When your renovating with a small budget the reclamation yard is the best place to source so many different products and materials. As they say, one persons trash is the next persons treasure. Lesa could do a bit of her painting artistry on the posts, vines working their way up them. In dark on dark colours with some highlighting it could almost look like carving.

I'm so glad you found what you were looking for. What a great yard to reclaim and reuse. Looking forward to seeing apartment and where you're up too. Im battling Bronchial pneumonia after catching flu, been so ill and come home from hospital today, still at least another 4 weeks to fully recover it's been brutal. What a treat! You may be doing it out of necessity but I think your methods are right in keeping with those of the original builders of your chateau. You can have all the fancy tools in the world but there is no substitute for the creativity of the human mind of which you two have oodles.
I agree...over the years Ted and Leesa have shown us the things that were used to build it and there is nothing if not creativity. There may even be old Roman stones in there.

It was funny when you were at the reclamation yard and were looking at the picture they had on the wall of the fisherman and the little girl rowing a boat because I looked up and that exact painting is hung on my wall. I even called my husband in to show him. Pretty strange coincidence.

The reproduction print is the famous painting by Emile Renouf - "The Helping Hand". Unfortunately, the colors have faded quite a bit, but it's still a lovely image.

You need to reach out to art schools in Europe and offer to host artists/crafts young people....you need labor, tons of it....w/ a job reference after their internship. Only have them work 4 days a week. The reference & free place to stay has worked in US. Throw in the film shots of their work into a work video they can use later, would also be useful.

Those round posts for the bed could be decorated with wood burning... perhaps a vine with leaves and fruit or flowers... Lissa would love to try wood burning with a wood burning tool... then a lighter varnish or oil finish would hi light the creative free flowing wood burning decorations...

What camera do you use for your vlogs, could you maybe give us some suggestions? The lighting in the brocante is very low so difficult to get sharp footage, however, it seems to us that you are the only one who is struggling. This is reality not a TV show. Thanks for the comment though, albeit unconstructive.👍😂
