    Hello Eric
    I'm little over 50 , will retire from my career in two years. Owned many types of cars the past.
    I agree with you 100% about the porches comments because years ago my wife and I used to own a 911 CS4 for 3 years.
    At this moment we have 07 tundra 5.7l, 16 es350, 18 NX300, 07 rx350, last but not least a pretty 23 GR86 6 AT.
    I did my break in oil change at 1000 miles. I did not see any RTV in the old dirty oil. When wife wasn't home I took the car for quick pulled up to 135. This little sport car is very stable/ solid.
    I will install hawk break pads and drill and slots front rotars. Will get my mechanic to use a stucco scope/ little camera scope to look into oil pick up tube.
    Then have track day. Will be going to Lime Rock CT in April.
    My wife and I love to drive to this little sport car. Most of it average at 27 mpg, very happy with the car.
    Enjoyed your video, thanks bro keep driving. Have a happy holiday.

      I did my break in oil change at 900 miles and the dirty oil also did not have any rtv. Before you track it I would recommend dropping the oil pan as that is really the only way to look into the oil pickup tube.
      Thank you for watching and I hope your GR86 is rtv free.

    Great video, does the Gr86 come with blind spot monitoring?

    The RTV issue steered me away from the GR86. Reminds me of the Yamaha YFZ 450 when we had to do mods to eliminate the oil starvation issues. Similar situation. I guess only time will tell after more real world reviees come out in the future

      @@CruiseControl1 Beautiful car though. Looks like a lot of fun. I might change my mind if I can't find an A91 Supra or GR Corolla Circuit Edition. The markups are stupid.

      The Supra is a lot of fun, I have driven the automatic but not the new manual.
      The GR Corolla is really cool and I would really like a chance at driving one.

    That's the most rtv buildup I've seen. Could you tell us your build-date? It's on the white placard on the driver's side door jamb.

    So I take you don not recommend this car due to oil starvation that will affect its long term reliability???

      Actually it appears that the aftermarket has options to improve oil starvation, look at the research and development that is being done here. Link youtube.com/@900brz?si=zQ8kRb8oFzZCEmjM

    I own a 2023 gr86 with about 8200 miles at the moment and it runs great I do drive it every day for Doordash and ect. And it still runs great even though I've beat it up a few a few times. I never dropped oil pan yet but I'm going to this next oil change. I know there with be rtv but I hope it's not alot. I have done 2 oil changes one at 3300 and one at about 7300. I plan on dropping that oil pan next time I get a oil change I'm going to get at about 11.5k miles. My gr86 will probably be the highest milage out there lol

    I got the same color last week in a manual. I am driving stick after 15 years. I am anxious of the responsibility of managing the gear and transmission but also thrilled to be a lot more in control of the car. This car is more about enjoyment and the rush you get and less about mileage. This is a car built for manual driving.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před rokem +11

      For you that may be true. However for me I wanted the better mileage and sharing the car with my wife was far more important than only having a manual for myself.

      I did not. Was it after an oil change? Could be burning off oil that ran down.

    Apparently, the RTV issue doesn't happen to everybody, it's a rare situation! but i live in Australia'' so we won't get those issues.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před rokem +1

      Not sure it matters that you are in Australia as it is a Subaru issue during assembly. If you own one I would drop the oil pan and look into your oil pick up tube.

    hi
    that oil issue is not clear to me.
    can you explain in more detail ?
    Rgs

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  Před rokem +2

      Rtv is a silicone that Subaru uses to seal different parts like the oil pan, and the excess gets stuck in the oil pickup tube and can starve the engine of oil under hard acceleration.
      My oil pickup tube was completely blocked up and had I tracked the car I could have blown my engine. Unfortunate Toyota who owns 20 percent of Subaru and has been partnered with them for over a decade on this car just points the blame at Subaru and does not offer to fix the issue. Along with other issues that Toyota is happy to blame Subaru is the only reason I am getting rid of this car.
      It’s a shame because the car is fantastic but the experience from Toyota has been abysmal.

    you got pretty lucky if they didn't charge anything for dropping the pan, there's no TSB or recall so they have no obligation to cover costs, even if they found RTV.

      Unfortunately some people have had the engine pop on track and have had a hell of a time getting the engine replaced under warranty and that’s terrible. I love the car but the Toyota dealer seems to only want to blame Subaru rather than do anything about it.
