    Lived In South Carolina for 22 years. Never knew Greenville was so beautiful! Just recently saw a video of both places and fell head over heels in love with both places. My heart longs to return to Carolina. I lived on the outskirts of Hartsville, S.C., Darlington, S.C.. lives in NYC for over 40 years. I want to come back home. I love NYC but I know it's time to come back home.

    Although I don’t live there anymore 😢, I absolutely adore Greenville, SC…the weather is great (love having all 4 seasons), the people are friendly & the views of the mountains in the background are so beautiful, at times it will take your breath away. In fact, I would be living there right now if it was possible. The neighboring city of Spartanburg, SC is also a great choice!! It’s people are just as wonderful, the weather is just as great & the city & it’s views are just as beautiful…however, Spartanburg is just a little smaller & slower paced. Choose either one & you won’t be sorry you moved there!!!

    I love BOTH metro areas. We live in the Charlotte area and visit both a lot. Though both are very livable and I prefer to visit Charlesron, I would prefer Greenville as a place to live.
    It’s more affordable, stronger economy, more conservative, and has more of a 4-season climate.
    Though the city of Greenville (pop. About 75,000) is smaller than Charleston (about 135,000), the Greenville/Spartanburg metro area is noticeably bigger at about 1,250,00 compared to Charleston being about 850,000.
    Great video, as always.

    Considering moving to Charleston, been living in Dallas for two years but ready for change up and more nature having grown up in Colorado. Also heard it’s good city for young singles. Cool helmet in background by the way, Go Broncos!!

    I love this video. It was very well studied. I am a native South Carolinian and I have lived away for 25 years and my husband and I are coming back to retire in Greer South Carolina. We love Greenville and we love being close to the mountains as we both ride motorcycles. We also love Charleston and like visiting there so there is nothing like Greenville South Carolina! I love the downtown so much that after I retire I'll plan on working hard time at the Mast General store in downtown Greenville. But this video was amazing.

    Snowed in Charleston 2009-10 when I lived there. They said it was the first snow in 10 years.

    Have you lived in both cities? How long in each? Why did you choose Greenville over Charleston?

  • @TheRestedTraveler

    OK. I’ve heard you mention in a couple of videos that Charleston never gets snow. This is simply not true. I lived in Charleston (Mount Pleasant and Summerville) between 2009 and 2016 and we had snow multiple times. One winter, during the “snowpocalypse” as they called it in Atlanta, the Ravenel bridge had to be shut down. Twice. They re-opened it after DOT got the snow cleared only to have to close it again after huge sheets of ice fell from the cables onto cars below. It does snow down there. It’s more rare in the Lowcountry than it is in the Upstate (we got lots of snow and ice when we lived in TR between 2001 and 2009)…rare…but it does happen. We live in Denver now. We hardly ever get snow….in July and August. Ha!

    Is there boating around Greenville?

    • @oneoffivethousand
      @oneoffivethousand Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, but it's already overflowing with tourists and retirees. Greenville used to be charming and quiet, but now it's full of strangers looking for the quiet, charming town they got rid of.

    Charleston has a reputation for being one of the best places in the world to live whereas Greenville does not seem that much different from other Mountain communities??!!!
