In conversation with Maxim Vergeichik, the nature economist on Tiger Landscapes Investment Fund

The Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference held in Paro early this week under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty The Gyaltsun concluded with a launch of a commitment to mobilise one billion US dollars for the conservation of tigers and their tiger landscapes over the next 10 years.
This commitment marks a watershed moment in the global tiger conservation efforts. But achieving this one billion-dollar goal would entail introducing innovative financing solutions. At the conference, UNDP presented one such fund called the Tiger Landscapes Investment Fund.
Our reporter Samten Dolkar caught up with Maxim Vergeichick, Senior Nature Economist with UNDP’s Nature Hub to talk about what this fund is about and how it is different from the other conservation funds.
