Mason Rudolph Leaves Pittsburgh To Sign With Tennessee Titans, Will He Start Over Will Levis?

  • Mason Rudolph has officially signed with a new team.
It was announced earlier today that Mason Rudolph has signed with the Tennessee Titans on a 1-year contract worth just under $4 million after incentives.
There was much debate as to whether or not Rudolph would leave the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team where he had spent his entire career. After Pittsburgh had signed veteran Russell Wilson to compete against Kenny Pickett for the starting job however, Rudolph clearly felt his time with the Steelers was over.
At this point, it is unclear if the Titans will start Will Levis or Mason Rudolph but the move does provide Rudolph with a good chance to compete for a starting job at the very least.
If Mason can steal the starting job form Levis, he will have plenty of weapons to work with as the team also signed Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley this free agency after losing Derrick Henry to the Baltimore Ravens.
They also still have DeAndre Hopkins who had another 1,000+ yard season in 2023.
But, what do you think of the move? Did Mason Rudolph sign with the right team? Will he regret leaving Pittsburgh?
Who will start, Will Levis or Mason Rudolph?

I’m super happy for Mason Rudolph. He would be starting somewhere if he had not been drafted by Pittsburgh. Worst thing that ever happened to him. I hope he shines like a bright star in Tennessee.

Signing Mason is a homerun for the Titans. He will compete for QB1 from day one, and i would be surprised if he is not QB1 on opening day.

Rethinking your ideas.. You might be correct. You got a sub. I was biased because I growing up as PIT fan.
The up side statistically for Rudolph is higher in TENN.
TEN is forecasting their desire to be a big arm QB house..

The Steelers are going to a run-first team still as well. I think Pittsburgh will be good next year don’t get me wrong, but like you said, the upside for Mason is much higher in Tennessee than it was ever going to be in Pittsburgh
Levis will get the job back in a couple years, but for 2024 Mason should have a nice chance to set himself apart
Also appreciate the sub and hope to see you around again!

Agreed, Levis isn’t bad for a second year QB but Mason’s been through a few already and that alone just gives me slight instinctual edges over Levis that make a big difference at the NFL level

Interesting. Just so you know this commentary on Levis (pronounced Lev-is), at least at the current moment and really since the first game he started against Atlanta) would be unrecognizable by Titans press and fans as a whole. We (with a lot of hope and optimism) see Levis as the future. The whole organization is behind him to give him a shot next year. That’s the read based on living here in Nashville, and pretty much how national reporting sees it too, at least among those who have been paying close attention. You could be right, though, about the promise of Rudolph. Just offering some local perspective. Appreciate your insights into Rudolph and won’t completely discount your hot take on Titans’ potential (I guess very well hidden) motive for signing him on a one year deal. Just doesn’t resonate in the slightest with the body of credible coverage of Levis and Titans overall direction.

    • @bigmactalks
      @bigmactalks  Před 3 měsíci +1

I appreciate your respectful correction on his name and I do agree he could be the future for the team. He has a good arm, he had a positive TD/INT ratio as a rookie, and he even played better than the 1st overall pick in the same draft as him
I just don’t think it will do him much harm to watch a (hopefully) successful offence for a year or at the very least to have a player he knows can replace him at any time. I think Levis has more potential and upside but Mason makes sense at the moment
I hope you enjoyed the video though and if you haven’t please do subscribe!

There exists a substantial quantity of lifetime PIT Steelers aficionados that are extremely pissed at the franchise for allowing him to go. I was a Levis 1st round guy, BUT he will meet his match.. Mason Rudolph also was a 1st round guy that SOLELY because he was coming from OK ST. instead of Oklahoma dropped his value.. Trust me, I watched the 2017 Bedlam... Mason Rudolph V Baker MayField where many said OkST had #2 TD's stolen from referees... 62-55 BARN BURNER game. Rudolph wins that matchup & he is the Heisman guy instead of Baker MayField, He is in contention for that 1st round 1st pick instead of Baker MayFiled...
Levis, albeit good, is a few mistakes from superseded by Mason Rudolph. Ya'll in TEN have a superior QB room to us here in PIT.. 100%
