool video, I would love to see another one about the best games that created a whole new genre in the last decade or maybe couple of decades, like rogue likes/lites, bullet hells, farming (or any other simulators), or any other new genre you can think of.

@14:00 Bloodline Toastie with an early Laurel is a good medium for folks who want to do it that old very hard way but much more approachable.
Pretty fun with Legionnaire too.
I remember using this strategy over a year ago before the lancet and laurel evolution. Was way more satisfying doing it than the two evos.
It took me a day to unlock red death with clerici, but I never even got close to do it with toastie, the cooldown was just too bad. However, you made a guide back then how to mod in missingno again and thats how I got that guy
I first killed the reaper with Christine. With Laurel level 5, Empty Tome level 5, the cooldown power up and Silent Old Sanctuary with 3 max weapons she has so much cooldown reduction that she’s completely immune to damage even with 0 eggs. I don’t remember how long it took to kill but it was so long
I hadn’t even unlocked Shroud/Corridor and was playing without using any guides or resources so I didn’t even know it was possible to kill

Yo dex the thing that you didnt saw the runetracer bouncing is that it might bounced the same rate as your monitor refreshes so hence you can see it on your recording cuz it is recorded on slower rate.
Man that’s how I Unlocked death when the game first came out on Xbox. Feels old man lol
Beginning Arcana is great. Hilariously effective on certain characters. Great synergy with Gemini.
Currently favorite build with insane synergy and destruction:
Weapons (Evolve all): Any / Garlic / Laurel / Lancet / Water / Lightning
Passives: Any / Spinach / Tome / Duplicator / Attractorb / Pneumarola + Gold / Silver / Left / Right
Arcana: Any / Blood Astronomia / Tragic Princess

Regarding the bouncing not showing in your game during the second try:
I think the reason is the fps. Your game runs in 100fps while the video (and I assume also the recording) is at 60fps. What you saw ingame was a bit smoother, so you (almost) couldn't see the bouncing ingame.
And to anwer your question: I killed the Red Death with the Clerici method, just as in this video ^^
You should attempt one of your old gold record run strats and see what you can do to update/fit onto the new items and stuff! You know it's not really the same unless you use toastie though haha
Just did this a few weeks ago when I finally decided to finish the whole game finally.
Thanks for the vid, would this still work if it levels to 3? I always seem to get enemies above Clerci's head and they drop gems on her.

I downloaded the game on mobile lately and I tried to defeat death on dairy plant with leda. But It seems to be that the second chest has a lot of xp in it as well nowadays
As soon I pick it up I level up to lvl 3. Can you confirm that? I tried it 3 times, and every time the same problem

I leveled up till level 3, the projectile is a little bit smaller (210%) and moves very rapidly in a wider area while still managed to kill the reaper using knives, magic wand (add freezing effect from the arcana), laurel and clock lance...
before any of those weapons
I used Leda in Cappella Magna
with I think it was armor, soul eater, Bloody Tear,Gorgeous Moon
i think , la borra i think not sure if the flowers
but I was healing more than the reaper hits because the mini reapers that appeared healed and pushed the big reaper
took hours had to move looking for chickens
had laurel too forgot the most important
i'm new to this game and i just wanna know how you got that different level up menu, how u got reroll, skip and banish? Plus you said you lose the area bonus if you level up and you levelled up at the end anyway so what's the point?
play the game and do what youre told in the unlocks tab
I used the Clerici strategy, and it failed over and over again until I got lucky and got the Bone on level up.
is this a modded version of vampire survivors? i booted the game as recent as today, but i dont see the map items unless i open the map?
funny thing actually how i unlocked Red Death. i was watching your video to kill it with Leda? the ballsack. but i didnt have all the evolutions onlock. i did green forest because for me its an easy level and had all the items i need to evolve laurel and the clock and i manage to kill Red Death during my preparation run xD i dont have MissingNo but hearing he is official now makes me want to unlock him. i didnt want to tweak any files as thats how he used to be unlocked if i remember correctly

I tried the Clerici method a few times but couldn't keep the reapers locked in place forever so I went with Leda and got it second try, I got lucky with the stalkers (green reapers).

Sorry for a bit stupid question but how to win in 4th level? There is only infinite corridor, and you only can go up and down but arrow shows outside of available area
on the left side of the stage, there is a magic mirror that teleports you to the coffin. its further up from the bracer that also spawns on the stage
did it last night since I hadn't unlocked infinite corridors. you really don't need tome if you can take bones

I don't get these weird strategies. The moment I was able to evolve the lance I just stunlocked the reaper and killed it. I don't even remember what my other weapons were.
The reason why the weird strategies got used was because at the time they were mainly used, evolved lance and evolved laurel did not exist
I think it had switched from unlocking missingno when I tried and try I did. However I never succeeded. I think I'll give it another go though.
I have not killed death yet. Mainly because i have not been able to deal with all the extra curse from the ring snd arrow lol
I killed the reaper randomly on one of my "God runs", It was mostly me playing the game normally.
The vibrating is visible here, because the compression algorithm reduces the framerate. You have seen 60 bounces/sec assuming a framerate of 120hz, and our eyes can't percieve such fast motion. You propably saw just saw an almost still picture with the 2 positions of runtracer overlapping. It's the same effect as with rotating carwheels that are looking like rotaing backwards or even stand still when fillmed.

i killed him by mistake, was not able to see much on screen but turned out i killed 3 of them lol
Ive done this at lvl 125 with leveling. "Not leveling" just makes it easier.
Can confirm still works on Xbox at least on 2/3/24 or February 3rd 2024 not sure about PC and arcana and the gold box thing is not necessary I used the magic wand instead of victoris sword and in my opinion it killed him faster and thanks for the guide
Are rhe green witches mean the bonus 10 enemies per wave?
No, the green enemies deal no damage with the new Defang powerup.

16:05 the difference between what you saw and the recording was probably due to your game running at 100fps and you recording at 60fps.
I have been wondering for a little bit now if a Limit break would be possible with infinite corridor only
It is! Dex has done that video but it's not very good since it needs out of bounds to even work

I was never able to get this method to work, and it's been too long and too many updates for me to remember how I unlocked anything. XD
My current issue is that I cheese the Bloodline+Excalibur strategy a lot of the time, and I know that's nearly cheating.
Did he get nerfed I killed him at level 90 something?

I accidentally killed Red Death for the first time with Red Shrould and Infinite Corridor. I accidentally killed him again with Victory Sword when testing Sigma for fun :)
I got missingNO by trying to figure out what the Secret about Green Acres meant, I got discouraged and looked up how to run off the world.
I tried running off the world with Invincible Porta strategy, but after 100minutes and 70 RedDeaths I looked up how to run off the world. I tried a few times and then looked up Nutty's video on how to do it.
I tried killing Red Death with your Rune Tracer strategy after I saw that he one-shot me and I had no chance. I wanted to kill him to see if it could be done :)

I unlocked red death by accident
and misingno using commands
I think this strat got patched while I was trying it, so I ended up doing the Toasty strat in the end.
This video is 2hrs old. There is absolutely no way that they suddenly patch it out just after the upload when the method is over a year old.

You can negate XP gains by using relic card that turns XP into bombs at the beginning
Edit I saw you passed it up later so I tested why it worked for me with no issue
But how do you level up and get all the weapons later then o.O
@@DexTag chests still work and give 3 upgrades and the goals to not level up at all origanally so it helps u not step on xp on accident, just my take i just used on red death and worked for me, your ways great to just saying i did it that way cause i kept picking up xp on accident getting to level 15 without moving everytime i tried
must not work on mobile cause i cant get it and ive tried everythingggg the thing eventually bounces away
I unlocked missingN0 by copying Dex's save file since mine was corrupted because I got a power outage in the middle of my adventures messing with the game files LOL

The other way to kill death without the specific objects for that objective is to use the sigma queen, it is a little more entertaining than this way.

Somehow this strategy didn't work for me so I used Toasty.
I killed the reaper with cheating. Upped garlic damage before it was patched out and he died pretty quickly.
i killed reaper with clerici and leda. toasty i didn't even try.

What? It ends because the Red Death had died, there was no reason to continue after the very first kill as it already unlocks the char. But there is no reason to do this nowadays anymore
We have arcana now and golden eggs even the random guy can make this strategy even more interesting
