Before you leave a crabby comment because you are mad about the title of the video, I suggest you actually watch the video, because youll probably end up agreeing with what I have to say AND youll realize that I also made a video about why Iguanas make great pets for the right people :)

I’ve had my Bobby boy for 4 years now, from hatchling- and he is the best decision I’ve ever made. The sweetest, calmest, most affectionate iguana I’ve ever seen. I agree they aren’t for everyone but they definitely don’t make “bad pets”. That’s all up to the caretaker.

Thank you for realizing that iguanas aren’t for everyone and take a lot of energy and patience to keep happy and healthy

Rule number one: don't get more than 1 if you get an iguana. The can fight and wound each other viciously. They might get along and stay together as little ones, but as they grow one can try to become dominant and attack the other. Years ago I had a male and female. The male bit the female on the leg and ripped the flesh open. I had to take her to the vet.

I have done 7 months of research and I have saved up for 1 for over a year 😃 as there are just so many different options on green iguanas

Iguanas are my favorite animal, and for 2 years I have cared for a lovely Axanthic Iguana, he's friendly, loves people and attention, but would I ever recommend one? No. The main reason being that just because mine is sweet, doesn't mean others are. And even so, I have scars running down my body due to his claws. There is so much upkeep and maintenance I have to take care of, there are numerous cons (As well as pros) but Iguanas are definitely expert level pets and should be avoided at all costs as a beginners reptile.

Iguana was my first lizard. I wish I could go back in time to tell 15 year old me what a mistake that was for me at the time. I should've told 15 year old me to get a tegu instead

I have an iguana I've had her for about 2 years now, when she was wayyyy smaller I had her in a cage and then once I was not able to get any cages for her to fit I started to let her Roam around the house she gets along perfectly with me dogs and my other reptiles I have a huge container in the bathroom so she knows to go in there when she needs to I make sure if she wants to be in the heat she has a room that is inside or I let her on my deck with a little kitty pool( shes a little spoiled baby girl )

I desperatly want an iguana but I realise now (because of this video) that right now I’m not prepared to have one. I’ll probably get one in the future when I’m fully prepared to have one! Thanks for making this video :)

I'm always cautious of buying reptiles in general now. Parents should be very careful when picking one out for their kid. My mom let me rehome a friend's gecko when I was in the 4th grade. The thing ended up living for 26-28+ years (age unknown)! Whatever their lifespan says, double it as a precaution.

Nice video. I actually don't own an iguana per-se, but I do live in the tropics and there is park with a creak close enough that wild iguanas come to the backyard all the time (actually my mom hated 'em 'cause they keep eating her bougainvilleas - they particularly likes the flowers 😆). There's this large male that is so used to see us that actually let some of us pet him (My gf named him Gaston - LOL). Also whenever eggs hatch you can see the little green things running all over the place some actually get in the house to hide from the birds (they hunt 'em down) and like you say they DO have personalities. Some of the littlest ones (about the size of my palm) will actually jump into your hand if you reach for 'em and some others actually hiss and others just don't care.

Thank you, this video is extremely informative. i used to have an iguana as a pet and invested a lot of time caring for it. I would like to do it again as I am now an adult and can cover all necessary expenses. I went to a pet store to try and buy a green iguana and I realized i developed a phobia...i would like to understand how that happened? i used to love all reptiles, now i am all jumpy and scared of them..i do not understand, yet i am fascinated by them.
