In this video, I change the valve cover gasket on this 1994 Jeep Wrangler Renegade with the 4.0 straight 6. This will also work for the majority of these Jeeps with the 4.0 like the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. I was amazed to see how oil soaked she was cause I'll bet it's been leaking for a long time....
Check out the other video I have on this Jeep replacing all the brake lines:

Great video.
Thanks!
Great video, however, the bolts should be torqued to 55 in-lb according to the manual.
Thank you for posting. This was helpful
So far, a year later and no leaks.
MOOOIIIISSSSST! LOL. It absolutely looked like it was leaking for a while. How has it held up?
So far, the owner said it's been holding up well 👍
I love the Jeep, but man that oil was all over the place! Is this one yours? Any other plans for it?
This is not mine, just fixing it up so the only other plans I have for it is to do the brake lines, which is why it was parked since Oct. 👍
WHEN TIGHTNING DOWN THE BOLTS FOR THE VALVE COVER, HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TORQUE YOU'RE APPLYING BY USING A RATCHET WITH SOCKET?
I've done it so many times, it's a feel that I can do but typically they are about 90-144 inch lbs on a torque wrench

I checked out a couple sites including the one you spoke of for the amount of torque I should be using on my valve cover bolts.
I have a 1990 YJ 6cyl 4.2L and one particular site told me 55 inch Ils. Does that seem about right in your opinion?
