I tried Seedtime soon after it was released for the public. I found that the free version was far too limited, even for my small backyard garden, and the price to upgrade could not be justified for a hobby gardener. I can complete a hand drawn bed layout and a calendar based schedule in one cold winter day at home. I also find the mental processes to be fun and rewarding.

I'm such a seed-buying addict that my husband says I need an 'intervention. ' I have a refrigerator in the shop dedicated to just seed saving (and buying,) lol!

I used Seedtime for last year's garden, but I'm not sure if I will this year. Your paper system is a lot simpler. Inputting all my seeds into the Seedtime calendar takes a lot more time, and I don't really need an online planner to tell me to prepare the beds before I plant. It's fun to check off the tasks as you do them, though. :)
Good morning!! I was just in this app checking it out and looking at all the options. It is helpful that you did a walk through on it. I had registered to it a few months ago and totally forgot about it. Girl I too have a seed buying problem. Just purchased all these flower seeds for my new Cut flower garden. Your channel has been super helpful and a wealth of information. This is for my own personal use. I love fresh flowers but not the cost lol. Than you again for all you share. God bless.
I definitely have a problem. I bought and started enough lisianthus for my home garden and probably 2 full blown flower farms. Friends and family love all the freebies they get from me when I run out of planting space lol

Thank you for the demo, I just saw their ad a couple weeks ago on Instagram and was thinking about trying them out. I'm a paper and pen girl, but my seed planning is all over the place on multiple sheets and calendars 😅 so I'll give them a try!
This sounds like a great program. I have been putting this info into an excel spreadsheet and it is tedious to figure out the harvest date. This would speed things up considerably. Seed problem? You bet. I always buy more than I have room to grow. Someone on another channel said, “but finding a spot for everything is a problem for spring.”
We love butternut squash as well, especially our 16 month granddaughter, Aster Autum. Thank you for the demo for us tech challenged gardeners. Bob

I dod the same thing with my seeding dates. I was thinking I could change the frost date so I wouldn't have to go in an tweek each one. I'll check that out tomorrow.

Sounds like something I could use. Anything to help organize seed starting indoors and out. Totally agree with the frost date safety margin. I got burnt (lol) one year and lost half my seeds to an errant frost.
Oh.. if your planting early.. I wonder if when you put that you use cover that it starts earlier on calendar.

I have a seed problem too! Way to many for my tiny yard. I’m going to plant them all this year.
This is super interesting, thank you for sharing this process! I essentially built my own calendar, after a lot of trial and error, using diagrams in Miro. This looks like a lot simpler solution that I can build once and tweak over time. I love the large database of plant info, as an engineer I know that takes developers a lot of time to make!
I can't tell if this does succession planting well or not...I am trying to harvest some plants year-round by swapping out optimized varieties for winter or summer. I can see how I'd manually do that but wondering if Seedtime supports more elegant planning for succession calendars.
I'm curious about the tweaks you make to the seeding & transplant times. I live in Santa Fe NM, we're officially 6b but I find myself agreeing with your timeline adjustments too. I'd be interested in hearing about more of your planting timelines for all your plants specifically for our zone, maybe that is a good topic for another video.

I am the same! And I don’t sell anything or have a lot of beds.
I have the lifetime Seedtime subscription, but I don't really use it, I found the layout model still clunky and I have too many seeds I want to start and the calendar got too crowded. I may just use it for my vegetables, it's only 4 beds so it will be easier to monitor.

Brie, are you using the Free Version in this video tutorial? I am asking because after your recommendation, I went to seedtime, signed up, then watched all of the Ad videos and learned that the Free version has some major limitations. I then asked a question on seedtime about custom crops with the free version. I was told that the Free version does not include any custom crops. Therefore, if the crop is not included in the pre-installed library, you cannot add that crop at all with the free version. Did you use the Free version in this video?

OT: did you have a chance to read the article in The Telegraph about home gardens having a higher carbon footprint than farms? I would love to hear your thoughts!
I know I'm not who you'd want to hear from, but regardless of carbon footprint, monocrop farming is awful for the health of the soil, bees, local wildlife, and also it's a direct cause of genetic erosion in food crops. This assertion is way too broad to cover every method of gardening and is an irresponsible article to put out without much further study and nuance

I sprung for the upgraded because I think I’ll use it for multiple spaces but what you see here was all the free version!
The product has all of these flashy "FREE!!!" signs on it, but I know they have to make money somehow. Feels pretty weasly when getting into it, honestly. But it sure looks useful.
I don’t know, I have been using the free version so far and haven’t needed the aid options. It’s a small family business trying to make a living wage too, the scheduling tools are free and very useful.
Seedtime, very disappointing not enough flowers and varieties otherwise you have to update. Loss of time. I prefer my excel sheets.
They don’t have all of them yet. Worked as a good starting point for me but it’s not for everyone, I hear ya!
