Thank you for this Will. I am one of those people choosing between the two cities. I sent this to my hubby to view as I am pulling for Greenville and he for Charleston.

Really good summary Will. Glad we found this; it was perfect timing. We live in Maryland. I'm planning on retiring some time in 2026. But we don't want to stay here; it's too cold, high cost of living, and major big-city traffic. So we're looking south, but not too far into the Georgia/Florida region.
So we've looking Raleigh-Durham. Last Fall we spent a couple days each in Greenville/Columbia/Rock Hill areas. We just spent last week in the Charleston area (we based in Summerville.)
Anyway, having only one visit in each place under our belt - your thoughts touch our thinking. We feel like Greenville is going to be better because:
    1) It's not smashed up against the ocean - Charleston is super dense and I don't see them managing the growth. I have many areas in Greenville if I want to move away from that density.
    2) Weather is a touch better - hot is OK with us; we rather be too hot than too cold. But I think the Greenville area seems to be a bit milder.
    3) Location - a bit far from the beach (I think you are a regular, probably for many years), but close enough for a decent drive to get there. Meanwhile, also close to the mountains, and even west of the mountains (like Nashville e.g.)
We appreciate you have echoed some of our thoughts in our first visits. We plan on making it back to Greenville/Spartanburg area in the future. I will be looking at some of your other vids to help us learn. Thanks

Fun video to shoot! Love going to Charleston from time to time, but you're right all the charleston people flee to greenville during hurricanes!

I went to college in Greenville and often visited relatives in Charleston. Greenville was much colder and rainier during the winter. Surprised you overlooked that.

You didn't seem like you were biased to greenville to me.The entire video you talked about charleston. Also, Greenville city limits is only 30 square miles.Charleston 115.
