“So cute” is an understatement for that handle! And what a great modification for adding a cross body strap. And the cross body strap you made is what gives your bag a really high end look.

I think stapling the pieces together within the seam allowance especially by the curves could help keep them together. And the lining as well when you have to squish it in.

Love the video! Love your class in making the bag and keeping it real and entertaining. Can’t wait to make mine! Question though. What weight thread did you use on this? Tex 45 or 70?
Hi Maiyia! Thank you for circling out my video!
I used Tex 74
Hello Lola. Love your tutorials! I just wanted to know if the Alligator Aussie Vinyls should be interfaced for making handbags, and can this fabric be sewn on a semi industrial home machine. I have a Juki 2010 TL Q. Thanks, Teresa.
Hi Teresa! This specific vinyl was very stiff! I have used many other alligator embossed that were much easier to sew with, I would even say on a domestic. THIS ONE, I don't recommend. At least not on a pattern like this where the bag is so small; it's gonna be hard to get that final topstitch. Now, I have never owned nor sewn on a Juki, so I honestly can't speculate on whether it could handle it or not. But just know this specific vinyl is tough.
And thank you so much for checking out my tutorials. ❤️ This was the first one I ever made, so it was a little all over the place lol smh. They've gotten better😊
Love the bag and have had the pattern for years. I bought all the Swoon patterns when they had the bundle. I'm about to cut one out in vinyl but wanted to ask a couple of things. When you put the peltex in the pink one at the end, dd you glue it in before top stitching? Secondly have you considred working out how to do a drop in lining and add the flap as a separate piece live some of the Shamballa bags are done?
Hi! Thank you for checking out my channel! I actually have not don't it as a drop in, but that would certainly work! No, I don't use glue for the stabilizer for this bag because everything fits so snugly. I haven't thought of attaching the flap the Shamballa way because this way is easier & faster to me, but that way would work as well.
👏👏👏 parabéns, muito lindo 🥰
Thank you!
Great tutorial, do more 👍
Thank you! I'm trying!
ils sont trop beaux vos sacs merci pour la vidéo
Thanks! And thank you for watching!
Your bags are gorgeous!! I see on the pink one that you added the Peltex after you turned your bag (I think that's what you did). And the purple was interfaced per pattern? Do you have a preference? Thank you!!
Hi! Thanks for checking out my channel!
So, my favorite technique for this bag is to lay stabilizer on THE front and back panels and cover with interfacing. Fuse.
Interface the gusset.
Then add the gusset stabilizer after the bag is turned.
It gives me the feeling I'm looking for without making it so hard to turn the bag.
Happy sewing!
Love this bag, are u planning to do a lot of different bag patterns on your channel..
I am! As many as time allows.
Hi Lola just found you love your creations so much! Can I ask what industrial do you recommend? The more affordable the better. Thanks!
Hi Carolyn! Thank you so much for stopping by my channel!
Honestly, the machine I have is the first industrial I've owned, so I'm not quite qualified to recommend much lol. But, I did a lot of research before I purchased. Creative Bag Making on Facebook has A LOT of experienced bag makers that have given lots of suggestions, you should join that group and ask that exact same question. Also, you need to write down what you're looking for in a machine, because there are so many options. Jukie Junkies is another Facebook page where you can get a lot of information.
Good luck finding the machine of your dreams!
when attaching the gusset... try the center and then the two top corners and then ease everything else in between... you'll find it fits better. also better to clip the gusset not the panels.
Hello again. I just now watched the very end where you pushed stabilizer into the bag. It that going down to the bottom to stiffen the outer “floor?” Were you using peltex? Thank you again.
Hi! Yes, that was the gusset stabilizer to give structure. Sometimes I will put 2, depending on how stiff I want it to be.
Nice to meet you. I'm here by way of Brandy Jackson. You didn't disappoint either. I would have never picked this bag to make. The stock photo says no for me but you made it cute and fun. My only constructive criticism is the music is a little loud in some areas where you're talking. But I do love the music choice. I'd rather dance personally. Can you do a tutorial on the pink handbag hardware? That looks more my speed. Welcome on in and stay awhile!
Welcome and thanks for joining! Thank you for the feedback. I agree. This was the first video I've ever recorded and first time ever editing, so I definitely still have some kinks to work out. It'll only get better😊
I'll try to get around to making another style bag using the hardware from the pink one (I got those from Bringberry by the way). Thanks again for watching! Shout out to Brandy!
Great tutorial. Love the vinyl. Where did you get it?
Thank you!
In the description box under the tutorial there is a link for all my materials, including the vinyl.
Is the vinyl you used domestic machine friendly? I love the chain you added on the strap, too.
Thank you! It depends on the machine, but it is a tough, think, stiff vinyl... I don't think my domestic could have, too be honest, not on this particular bag anyway, because of the small opening for that final topstitch.
Great video. Could also make the gussets longer on each end, and then trim the gusset where the tops meet on main panel.
Thank you! Yes, that'd work too. I'm a lazy prepper, & didn't feel like cutting out another pattern piece, so I just decreased my SA on the gusset to 1/4" instead of 1/2" and it worked out perfectly!
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like & subscribe🙏🏽❤
I am going to make my second Mabel with you sitting beside me through every step! Just one question: did you lengthen the handle a bit? The one I made doesn't seem to go from seam to seam of the flap and still make that nice curved shape. Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching!
And you're right. I did lengthen the handle. I think I did 12 inches, but I'm not sure right off the top of my head. I did put the length in the video.
Happy sewing!
I wasn't interested in making the Mabel till I've seen your video now let me get the pattern before it's not free anymore, lol
Lolol Right! You know how we be "yesterday's price is not today's price!" Lolol
Lovely bag . Did you modify the pattern ? If yes what modification did you made?
Thanks! I modified the handle.
Great video. I see you use an industrial machine. Do you think it could be made on a domestic machine?
I do, depending on the fabric you choose and what domestic you have. I sew all my vinyl bags on my domestic up until I recently got my industrial.
Beautiful work. Can I ask how you got customers to buy your bags? How much do you charge for this bag? Thank you.
Lol I guess they buy them because they like how they look? Feel free to browse my bags & their prices on my website www.luvlolalooks.com

You mention your. Lining is wrong side out when placing main body inside - to be clear...your lining is right side out. Where do you get your hardware? Which sewing machine are you using please? Love this cute bag. .
Nope. To be very clear, the lining is wrong side facing out. The bag exterior is right side facing out.
If you don't do it that way, you'll end up with the wrong side showing on your finished bag.

@@thulizondi4044 No worries!
And thank you!❤
Can you add a small pocket to the lining just wondering?
Of course! Modify to your liking.
I just made this bag. Was really tough on my hands and my machine couldn't handle the top stitching along the back (where the flap is). Any suggestions on that? I also will wait until the end to add my stabilizer next time!
Hi Ann. Thanks for watching! Hmm. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble. Something I like to do when I feel like the thickness is too much for a machine is rivet! You can omit the entire topstitching process by adding rivets in a decorative manner along where you would have topstitched. Maybe spread them about 1" apart?
Just an idea.
Happy sewing!
One more question sorry? Can you add the stabilizer before you sew it together would that be easier or is it to stiff to do it that way? Thank you for making this tutorial I have had this pattern for about a year but was afraid to try with no video love your tutorial and time stamps thank you!
Yes, I've done it that way before too. The best combination, in my opinion, is to add the stabilizer to the main panels in the beginning, under the interfacing; it gives a better stiffness
/structure.
Then wait until you've turned out the bag to place the gusset stabilizer. It makes it easier for turn out purposes.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
How did you secure the stabiliser to the gussets please?
Is your machine the Thor 1341? I just got my yesterday!!
Yassssssss!!!! That's my baby! You are going to love it! It's a beast. I'm just getting started sewing leather on it and it goes through like butter.
